It's the Late Show with Aaaaaaaabisheeeeeeek Roshaaaaaaan!

Namaste! L'chaim! Guten tag! Welcome, one and all, to the Late Show with Abishek Roshan, a late-night talk show hailing from the Rahul Theater in the great city of Sikhara, Syrixia, that airs at 10:00 PM every night in your timezone on LIU! Viewers can enjoy one fantastic hour filled with laughs, conversation, fine drinks, and so much more!

And hey! If you're a celebrity, politician, etc. and wanna come on the show, just let us know! We'll figure out the whole wajoozle! Hope to see you tuning in every night! It'll be a blast!

The Khan is willing to offer a short interview on the proviso any questions concerning his predecessor are off the table. Everything else is alright.

the wife of King-Regent Albert, Princess-Consort Madeline is prepared to give an interview to the talk show. All topics are on the table.

Kianoush Behzadi, a Flemingovian theologian from the University of Saint Leila in Cape El, would be interested in doing an interview.

His Majesty the Khan and her Royal Highness would be welcomed on the show! Perhaps we can get both in one show, each with one segment?

Her Majesty is most eager to appear on the show.

OOC: FTR Syrixia, the Flemingovianist and the Princess are willing to do side by side interviews. That way your show could give the two perspectives of the crisis to the international community. Just a thought.

Now, then, to the matter of Mr. Behzadi. The Late Show staff and LIU understand that there's a conflict in McMasterdonia going on, so would the Princess be interested in a side by side interview with Mr. Behzadi? It would really shed light on the perspectives of both sides.

The Queen Vanessa of Añola would be willing to feature on the show, wishing to gain some publicity and less negative attention on Añola after her father's recent escapades.

(OOC: If you guys want, we can do the show this afternoon. Would you all be able to make it?)

Her Majesty is prepared to appear on the talk show to prevent Mr Behzadi from spreading false accusations about McMasterdonia. She is willing to appear on the show to do a side by side interview, however due to safety concerns, the two should not be in the same room without adequate security.

Syrixia:

OOC: HOw are you doing the show? Just sending questions and asking for a response? I'm probably going to go to bed soon and then won't be back for ~ 12 hours.

That would be perfectly acceptable.

(I'm up for it, just let me know the time, just bear in mind I'm about 7 or so hours ahead)

Gladly. A Sadakhan spokesman would be welcomed on the show. As for her Majesty the Princess, we will have security guards in the building, though they will not be onset, as this will ruin the mood of the show.

As the Kaltian Estate is currently preoccupied with matters of state, Duchess Morrigan O'Siodhachain and Lord Andres O'Siodhachain-Sandoval of the Ordú an Ghrá would be delighted to attend the show to discuss any topic. Should viewers wish to understand their order, both would be more than happy to talk about it.

Note... no, Kalti doesn't have royalty anymore... the titles are a holdover from a thousand years ago and part of my ongoing effort to expand on my nation's past history, the Ordú an Ghrá is part of that.

We can fit you in, but any further applicants will have to wait for tomorrow night's show.

Sphan K'ter would be interested in once again joining the international community after 53 years of Civil War.

*BOOM*

The LIU Orchestra started their routine as the announcer began to speak. "From Sikhara, the greatest city in the world, it's the Late Show with Abishek Roshan! Tonight: Kaltian Duchess Morrigan and Lord Andres of the Ordú an Ghrá, Queen Vanessa of Añola, Kianoush Behzadi, Princess-Consort Madeline of McMasterdonia, and Khan Sebt II of Wolfsea; featuring Pankaj Nohachand and the LIU Orchestra, and musical guest The Rethenites! And now...here's your host, a man who needs no introduction but is getting one anyway because reasons...Abisheeeeeeeek Roshaaaaaaan!"

