-THE BALAMB CHRONICLE-

BREAKING:

Parliament has ratified a new national anthem for Syrixia to replace the centuries old "Sailors' Chant" as it has lately become stereotyped with the Communist regime in Syrixia during the Cold War. Inspired by Israel's national anthem "Hatikvah" and lyricized by Deputy Prime Minister John Sirus himself, this solemn and deeply symbolic hymn has quickly been accepted by near all of Syrixia's population.

The followers of the Church of Syrixia have accepted it due to their belief that the Sun, like other stars, is one of the many eyes of God. The Jews have accepted it as well due to its connection and admiration of Israel's national anthem, as well as Syrixia's steadfast alliance with Israel, and even Syrixia's Flemingovianists have reluctantly accepted it. It symbolizes the will of the Syrixian people to keep going through any and all struggles, which was very strong as the only war modern Syrixia has ever lost is World War II.

The anthem, due to its support from the religious leaders of Syrixia, is played during church and synagogue services, though Syrixia's Flemingovianists have opted out of such performances during temple services. "Truly," said Prime Minister Alfred Nursson at a press conference after the Parliament meeting, "this is the song that will keep Syrixia united and democratic forever."

Syrixian National Anthem- "The Eternal Sun"

~

-PART 1-

As the sun is rising on Syrixia,

the people sing and dance across the streets.

As the sun is setting on Syrixia,

our joy will not falter, as it never has.

~

-PART 2-

Cities filled with light

as the Eternal Sun Shines,

Blue cross flag flying above us all,

and the eternal sun watching over us.

~

-PART 3-

Our trees and our hills,

our cities and

the Eternal Sun shining 'bove our land!

I quite like Hatikva mainly because I grew up in a Jewish household. It works so long as you understand that the context behind the hymn is about the 2000-year-old Jewish hope of returning to the Land of Israel, restoring it, and reclaiming it as a sovereign nation.

I do. And I think for that reason it sounds the way it is. And that melody is amazing and moving for me. So I used it.
