Chancellor Hans Kreutzer, age 54, announced his retirement and resignation today from the post of Chancellor of the Reich. He will be replaced by his Vice-Chancellor, Torsten Kesler.
As head of the Liberal Party and Chancellor since 1996, Hans Kreutzer led Kannex into the new century. Kannexan regional power and involvement grew as it joined the North Pacific Treaty Organization and the Helmebaine Alliance. Kreutzer's government was crucial in securing independence for Rhuvanland and its successful defense during the Great War. Economically, Kreutzer kept most welfare programs intact but otherwise took a hands-off approach to the economy.
