Stalin1953 for Delegate!

Greetings, my fellow TNPers!

I am stalin1953 and I am running for the Special Election for Delegate. I accepted my nomination from the wonderful JhonsJoe, who nominated me for the candidacy of Delegate. Before I tell you my manifesto, I would like to say that McMasterdonia was a great delegate this term and he would have completed a lot of things for The North Pacific. It was a pity that he had to leave.

Now, I would like to tell you my election manifesto.

Why am I running for Delegate?

I am running for Delegate, because I have ran in many previous elections, such as the Special Vice Delegate election etc etc. I have lost in these elections, since I did not have a campaign manifesto for my campaign. Since I have received a nomination, I would like to create a election manifesto so that you will support me this election. Another thing why I want to run is because I would like to improve relations with other regions in the game and also, appoint different people that do not have that much endorsements to be Ministers, rather than having people with over 500 endorsements, since I believe that every person should have the right to do what they want to do.

Goals for this Term:

1)Foreign Affairs

If I am elected, I would try to create more embassies with different regions that we do not have relations with and also, I would try to terminate our embassies with some regions, such as Mordor etc.

2) Defense

I would try not to start wars with different regions, since I am very anti-war and I don't want any bloodshed to happen in this region. If someone declares war on us, I will interfere and try to destroy the people that are fighting us. I will appoint a Minister of Defense that is a pacifist, not a pro-war person.

3)Communication

I will give a push to the Communication Ministry, since I want more issues of the Northern Lights to be published so that more information will be given to different regions.

4)Culture and Entertainment

I will give a push to the Culture and Entertainment Ministry, since I think that not a lot of fun events are being created for the TNPers to enjoy. I will appoint a person that likes fun things to be Minister of Culture.

5) Regional Assembly

I think something should be done about the Regional Assembly, because currently, we are not having any new legislation passed, since the last one was almost 16 days ago. This is unacceptable, because it looks like no one is proposing legislation, only proposing SC nominations. If I elected, I would probably give people some ideas on a new piece of legislation so that more laws will be passed.

Cabinet:

If I am elected, I promise that I will appoint different people and not always the ones with the most endorsements, because currently, I am seeing that almost the same people are appointed to be Ministers. I have never seen a person that has under 50 endorsements being appointed Minister, so I think this is very unfair to other people, because the same people are nominated every year to be Minister, while the other people that are not nominated doing nothing. This needs to be changed.

Endorsements:

Endorsements is a big issue in this region. I have seen some countries with very large populations only receiving very little amounts of endorsements. I think these countries should get more endorsements, since they are also part of our region and we have to care for them like they are our friends.

Nations in TNP:

There are a lot of countries that I have seen in the TNP are mostly Psychotic Dictatorship, Corporate Police State, Iron Fist Consumerists. I have also seen countries with very low Civil Rights, Political Freedom and Economy. To be honest, I don't really like dictatorships, police states etc etc, since I am a very pro-democratic person and I don't like people being controlled by crazy, power-hungry tyrants, since everyone has their own right to do whatever they want. If I am elected, I will eject some of these countries from the North Pacific, since I am afraid that they might all of suddenly have many extreme ideas.

Last Words:

To round up, I would like to tell my fellow TNPers that you should support me for this election, since my goals will be good for the region. Vote Stalin1953 for Delegate!

Also, if I am elected, I might need some help, since I still not that familiar with this game. Thanks!

Even though you're not a valid candidate, I do appreciate you taking the time to post a campaign thread. I think all candidates should do it!

I have some questions for you, if you don't mind. :)

stalin1953:
I am running for Delegate, because I have ran in many previous elections, such as the Special Vice Delegate election etc etc. I have lost in these elections, since I did not have a campaign manifesto for my campaign. Since I have received a nomination, I would like to create a election manifesto so that you will support me this election.
I think we've pretty much all noticed that you tend to run in every election, yes. Do you think there's more to your losses than just the lack of a campaign platform, or is that the only reason you can think of?