As the band hit the final chord, Abishek came strolling out as he always does, and stopped for a moment, before bowing in gratitude. "Thank you! Thank you very much!" he said as he stood upright and the band stopped playing. The audience cheered briefly, and then silenced. "Namaste, everyone; we got a great show for you tonight! From the beautiful nations of McMasterdonia, Añola, Wolfsea, and Kalti, Duchess Morrigan and Lord Andres of the Ordú an Ghrá, Queen Vanessa of Añola, Kianoush Behzadi, Princess-Consort Madeline of McMasterdonia, and Khan Sebt II of Wolfsea are all here! And, as tonight's musical guest, Plembobrian-Syrixian band The Rethenites are here!"

The crowd cheered, until Abishek subtly silenced them. "Now, then, let's talk for a bit before our guests come out." he remarked. "Hey! Recently Syrixia and Nebula signed the treaty of Lha Shan, ending the tensions surrounding the tiny island at Shei Ren." he paused. "Because it's not like there's a holy war going on in McMasterdonia right now. Just saying." The crowd laughed. "Keep on whining, you two."

"In other news, the economic recession has been getting quite bad recently. The Muffin Man over at Rajpur has actually run out of muffins. Thousands have died from starvation, and the problem continues to worsen. The utter lack of muh frehdums contributed to widespread disease and terror in the streets of Rajpur. Oh, Shri Prajapati, we need those MUFFINS!!!" The audience laughed. "Over in Kannex, the Nationalist Front is continuing to gain momentum, calling for the removal of the leftist chancellor Jörg Henneburg. Yeah, get rid of Henneburg! He took Kannex into safety after the Great War! We should remove people who like safety!"

The audience laughed and Abishek cleared his throat. "Now, then, let's get on with the show. Tonight with us are, as I said before, a colossal set of guests for the show tonight! Now, let's talk serious here. I'm sure you all know about the civil war going on in McMasterdonia going on between the King-Regent's government and Flemingovianist rebels. Tonight we've got security all around the building for this occasion, because we've got people on both sides here to talk perspective. This is a real treat; please welcome Princess-Consort Madeline of McMasterdonia and Cape El theologian Kianoush Behzadi!"

The audience clapped and the band began to play the music designated for when guests walked out onto the set. Abishek walked back onto the set and sat at his desk as the two guests walked out. The security stood ready for any possible threat should things go nuts.

Kianoush walked onto the stage and took some time getting to his seat, pausing to wave and smile and look especially friendly. He was an aged man, with wrinkles on his clean-shaven face and a thinning grey hairline. He had a potbelly that he was known back home to use from time to time to look jollier.

When the University decided to send someone to explain misconceptions about Flemingovian theology to the masses, they usually sent Kianoush. He was serious about his work, but a joker and smiler that had the demeanor of a quick-witted uncle. Kianoush shook Abishek's hand, unbuttoned his brown blazer, and sat.

(Was waiting for McM to bring Charlotte out but meh, the show must go on. Sorry McM, too late. She's now sitting in her chair. I'll post later today.)

OOC: Sorry, but you didn't even tell us how this was supposed to be running >_>

Princess Madeline, or Maddy as her friends called her strolled out onto the stage. This was her first major television appearance since her husband, the King, had taken the throne of McMasterdonia and she was determined to make a positive impression. She had won the eye of her husband after she had conspired with her own mother to arrest and overthrow her own father, for the seat of the city of Caspius. This was in the 90s, during the reign of King Kian XIV, who imprisoned her and deployed 10,000 of the royal guard in the city - before eventually ceding control to Lord Alexander, not to Madeline as the rightful ruler. Much to Kian's disgust, she had married Albert and together they now ruled the Kingdom of McMasterdonia. She had developed powerful friends in Añola, Lord Ravenclaw, and more recently within Wolfsea and was a widely respected political figure in her own right. Her husband would ask her to speak at public events, that required the presence of an unwavering loyal figure to the royalist cause, but not the King himself, she had developed the reputation for being outspoken, strong witted, and at times confrontational. Just what was needed for this public show.

