Thatchertropolis

(OOC: This incarnation of the United States of Thatchertropolis is set in an alternate timeline, non-canon in the North Pacific continuity.)
25 March 2014
Thatchertropolis F. D., UST
Statement from the Congress of Thatchertropolis
"The assassination of one of our Federal Council members last night has caused great turmoil throughout the nation. Several states in the east have formed a new group called Imperium Thatchertropolitum and are claiming responsibility for the shooting, claiming that the attack is a result of the neglection of the political demands of residents living there.
I must note, however, that demands for a monarchy have no place in a democracy like Thatchertropolis. In response we have tried to dispatch national guardskeepers to the east to maintain stability, but they have broken through that, too. It is now time to stand our ground; as Cassius noted one day, 'The fault, dear Brutus, is not in our stars, but in ourselves, that we are underlings.'
Therefore we acknowledge that this outbreak of violence in the east was partly caused by us, but that does not completely vindicate the eastern states from breaking from a union that has prospered for decades. I urge you who are physically able to join our army and fight to reunite Thatchertropolis for its core values, including democracy, unity, and responsibility."