Another thing why I want to run is because I would like to improve relations with other regions in the game and also, appoint different people that do not have that much endorsements to be Ministers, rather than having people with over 500 endorsements, since I believe that every person should have the right to do what they want to do.
Can you tell me which ministers have over 500 endorsements? As delegate, such high numbers are very worrying to me.

1)Foreign Affairs

If I am elected, I would try to create more embassies with different regions that we do not have relations with and also, I would try to terminate our embassies with some regions, such as Mordor etc.
What regions would you open embassies with, and why? Just a short list is fine; obviously it doesn't have to be exhaustive.

Why would you close embassies with Mordor? What other regions would you close embassies with, and why?

2) Defense

I would try not to start wars with different regions, since I am very anti-war and I don't want any bloodshed to happen in this region. If someone declares war on us, I will interfere and try to destroy the people that are fighting us. I will appoint a Minister of Defense that is a pacifist, not a pro-war person.
I understand this position. War is a terrible thing. If you are elected, will you also pledge to increase funding for our hospitals, to treat all of the wounded NPA soldiers who have suffered grievous injuries?

Are there any defensive situations where you would deploy the NPA? Which are they, and why?

3)Communication

I will give a push to the Communication Ministry, since I want more issues of the Northern Lights to be published so that more information will be given to different regions.
How often do you think issues should be published? Do you plan on helping to write articles for TNL to help it keep to this schedule? What articles have you written for it so far?

4)Culture and Entertainment

I will give a push to the Culture and Entertainment Ministry, since I think that not a lot of fun events are being created for the TNPers to enjoy. I will appoint a person that likes fun things to be Minister of Culture.
What kind of fun events do you think the Culture and Entertainment Ministry should be hosting? Do you have anybody in mind who likes fun things that you would like to appoint as Minister? If not, how would you go about choosing a Minister?

5) Regional Assembly

I think something should be done about the Regional Assembly, because currently, we are not having any new legislation passed, since the last one was almost 16 days ago. This is unacceptable, because it looks like no one is proposing legislation, only proposing SC nominations. If I elected, I would probably give people some ideas on a new piece of legislation so that more laws will be passed.
What sort of legislation do you think the RA should be passing? What ideas would you give people if you were elected, and why have you not proposed them in the RA yourself?

Is it necessary for the RA always to be passing legislation for its own sake? Would it be bad if we reached a state where we were generally happy with our laws and did not feel the need to alter them? Are you sure that this is not the case now?

Like I said before, it's very worrying to me if ministers are gaining 500+ endorsements. I think this could be signs of a coup in progress.

However, I am struggling to figure out which ministers you're referring to. Until just this week, Tomb of Home Affairs had fewer than 50 endorsements, and his count is only rising because of his run for delegate. Eluvatar of Defense is in the same boat, Lord Lore of Culture doesn't even have a WA in this region, and Egalotir of Foreign Affairs keeps his WA mobile to participate in the NPA.

Assuming, however, that all six of them are indeed sitting on a giant pile of endorsements and that's the single reason they've been named as Ministers, can you give some ideas for who you would replace them with, and why?

Would you commit to always replacing a minister if they gained over 50 endorsements?

Endorsements:

Endorsements is a big issue in this region. I have seen some countries with very large populations only receiving very little amounts of endorsements. I think these countries should get more endorsements, since they are also part of our region and we have to care for them like they are our friends.
How would you go about promoting endorsing these nations? Would you also promote endorsing smaller nations, or is it only big ones that should be cared for as if they were friends?

Would you tie this in to the World Assembly Development Program, or would it be an independent initiative?

Speaking of endorsements, how difficult do you anticipate it being to gain enough endorsements to take the delegacy? How would you go about doing so?

What sort of extreme ideas are you afraid of, and why do you think they would suddenly all have them following your election?

How would you get around the Bill of Rights, the Constitution, and the Legal Code, which expressly prohibit the types of ban you're referring to?

