The North Pacific has witnessed an increasing number of players seek out its forum in the past two terms of government and this constant rate is continuing. A large number of these nations are being attracted to the prominent role play of The North Pacific. The North Pacific has some of the best Roleplaying communities anywhere in NationStates. There is a regularly updated map where nations can claim territories, divide territories up among themselves, and virtually use the map to enhance the experience of a particular Role play story or situation. There is also a large community of Role players that love to start threads relating to their nations, affairs, wars, revolutions, and the likes. Nation Embassies is a program where nations exchange embassies with other nations in The North Pacific. This program has seen great participation by many nations. The Democratic Union is yet another aspect of Role play in the region that has greatly prospered in the past two terms of government, and is continuing to do so today. This organization is a union of nations interested in maintaining democracy and collaborating towards making peaceful and democratic resolutions to situations that arise out of Role plays that include revolutions and wars. These are just a few activities available to role players with many others including spamming games and other national projects also available.
However, with more and more nations partaking in one if not multiple of these Role play opportunities, there becomes more responsibility and demand to maintain and upgrade these features for the members. For example, the regional map needs more than one to two cartographers now as more people are putting forth requests, and so this is necessary to address in order to keep the map top quality. Another prominent, featured topic is the Democratic Union. While it has been successful, it is the only national union or organization of its sort in The North Pacific. Last but not least, as more people are participating in Role plays, it is important to make sure that these Role plays and Role players remain cordial and friendly to the Roleplaying community through moderation and standardization. Having seen the need for this, Delegate McMasterdonia decided to hold a Role play Convention with the Ministry of Culture led by Minister Scandigrad to discuss the issues stated previously along with other various issues pertaining to role play. The 2015 Role Play Convention was officially started on Friday, January 23, 2015. The Convention is opened to all citizens and residents of The North Pacific! You can check it out and participate in it right here.

Sorry for missing this! I should stop using the active topics page - I mistook this for a convention planning thread and did not read.

I think you should speak to those who are in charge of the convention and get input/quotes, and add a paragraph about how the convention as gone so far. After those changes, I think it would be ready for editing.

Alright. I will reach out to them by this evening hopefully. I should be able to have everything completed by tomorrow.

Ten days later, with the Role play Convention still on-going, TNP has witnessed a vast amount of discussion in the Convention. Topics hotly discussed included the upgrade of TNP’s map with some individuals even suggesting adding city names to the maps to enhance Role play. On the other hand, Bootsie, a prominent Role player and current Deputy Minister of Home Affairs made apparent her plans to form a small nation body organization that will be a rival to the Democratic Union. There has been a successful discussion on reorganizing the Role play sub-forum as a whole, and the results of the discussion seem to be really promising. And last but certainly not least, the idea of multi-species Role plays is being strongly debated, and it should be interesting to see if TNP is going to have some aliens featured in its incoming role plays. With the 2015 Role play Convention still on-going, it will be interesting to see the lively discussion continue and to see the decisions made on areas being strongly debated such as The North Pacific map and the Democratic Union.

First edit:

The North Pacific has witnessed an increasing number of players seek out its forum during the past two terms, and this rate shows no signs of slowing down. A large number of these nations are being attracted to the prominent role playing community of The North Pacific, one of the largest and most active in NationStates.

There are several reasons for the new interest in the role-play section, but part of the attraction stems from The North Pacific's regularly updated map. Here, nations can claim territories, divide territories up among themselves, and enhance the experience of a particular role play, story, or situation. Other activities available to roleplayers include threads relating to their nations, affairs, wars, revolutions, and the like. Embassy threads are also popular, and involve nations exchanging embassies with each other. The Democratic Union, an organization dedicated to maintaining democracy and peace, is another aspect of role play that has greatly prospered for the past two terms of government.

However, with more and more nations partaking in one or more of these opportunities, there becomes more responsibility - and more demand - to maintain and upgrade these features for the members. The map, for example, needs more than one or two cartographers now as more people are requesting spots. The Democratic Union, until recently, was the only multinational organization in the role playing community, which lead to some homogeneity. In addition, as more people are participating in role plays, it is important to make sure that role players remain cordial and friendly to each other, and that role plays get better through moderation and standardization.

Having seen the need for this, Delegate McMasterdonia decided to hold a Role Play Convention with the Ministry of Culture to discuss the issues stated previously along with other various issues pertaining to role play. The 2015 Role Play Convention was officially started on January 23 and ended on February 6. At the Convention, TNP witnessed a vast amount of discussion. Topics hotly debated included the upgrade of TNP’s map, with some individuals even suggesting adding city names to the maps to enhance role play. On the other hand, Bootsie, a prominent role player and current Deputy Minister of Home Affairs made apparent her plans to form an organization that will be a rival to the Democratic Union; the North Pacific Treaty Organization, or NPTO, was created soon after.

The Convention also discussed reorganizing the role play subforum, and following its conclusion changes were made to clean up the section and make it more sensibly organized. Finally, the idea of multi-species role plays was strongly debated, though it has yet to be seen if there will be any inhuman beings inhabiting the role play world. Though the Convention has ended only recently, huge changes are already being made in The North Pacific's role play community, and more are sure to come.

Omission of less-key phrases got this down to 476 words from 616. Also made some parts past-tense since the Convention has ended. Any comments?

I would like to restructure this article a bit to put the overview of the roleplay convention at the top. It's the focus of the article, so we should lead with that, not the growing interest in role-play. I will also collect a few quotes from key players to mix in.

In reaction to growing interest in the roleplay sector of The North Pacific, Delegate McMasterdonia decided early in his term to hold a Role Play Convention hosted by the Ministry of Culture. The stated goals of the convention were to use community discussion to solve issues related to the regional map, roleplayed technology level, and roleplayed international organizations. The 2015 Role Play Convention was officially started on January 23 and ended on February 6. At the Convention, TNP witnessed a vast amount of discussion. There was much discussion of how to upgrade the map of TNP, with some individuals even suggesting adding city names to the maps to enhance role play. Bootsie, a prominent role player and current candidate for Speaker made apparent her plans to form an organization that will be a rival to the Democratic Union. "The North Pacific Treaty Organization hopes to provide a central ground for dictatorships and democracies alike, and we hope to work towards world peace," said Bootsie. "We also hope to earn a prestige status within The North Pacific and have a good organization of nations that share a common yet unique ideology."

There are several reasons for the new interest in the role-play section, but part of the attraction stems from The North Pacific's regularly updated map. Here, nations can claim territories, divide territories up among themselves, and enhance the experience of a particular role play, story, or situation. However, with more and more nations partaking in one or more of these opportunities, there becomes more responsibility - and more demand - to maintain and upgrade these features for the members. The cartography team, for example, has taken on new members to keep pace with the rising number of territory requests. In addition, as more people participate in role plays, standardization and moderation must expand to make sure that role players remain cordial and friendly to each other.

"While [the convention] was a little bumpy, I think it went over pretty well," said Lord Lore, currently Minister of Culture. "It should help the Culture department to better make policies based on what the TNP Citizens actually want." Though the Convention has ended only recently, huge changes are already being made in The North Pacific's role play community, and more are sure to come.
Unless you've got any substantive changes to make, Myroria, I think this one is ready for publication.
