WARNING LOTSO TEXT...
I used to scale my nation based on the USA as I am an American myself. But I realized this was not a very realistic thing to do as the USA is one of the biggest countries on earth with two land neighbors. So I looked to Europe and found it more realistic to scale my industrialized nation based on Germany. It is a smaller country with more neighbors, like my RP nation.
According to Lord Lore, my land are is ~ 197,448 km2 which is about half the size of Germany. Following Germany's population density of ~225/km2, Bustos has ~ 40 million people. However, Lord Lore and Nierr, our map gods, seem to be very generous when it comes to population sizes and very flexible with population density. They seem to be fine with the concept of taking Germany's ~80 million population and condensing it into an area half the size of Germany, giving me a population density ~400-450/km2. Some RP nations population density is even worse. It is usually islands, where real estate is premium that you have population densities that break into ~800-1000/km2. As I am a newcomer to the TNP RP scene, I've decided to follow along for the purpose of fun and enjoyment, despite how unrealistic this is.
To keep any sense of realism, however, with regards to my bank and its number crunching, I've capped nations to ~100 million people. Until the map gods say otherwise, I think this is very reasonable.
...So as I am not willing to calculate the land area of nations on the TNP Map, I am eyeballing using my nation as a standard, when believing realistic numbers of other nations; Capping that number at ~100 million. To give you guys a scale, as an industrialized nation at 197,448 km2 with ~80 million people, I have a population density of ~405 people/km2.
Continuing my scaling with Germany, the GDP is $3.1 trillion/year. Now depending on your government and taxation, you only get a percentage of the GDP as your government's budget. I would try to find a RL nation that has your government system or one close to it and use their percentage of the GDP. And even then most of that money is spent on government operations. Assuming you have any money left over, that money could be used to open an account. If you're a corporation, I'd think the deposit would be reasonably the same size, unless you can show you're a multinational conglomerate, then maybe you could deposit a little more. I am not going to over-analyze your government's/corportaion's potential budget. Just asking you to do some research, perhaps in the process learn some things, and come up with a reasonable sized deposit.
I am no expert at this myself but imho...
Most of this was used in another RP where we had whole world at our disposal so populations were much larger. So, I don't expect anyone to have a diamond account. Even I won't. Removed the Diamond Account.
Platinum accounts would be for anyone who made an early deposit during our beginnings and had grown the account to today, such nation would be very friendly with us; exchanged embassies, engage in free trade or have a free trade treaty, similar ideas with capitalism and personal freedoms, etc. This can be talked about either here or in IRC.
I see government's focused on business/trade and multinational corporations opening low end gold accounts.
I see government's focused on militarism and national corporations opening low end silver accounts.
I see governments with high taxes and large social programs opening low end silver accounts.
I am more than open to having this OOC thread be a discussion involving population sizes, density, GDPs, and the like, as long as it stays out of my actual Bank Thread.