Do you think it's possible for somebody to enjoy running their nation in a tyrannical fashion and simultaneously be a strong supporter of democracy in TNP's government?

Do you think it's in line with the spirit of democracy to suppress and punish different or dissenting viewpoints?

Also, if I am elected, I might need some help, since I still not that familiar with this game. Thanks!

In a race for the most trusted position in a region, the only position which has the power to wreak total havoc on the region, do you think your inexperience makes you a better choice? Why or why not?

Thank you for your time!

2) Defense

I would try not to start wars with different regions, since I am very anti-war and I don't want any bloodshed to happen in this region. If someone declares war on us, I will interfere and try to destroy the people that are fighting us. I will appoint a Minister of Defense that is a pacifist, not a pro-war person.

A pacifist as minister of defense? That would be a very poor decision. We need someone who will do what is necessary to defend our region. We wouldn't need to have a pro-war minister of defense, but a pacifist minister would be a terrible mistake.

Nations in TNP:

There are a lot of countries that I have seen in the TNP are mostly Psychotic Dictatorship, Corporate Police State, Iron Fist Consumerists. I have also seen countries with very low Civil Rights, Political Freedom and Economy. Really? First off, I'm pretty sure that that wouldn't be allowed by the Bill of Rights, or really any legal code in TNP.
Secondly, those titles are not necessarily reflective of the persons actual ideology, some people do it for fun, some people do it on accident.
And, may I point out that your forum name is Stalin, and Joseph Stalin was probably one of harshest dictators the world has ever seen; does that mean that all of a sudden you're going to start getting extreme and radical ideas(then again, this idea of yours is an idea that I would consider to be a radical idea)?

Also, if I am elected, I might need some help, since I still not that familiar with this game. Thanks!

Are you kidding me?!? What good campaign would ever, EVER, say that? Hi, I'm running for the most powerful and significant position in your government, and I am very inexperienced. That is absolutely NOT a good thing to say when campaigning, ever!

This was probably the most poorly written campaign manifesto I've ever seen, even if you were an invalid candidate. You will need to do a heck of a lot in order to convince me to vote for you in any future elections.

Hence why this man is never elected. Seriously, I agree with RPI. STOP TRYING until you have more experience!!! :pinch:

This post was reported to the mods because of its negative tone. I would just point out that Nationstates is a political simulation designed to be played by adults. When running for office, negativity comes with the territory and we are all expected to deal with it. Anyone who cannot cope is probably playing the wrong game, and should not come running to the mods unless a forum or Zetaboards rule has been broken.

The complaint has been dismissed. grow a pair

If people want negative, give me a moment.

I am going to give you a scenario to answer. This will rely on your knowledge of foreign affairs, policy and diplomacy - I am primarily a diplomat.

I'm going to throw you a foreign affairs related scenario, and I'd like you to post on how you would manage it in the way you feel is best for The North Pacific.

Due to a civil war brewing in another GCR region with which The North Pacific has previously had close ties, outside forces who are partly allied to The North Pacific move in amidst controversy. Both sides of the GCR government are in a constant battle of words and you are not able to get hold of either their Ambassador to The North Pacific or any senior member of their Government. You hear reports of various power struggles inside the cabinet and the regional community between the various gameplay alignments and see a mass of imported endorsements from outside forces either mass endorsing the delegate (packing their endorsements out massively) or endorsing members of the government who are taking a stand against one issue or another for whatever reason. Finally, after a few days you hear from a senior official in the region who worked with The North Pacific during the liberation of The South Pacific during the Spring Coup of 2013, and they ask you to support one side of the regime, or the other.

How would you handle this situation? Would you consult any other figures before making a decision? What role does your foreign relations play in these decisions? Who could be influential outside of your cabinet and able to assist this situation?

Take your time on this question, I'm interested to know how you would handle it.

Is this for anyone to comment on Ravenclaw?