She waved politely to the crowd and danced on over towards Abishek Roshan. Taking him by the hand, he span her around to the music. She was a confidant dancer - amongst other things and delighted the crowd as she twirled around Roshan. She ignored the terrorist sitting upon the stage before being twirled over to her seat, which she landed in and smiled brightly at the crowd, eager for the show to begin.

The security guards got ready, and looked attentively at the interview. Meanwhile, Abishek sat down after the whole thing was over and the two guests were seated. He was nervous, of course, but that was to be expected. Luckily, he didn't show it. Why would he? He was a late night personality. He was always cheery. Syrixia loved him!

Abishek cleared his throat quickly, then smiled. "Wonderful to see you here, Your Majesty." he said. You as well, Mr. Behzadi. Now, tell us about your perspectives. What triggered the ongoing war exactly? How do you think either of you can stop it? Would you say you could negotiate a compromise with each other or are the conditions so dire there would have to be one winner? Just tell us a bit about all that, so it can serve as a background for the rest of our little conversation." He paused. "Our little ditty." He chuckled, and then the audience laughed.

Abishek then looked over at the Princess and Behzadi, and awaited a response.

"Firstly, let me say thank you for having me on the show and for inviting me to the beautiful Syrixia" she said.

*The audience cheered and clapped loudly*

"As to the ongoing war, I believe it was triggered by greed and ambition. I assume you mean the rebel effort led by two highly educated and highly skilled terrorists - Rosemary Whent and Archbishop Gunrei.

This war was triggered by greed & by a lust for power. Whent was determined that she should be Chancellor so that she would be able to take revenge against the royal family. She continues to refuse to acknowledge that her father was guilty of corruption and that his arrest in the 1980s was justified. The King has continuously offered to show her the evidence, but she has refused. Whent is intent on taking power for herself and only for herself - her rhetoric about democracy is simply window dressing. She has never cared for democracy, and is only about pursuing her own interests at the expense of our people.

As to Gunrei, well his intent is clear. He wishes to establish a theocratic state. One which worships him as God. A state that punishes minority groups and enforces flemingovianism as the national religion. Gunrei has lobbied the royal family for years. He has demanded that every successive Monarch give him the right to imprison and execute non-believers. Gunrei is motivated by religious extremism and like Whent - has a desire to dramatically increase his own power. A Kingdom of McMasterdonia with Gunrei as Supreme Leader would quickly become a failed state. We would very quickly see a great genocide against non-believers, and the coordinated destruction of McMasterdonian culture and literature - to name just a few issues...

*someone from the audience screams "tyrannical bitch"*

"The war can be stopped the moment that Whent returns to Capricornia and pledges her loyalty to the Kingdom again. The war can be ended as soon as Archbishop Gunrei is arrested and ready to stand trial. As soon as that happens, the rebels loyal to him will return to their homes. The Kingdom will not negotiate with terrorist organizations, that would be unheard of, and it would presume that these terrorist organisations are on our level. They are not. They are simply power hungry, blood-thirsty, barbarians, that will stop at nothing to see them take power for themselves."

The Kingdom will not lose this battle. The Kingdom has governed McMasterdonia since the year 1200, officially, and it has the strong backing of the international community. Any other outcome is simply not possible and unacceptable.

*the audience clapped and cheers again*

"A sound summary." Abishek looked over at Behzadi. "Mr. Behzadi, what's the Flemingovianist perspective on these events?" he said. He then turned to the audience and briefly back to Behzadi. "Actually, hold on a second." Turning back to the audience, he said, "Ma'am, if you could just refrain from yelling anything," He then chuckled. "much less that...that would be nice." The audience laughed and then clapped, though a notable exception was that woman herself.

Abishek turned to Behzadi once more and prompted him to begin talking.

"I cannot speak to the intentions and history of Rosemary Whent," Behzadi began. He shifted in his seat and leaned on one arm of the chair. "Nor can I claim to know what the Patriarch is thinking. But I can say that he is no more a terrorist than the leader of any nation is during a war. I have worked with the Patriarch as a theological consultant in the past, and I can assure you that he knows as well as I that to be 'worshipped' himself would be a grave sin against Flem.

