Seira kul Sunft, along with a small contingent, stood just to the west of Pigletville, the capital of Guslantis, preparing herself for the worst.
She was surprised when a courier dragon woke her up that morning, and was about to snap at him, expecting her daughter, Sura, to be the one who woke her, when she recognized the markings of the Kroning clan. Why would such an illustrious clan send a message to her, the leader of such a small, insignificant clan? She listened, her trepidation growing, as he informed her that Scian kul Kroning himself would arrive soon. Scian kul Kroning, the Elder of the entire world... why would he ever visit her? The courier continued: She was to meet Scian at the gates of Pigletville to negotiate with the Guslants to officially recognize the Sunft clan.
After the courier left, Seira looked around at her dwelling. It was nothing more than a simple cave, with several rocky outcroppings and not much more than a makeshift nest of grass and sticks. It wasn't even particularly high off the ground. She had heard of where the Elder lived: a massive cathedral near the top of the tallest mountain around, with dragons and humans alike ready to serve. It was as unreal as her dwelling was plain. How could she match up with a dragon from the heavens? She felt like Sura hearing of Wyssiria for the first time.
She woke Sura, still sleeping soundly in the nest, and walked out of her cave and stepped into a small pond, Sura following close behind; as this was official business, she needed to shine their scales to the utmost. She wondered if she should even bother: Scian likely had a team of subservients ready to buff his scales until they were as mirrors. The best she could do was make hers slightly less dull.
"Mother, are we visiting today?" Sura asked in the draconic language, eyes filled with excitement.
Seira hid her trepidation. "Yes, you'll get to see your very first human today," she replied.
Seira had trouble bathing Sura after that; she had been wanting to see a human ever since her mother told her about the small, quick beings. She sanded herself and Sura down on the beach and rinsed herself and Sura before heading off to Pigletville, Sura riding on her back, grabbing a token guard on her way.
By now, she had steeled herself for meeting Scian. She stepped forward, ignoring the stares of the shocked and screams from the frightened as she approached the gate. She had to hold Sura back several times; she wouldn't stop bounding around, trying to speak with the humans. Her excitement helped lessen Seira's trepidation. By now, Scian had already arrived and was waiting a distance from the gate for her. She looked around at the other dragons who were with him: most appeared to be simply guards, but among the dragons she recognized Siparis kul Leiter. She nearly froze: She had always admired Siparis for rising from obscurity in the tiny Kir clan and becoming among the most well-respected leaders of dragons. She bowed her head down and approached the dragons, dispersing several curious Guslants as she did. By now, Sura had mostly calmed down, but still had difficulty remaining still with all the new sights around her.
Scian simply nodded at her and Sura and turned to the gates, waiting for the Guslants to respond to the correspondence he had sent.
