Hello members of the Regional Assembly, Mr. Delegate, Ms. Vice Delegate, and beloved Security Councillors:
I was elected into the office of the Speaker exactly 61 days ago after my predecessor and friend, Lord Nwahs unexpectedly vacated the office. In a panic, Elegarth, Alta Italia, and I swept in and tried to maintain the rolls. This was accomplished to the best of our abilities, only being Deputy Speakers at the time. A special election was held, and in that election, I was chosen by the citizens to assume the office I had wanted for years on this forum.
Of course, my luck would have it that my computer, with access to the forums, would crash right after the elections. So, with that being said, most of my term, I was either working from my mom's computer or working from my phone, which is why many of the votes had to be counted after the vote had already ended. Another issue with the office was the acceptable words list. While I was counting votes in Nwahs' absence, I realized that many votes were getting discounted because they weren't using "aye", "nay", and "abstain". I thought to myself, that's quite ridiculous, a vote being discounted for not using one of the three words? That limits the functionality of the office, and really gives more power to the people.
Being the incumbent, I did have a platform that I wanted to follow, so I'll look back on what I did and did not accomplish during this term and plan for the future.

- Specialized Deputies: I believe that the two Deputy Speakers I have now are very good at what they do, and believe if I resigned right now, one of them could replace me and do amazing. Alta, you've served me well, you haven't disappointed me, and you are a trooper. RPI, I was weary about your experience when I first appointed you, but man, you are a fireball and I can't wait to see where you'll be next.
- Repaired Rolls: Thank goodness that the rolls are in order! R3n and COE, as usual have been a great help to the office, and I hope to keep them in a shining order.
- Revival of the Weekly Digest: Yikes. I really thought that I could keep that going, but it is tough doing that every single week. If elected again, I believe that we'd do it bi-weekly, or something less often to make them a little more special.
- Legislation Classes/Debates: That train derailed pretty quickly. With the shifting of the Cabinet and the reappointment of a new Minister, that was never set up. However, I still would like to get that done if reelected.
Please feel free to ask me any questions you may have. I will be hosting debates, so please, check out the IRC and look for debate alerts. As always, you can comment here, or PM me.
Thanks!
