Scandigradian Press Release! Breaking News!:
SSA is pleased to announce that yesterday afternoon, an agreement was reached between the Kingdom of McMasterdonia and the Commonwealth of Scandigrad to begin joint venture missions, with the ultimate goal to place a space station into orbit.
The Syrixian People's Council eyes the press release from Scandigrad intently.
Councilor Isamu Ningyo: I'm not sure this is directed at us, but we cannot allow the People to feel like inferiors...
Councilor Shaw Atlas: We have to start up a Space Program of our own.
Councilor Vitrius Holmes: It is indeed vital. The Ministry of Culture has voted upon this; the resolution to begin a space program was ratified UNANIMOUSLY.
Councilor Savus Archelius looks at Councilor Ningyo with a feeling of dread.
Councilor Auel Vist: The only rockets we have at the moment are our nuclear missiles! How can we make real rockets?
Councilor Shaw Atlas: By combining some of the rockets for use in the program. The metal exterior can be used as material to build the rocket out of, and the plutonium cores can be utilized to blast the rockets into space!
Premier John Sirus: I approve this motion if ratified, however I suggest we use our obsidian surplus from Stonessfurd to create sturdy rockets. The plutonium cores would blow normal steel apart, but obsidian could handle it adequately. One of our rockets would be in space within one minute at most! If possible, we could even "customize" them into starships, however that could take at least a few decades to become possible.
Councilor Shaw Atlas: All in favor?
All Others: Aye.
Councilor Shaw Atlas: All in disagreement?
No one speaks.
Premier John Sirus: This motion is now ratified. Councilor Atlas and Councilor Holmes shall contact Eumenor, Svoboda Soyuz Iz Bolsheviki, Narnia, and Tomb and ask for assistance. We need all the help we can get to beat Scandigrad. The People's self-esteem is at risk!
The Premier speaks to the Syrixian public. The People cheer in approval. Construction of the very first Syrixian rocket begins, and the phone lines are clogged with international calls from the two Councilors.
