Dmb for Deputy Chairman
Hello and Greetings. As a member of the Democratic Union, I feel that it is my duty to serve and provide better services for the people of the North Pacific, especially member nations and democratic bodies. With my humblest of thanks, I would like for nations of the Union to listen not only to my campaigning, but all of the candidates. Democracy cannot function if each body does not vote for the candidate they think will be the best in office. So before I begin, I would like to wish all the runners in the race a genuine good luck. I am Alek Silverson, the representative from the Federal Republic of Dalies. I was appointed to the Democratic Union by the Chancellor, Evan Lyons. I wish to provide by services here by creating a backbone to the assembly and encouraging collaboration between the Chairman and I. Dalies is a world benchmark when it comes to political freedom, scoring a 81/100 on the Diebold Election Inking Scale. Sure, this does not make Dalies a number 1 contender, but it supports the idea that Dalies is fully democratic based.
I am finding out that the Union needs some serious work in order to stop the whole thing from crashing down. I am noticing the lack of activity from a majority of the members within the assembly along with the lack of announcements from active nations. A big issue that has been recently shown to me is the admission process. Following in suit of Sandigrad's idea, I believe that nations wishing to be admitted into the Union must have over a 48 on the Diebold Election Inking Scale and above a 50 on the Martin Luther King Jr. Scale for civil freedom. Each of those numbers are the average of nations in the world. In addition to that, nations must vote to either let them join as a full member, a member with an observer status, or to deny them admission entirely. This way may take more time, but it should lead to better results and a more democratic way of governance.
To help with the future government of the DU, I would set a series of regulations that clearly define what the Deputy Chairman can and cannot do, along with strongly suggesting the Chairman to do the same. This way, nations can clearly state what can and cannot be done. This can help set the perimeters that the Union can operate in. Without this, domestic issues will wreck havoc while issues outside of the Union will go unanswered and without action.
It is these things that make the Democratic Union less of a North Pacific assembly than it can be. From now on, I am calling for no more half-measures. We must start to do things with more democratic principles at mind before corruption and greed channel through the ranks of fellow nations. I thank you and look forward for any questions you leave below.
