OOC: Planned here. If you want to be involved, please post in that thread.

Hayden Parsons, President of the Senate took his seat. He banged his gavel a few times to get everyone's attention. "The senate will now come to order. The session for Boomtime, The Aftermath 25th will now begin."

Bill Tennyson, the Junior Senator from Rethel stood. "Mr. President, I'd like to propose a resolution to thus body."
"The chair recognizes the gentleman from Rethel."
"Mr. President, members of this body. Earlier this week, this senate elected to have our ambassador to the Democratic Union vote to have the DU conduct an inquiry and investigation of the Kingdom of McMasterdonia. A resolution to support the current government wasn't even proposed. The body's decision is an egregious violation of the McMasterdonian government's sovereign power.

I present to this body, a resolution to changed this countries vote, and to express the sense of this senate, to support the legitimate government of McMasterdonia." The chamber erupted into chaos, with senators shouting their support or disapproval.

The president banged his gavel again. "Order!" he shouted.

(Your go, McMasterdonia)

Michael Ellsworth, the Senior Senator for Flithendale stood and said

"Mr President, I rise to support the motion."

"The Chair recognises the Senior Senator from Flithendale"

"Mr President, I shall start by thanking the Honourable Junior Senator from Rethel for putting this motion before the Senate. This is an extremely important issue for the Senate and for our executive government to consider. It should be apparent to all that the executive has made a most egregious mistake in supporting the Chair of the Democratic Union in its attempt to assault the sovereignty of a great North Pacifican Nation.

The Ambassador from McMasterdonia pointed out in very clear and concise terms the issues that had surrounded the election timetable in McMasterdonia. The Chair had made no attempt whatsoever to communicate with the McMasterdonian Government and instead had chosen to bring his extremist anti-monarchy agenda to the forefront of Democratic Union business. The Chair berated members of the Democratic Union into supporting a farcical investigation into McMasterdonian Internal affairs and he even suggested suspending the membership of McMasterdonia.

It is my contention Mr President, that the Chairman from Malvad was most concerned that McMasterdonia may choose to stand in the upcoming elections for Chairman. McMasterdonia had personally lead the formation of the great Free Trade Agreement that encompassed all present and future members of the Democratic Union. This historic treaty brought together nations of varying cultures, economies and political and religious beliefs. This Free Trade Agreement went to the very core goals of the Democratic Union. The McMasterdonian Government is an exemplary example of Democratic Union Values, and the Chair committed a serious mistake in attempting to politically assassinate the legitimate Government of McMasterdonia in it's so called 'deliberations' before the Democratic Union Membership.

Mr President, the Junior Senator rightly points out the highly flawed method in which the Chairman attempted to prosecute his anti-monarchist agenda in the Democratic Union. He first presented a non-binding poll, that greatly confused member states and then secondly he offered very limited options to member states. The vote did not include supporting the legitimate and constitutional government of McMasterdonia.

The deep wound in Malvadian - McMasterdonian relations was further exacerbated by the gross insult lodged by the Chairman in suggesting that the McMasterdonian government was possibly illegitimate. This demonstrates that the Chairman made no attempt to read or interpret McMasterdonian law. The Constitution of McMasterdonia was ratified in 1975 by Queen Issabella and has continued to survive the test of time until this very day.

The constitutional and legal institutions grant the monarch of McMasterdonia extraordinary powers that may be used in a time of crisis. It is clearly evident that this is an example of such a crisis. The vital institutions and government services to so many McMasterdonians have been hindered and attacked by violent rebel extremists within the nation, and the Chairman from Malvad attempted to bring the Democratic Union in to support these violent extremists and to punish the legitimate government for responding to extraordinary circumstances with extraordinary measures.

It is my view, Mr President, that the Senate has no option but to take a very tough stance against this incredible assault on Mcmasterdonian sovereignty by the Democratic Union. We should absolutely demand that our representative change his vote and immediately vote to support the legitimate and constitutional government in it's attempts to bring peace to McMasterdonia and to defeat the rebels.

If we do not stand against this incursion Mr President, it is extremely likely that the Democratic Union will only continue down this dangerous path of assaulting and attacking it's own members. The Democratic Union should not give in to the whimsical demands of a rabidly anti-monarchist Chairman. The Democratic Union should not ignore clearly presented facts, simply because the Chairman demands it of it's members.

Mr President, this is not to say that I have not read the recent statements surrounding their Ambassador to the Democratic Union. It is my hope that those statements were true and that Malvad will stop attempting to discredit a region simply because it is a monarchy. It is my hope that Malvad will stop attempting to mislead Democratic Union Members and that Malvad will learn the difference between fact and fiction.

Mr President, I wholeheartedly support the motion. The Senate must vote to change our vote on the McMasterdonian issue. It is unethical for the Senate to support any action against a legitimate and constitutional government that is complying with both international and domestic obligations. Elections have been scheduled in McMasterdonia and Her Majesty's Government is responding appropriately to the extraordinary threats that they face from terrorist groups who are seeking to undermine the legitimate monarch at all costs.

I again thank the Junior Senator from Rethel, Mr President. I wholeheartedly support the motion and I would encourage other members of the Senate to support the motion as the only ethical and appropriate course of action for our nation.

As the Senior Senator took his seat Senator Atkinson jumped up.

"Mr. President, I respectfully disagree with the Junior and Senior Senators."

"The Chair recognizes the Senator of Mediglorn."

"Thank you Mr. President. This so called resolution is a mockery of democracy. The government of McMasterdonia, however legitimate it may be, has violated the basic rights of its citizens. The McMasterdonian government claims to support the democratic process, even after it has time and again silenced dissent and suppressed freedoms. I am personally appalled that anyone would propose a resolution supporting the current government.

I am amazed, Mr. President, by the Senior Senator's rhetoric towards the anti-monarchists and the nation of Malvad. I wish to remind him that rather recently our own nation went through a revolt against the monarchy. Without said revolt none of us would currently be debating this important issue in these chambers. The anti-monarchist movements in countries across The North Pacific have only fought against monarchs that have deeply violated the rights of citizens and consolidated their absolute power.

The treatment of the nation of Malvad is uncalled for. It is known that the nation withdrew its ambassador to the Democratic Union after the Chairman stepped over the line in his misguided views of McMasterdonia. The Malvadian government has apologized and made amends for any egregious actions by the former Chairman. Furthermore the nation of Malvad recently toppled a dictator who had eliminated most of the former government, possibly including their much beloved royal family. The government of Malvad has even expressed that they wish to locate the royal family so that they may either come home in peace or be laid to rest.

To restate, Mr. President, I am appalled by the actions of the McMasterdonian government and the senators here today. This resolution is a sham and shows that the senators still sympathize with a government that commands absolute power.

Thank you Mr. President."

Senator Atkinson returned to his seat.
