Television is one of the most common ways of a Guslant family spending their evening. The GusNet, created by the genius inventor Alicia Burns, used its main channel on the televisions to inform its citizens of daily functions, tonight was different. The screens of all the Guslant television on the channel turned black as the seal of Guslantis rolled in like a wheel. The wheel then acted as a vault door and opened to reveal a shot of Alicia Burns. "Welcome dear citizens of Guslantis, my name is Alicia Burns, and not only do I serve on the wonderful cabinet of Guslantis, but as always, I'm your GusNet spokesperson. Today is a special day as it marks fifty days until the December elections for the Guslant Congress. So, instead of me talking, I'm going to turn it over to Kristin Parks and Rick Rickman for the Guslantis Election Watch!", she said we a smile.
The screen faded to a man in a similar studio to the one Alicia was in. "Thanks Alicia. I'm Rick Rickman here with the Guslantis Election Watch, now later in this series we will be able to project the number of seats each member in the Congress will have, but according to the Thomas Building Corporation's latest survey, we will have a large population of new voters this season, so we'll have to do some polling before then and figure out exactly what party is favored most for the Guslant Cabinet. Let's go over to Kristin to learn more about the party system of Guslantis and what your options are for this upcoming election. Kristin?", he said, as the camera faded to a brunette reporter outside the Congress Building.
"Thanks Rick. Now, Guslantis has four major parties that citizens can vote for in this election. Guslantis has always been considerably left in policy, and thus three of its four major parties are left-wing. The first I'm going to talk about is the ruling party, the Liberal Party. Both the current chancellor, Alicia Burns, and Governor of the Theed Province, Mikita Nowe are from this party, and thus have fought for stability, peace, and overall order of the Jewel. Voters to this party should hope for a reelection of the two and continue the direction the Cabinet has taken this term. We'll see though, can the Liberal Party keep its leaders in all of the national and local governments?", she said before pausing.
"Meanwhile, as the Liberal Party tries to keep its hold in the offices, its opposing party is the even more left-wing party, the Socialist Party, which will be represented by its party leader, May Leng, hopes to take the Chancellorship from the liberals and help transfer Guslantis to its destined socialist state. While Guslantis is officially a socialist monarchy, the rich have become more rich, and this has not been address by either Minister Baldwin or Chancellor Burns, which scares the heck out of the Socialist Party. We have not heard much from the party leader or the governor candidate, but we hope to in the coming weeks ahead of the election," she said again before pausing.
"And finally we come to two upcoming parties, the Communist Party and the Conservative Party, which both hope to take the majority of seats in the Congress and thus become the ruling party of Guslantis. However, unlike the major two, these have been vocal, trying to gain the support needed to boost them above the remaining parties. Parker Fuller, the party leader of the Conservative Party, spoke at a conference today and had this to say," she said, as the screen faded to the conference.
"This Liberal crap is nonsense, let me just say that bluntly. A civil war has been going on in McMasterdonia, and what do we do? Nothing! Absolutely freakin' nothing. No condemnation, no Cabinet meeting, no second thought, no double take. I respect this Cabinet and the Governor, but they have done absolutely nothing to help grow Guslantis in its progression on the world stage. Face it, Pigletville, you have a very humongous sphere of influence, and if you want the world to grow, you need to pick up your ball and roll it! Electorate, please see what the Conservative Party is trying to do and push for this much needed change. It is your Guslantis too," he said, as proud fans applauded him.
The screen faded back to Kristin. "Abigail Hutchinson will be running alongside Parker for Governor of Pigletville, and we hope to hear from her in the coming weeks. Finally, however, we have the most radical of the parties: the Communist Party. Given the semi-recent war in Rhuvanland, the party leader, Vanessa Hoskins thinks that her and the governor candidate, Ethan Belcher, can get enough to take the majority, but whether or not that will happen will be up to the electorate. Like Fuller, Vanessa had a rally to gain the support of the new voters. This is what she had to say," Parks said before the screen faded to the rally.
"The war on Rhuvanland. Fun, right? Wrong. What went from a seemless transition to communism turned deadly when the 'amazing' saviors of Rhuvanland arrived and 'liberated' the helpless nation from becoming a state of sovereignty and order. Our Defense Minister had to escape on a flaming Chinook and risk her life to get out of the chaotic mess the capitalist nations caused. I mean, they already mess up the economy, why not send a blazing country into chaos to add a cherry to the pie?", she said as the crowd laughed.
Back with Kristin, the reporter began to conclude the show. "So, the parties are ready, and so are we, but now it is your turn. We'll be sending out approval polls to see what candidates seem to have the votes of the populace of Guslantis, and next time on the watch, we'll sit down with all eight candidates and announce our first projected Chancellor and Governor of this winter. On behalf of Rick and Alicia, my name is Kristin Parks, and thank you for watching the GusNet," she said as the screen faded.
(OOC: So, after every edition, which will be every once and a while leading up to the election on December 1st, you can post an approval rating of all eight candidates if you'd like to help out. At this point, most of the governor candidates have not spoken or are not named, so just insert for theirs your approval of the entire party running the governor position. This will directly affect who will be elected this winter. As always, the GusNet is international, so you can comment as a news station about your predictions and all as well. All other comments should stay off of this thread)