"Flem teaches everyone to have charity and compassion. Never in my years of working with the Patriarch have I seen him rejoice in the suffering of others - but he does know, as any war leader must, that suffering is an inevitable consequence of war. The excesses committed by soldiers fighting for the Patriarch are, perhaps, driven by human nature - the tendency to sin. There is no one in the battlefield that is without sin, on either side.

"The Patriarch is not without sin either. Neither are you or I. But he is a very pious man, with very strong moral beliefs. I have never seen him or his war counsel order the excesses that are occasionally committed by Cape El's forces. I would find it very hard to believe if someone told me he has.

"A general - I believe he was in the service of Caesar - once addressed a graduating class of a military academy. He opened his speech with the following words: 'There is many a boy here today who looks on war as all glory, but, boys, it is all Hell.' The Patriarch understands this idea. War is all Hell and there is no diluting it. I found it shocking that, even as Albert loses international support, the nations of the world only call for his removal from power. But they put bounties on the Patriarch's head, and say he is wanted dead or alive! What has he done that Albert has not?

"I fear I am calling too much on the brimstone for such a light-hearted family show, but there is one more point I would like to address. It is true, yes, that non-believers living in the Patriarchate are asked to pay a flat tax on their income. This tax is well-rooted in Flemingovian law. The purpose of the tax is to fund the government and allow it to protect those who do not believe in the ways of Flem from brothers and sisters who might discriminate against them for it.

"Who speaks for the downtrodden in Royal lands? Progressivism and secularism teaches us that we are all the same and to levy tax according to religious belief is wrong - but in these lands without policies towards minorities, are they truly treated the same as everyone else? In my opinion, taxes like those that the Patriarchate levies approach the actual situation between religious majorities and minorities with realism. Those who would be assaulted by less-tolerant Flemingovians are indebted to the government for their protection, and the government owes these debtors their own promises. In other countries, there is no contract like this. The government claims to protect the rights of the discriminated against but owes them nothing more than this claim. There is no collateral put up. The progressives claim that everyone is the same but the courts treat everyone very differently. Why not admit everyone is different and treat them differently?"

That is a very articulate argument in support of racism and bigotry - I am not sure that you are actually serving Flemingovia by articulating such opinions, however. Unlike Gunrei, Albert's supporters have not been involved in acts of terrorism against medical centres, schools, central business districts - all designed to attack and murder innocent citizens of the Kingdom.

Albert has not been involved in funding violent uprisings that result in the mass murder of government officials. Albert has not been involved in the support of attacks on foreign embassies, or the SDKY science research centre for example. Gunrei may wish to pretend that he is ignorant and uninvolved in the orchestration of these terrible attacks, but nobody can seriously believe him - everyone in the international community knows what punishments Gunrei hands out to those who disobey him. These types of acts of terror would not be carried out without his direct approval. And even if they do not have his approval, he has not come out and condemned these actions. He has actively rejoiced in the suffering of others - especially in the murder of civilians and those who dare to challenge the flemingovianists.

"One more question before we move on: what do you both think of the recent coup by the Krieg Clan in Guslantis, as well as the proclamation of Queen Mother Amira declaring her own regency?" Abishek said.

I have nothing to say regarding the Krieg Clan Coup. I have no idea how this happened, I expect Guslantis will need to do some serious soul searching to discover the causes of that conflict. Queen Leah Charles is a friend, and a strong supporter of King Albert and his reign, so I hope she resumes the throne as soon as possible.

As to the other suggestion, I believe that the Queen Amira has been a victim of her old age and weakened mind. She is being used as a political tool by the Plembobrians in their war effort against McMasterdonia, and should not be taken seriously.

(OOC: I'll do this in a sec. Totes forgot about this. Rn I'm working on an International Gazette article.)
