Spirited debate occurs in the Ecclesia while the proposed Delegacy Act is discussed.
The Delegacy Act, designed to specify the responsibilities and rights of the office of Citizen-Delegate, passed the Ecclesia, Taijitu's legislature, unanimously on 11 Gaiose (January 5). The act was proposed by Citizen-Initiator Gulliver on 1 Gaiose (December 26), and was designed to settle some unanswered questions regarding the duties imposed by the Ecclesia on the Citizen-Delegate.
After a spirited debate, the final document approved by the Ecclesia included a provision limiting the Citizen-Delegate to serving two consecutive terms, provisions making the Citizen-Delegate the de jure head of state and responsible for foreign policy, and a provision allowing the delegate to appoint any number of Citizen-Diplomats to "assist them in conducting foreign policy". In addition, the new law includes a clause allowing the Ecclesia to recall the Citizen-Delegate and/or any Citizen-Diplomat by a majority vote.
The law was partly designed to explicitly delineate the powers assigned to the Citizen-Delegate, in order to prevent any Delegate from accumulating more power at the extent of the Ecclesia. This conforms to the original ideals of Taijitu's Glorious Revolution, which sought to put as much power in the hands of Taijitu's citizens as possible.
Citizen-Sergeant elections begin

Members of the Citizens' Militia, led by Citizen-Sergeant Dyr Nasad, on a recent operation. The leadership of the Militia is up for grabs after Dyr announced he would not seek reelection.
Nominations for Citizen-Sergeant began on 17 Gaiose (January 11), and elections are set to begin on 27 Gaiose (January 21). Citizen-Sergeant is a position elected by the Ecclesia to a four-month term, and its holder is responsible for leading Taijitu's military, known as the Taijitu Citizens' Militia.
Nominations started off early, with Citizen-Augur St. Oz nominating both himself and his cat for the position. Numerous other nominations for Citizens Delfos, Bustos, Myroria, Kardex, and Cormac were all either unanswered or declined. Citizen-Sergeant Dyr, nominated for reelection, declined his nomination and therefore will not stand for a second term. Citizens Eluvatar and Funkadelia accepted their nominations, and will face each other in the election itself.
The Taijitu Citizen Militia is an all-volunteer force dedicated to defending Taijitu's ideals at home and abroad. Fitting with Taijitu's egalitarian theme, the Militia has no commissioned officers. It is led by the elected Citizen-Sergeant, and managed by the Sergeant along with Corporals and Lancepesades - currently Eluvatar and Pauline Bonaparte, respectively.
We wish all candidates good luck in the election, and ask for the birds to send us good omens.

The new Citizen-Liaison, al'Khem (right), has his portrait painted.
An amendment to the Delegacy Act was passed on 19 Gaiose (January 13) that legislated the addition of a brand new position to Taijitu's list of officers. The Citizen-Liaison is a new position that will be responsible for maintaining the Taijitu community, by showing new members around, answering questions, and organizing community events. Like the Citizen-Diplomat position, the Citizen-Liaison is appointed by the Citizen-Delegate and subjected to recall by the Ecclesia.
Taijitu's first Citizen-Liaison is al'Khem, a member that has been with the region since its founding in 2007, and active writer in Taijitu's worldbuilding community. The entire Ecclesia wishes al'Khem good luck on his new position, and we ask Citizen-Augur St. Oz to read good omens in the flights of the birds for him.

The Bodily Manifestation of the Supreme Ultimate blesses the Ecclesia after naming 1 Ventaire "Revolution Day."
An amendment to the Holiday Act passed on 19 Gaiose (January 13), creating the new holiday of "Revolution Day" to commemorate the Glorious Revolution.
The Glorious Revolution occurred last Ventaire (August), and overthrew the stagnant Republic of Taijitu, headed by Delegate Sovereign Dixie, in favor of a direct democracy led by the Ecclesia, a legislature consisting of all citizens of Taijitu. Revolution Day is already the first day of the Taijituan Revolutionary Calendar - 1 Ventaire (August 26).
