Ophiuchus Situation Erupts
A commercial ship in the Marfik Bay
Opal Alkion, Serpens Island, Cancer, Kialga-Lourti -- Demonstrations continue daily on Serpens Island. Citizens of the island continue to cry for a separation from the Cancer Administrative District, claiming that they are located to far from Ilein Citta to be ruled correctly by the government in Cancer. The protestors, united under the "Free Ophiuchus" banner have begun blockading the island's ports, using personal and pirated commercial vessels to prevent ships from the mainland of Kialga-Lourti to enter port.
As the 127th day of protest comes around, a total of thirteen national soldiers have been killed in attempts to break into the ports. An estimated 36 civilians have been killed attempting to blockade the ports. This morning, to the surprise of the Kialgan Government, the Pisces Navy deployed a small unit from Boreus Island. The ships, consisting of two battleships and an aircraft carrier, were sent to help defend the ports on Serpens Island from raids from the national military. This action caused a commotion in the Council of Twelve. Pisces Representative, Vern Burrell, commented: "The citizens of the island deserve a say. Kialga-Lourti would not be where she is today if we stopped revolts under unfair government." The comment was in reference to the conflict that allowed the Leo Administrative District to form from Virgo.
President Snyders has yet to comment, remaining silent throughout the morning. Current Chairman of the Council of Twelve, Eleonor Peyton made comment on the situation. The Representative, from Cancer, stated that the actions of Pisces are "...completely ignorant..." and "...will causes further splits in the Administrative Regions."
By mid-afternoon, a national battleship, the KNS Albali, was sunk 361 km from Serpens Island. The attack, led by the Pisces battleship Alrischa, stirred emotions across the nation. A vote was called in the Council of Twelve on what action to go forward with. The vote, called by Lynn Tinker of the Leo Administrative District, called for Kialga-Lourti to allow Ophiuchus to enter the nation as the thirteenth Administrative District. The vote currently stands at four for, three against, and one abstention. For the vote to pass, every District must have cast a vote and there must be a simple majority.
Unusual Symptoms in Kialga-Lourti
Nigh Citta, Sagittarius, Kialga-Lourti -- Legislation has recently passed the People's Council calling for the hospitals of Kialga-Lourti to find a cure for a disease that is beginning to root in the nation. On Friday, a young female was admitted to Northern Nigh Citta Hospital with strange symptoms. The woman was unable to use even the most basic of motor skills and lacked any ability of verbal communication. Doctors began examinations immediately, hungry to discover what plagued the young woman. By Monday morning, the woman appeared dead. A team of two doctors entered the woman's room, an isolated chamber beneath the main floor of the hospital. Upon physical contact, the woman appeared to "...jump from her chair and attack..." the doctors, a nurse stated. A third doctor called for hospital security before entering the fray himself. Knocking the patient out with an anesthetic, the doctor strapped her to the bed before turning to attend to his fellows. Noting several bite marks along the arms of his coworkers, Dr. Nathanial Chadwick isolated the two other doctors with help from the security team. This morning, Dr. Charwick reported that the two doctor's had developed symptoms similar to the young female's when she was admitted.
Dr. Chadwick met with President Snyders earlier today and warned him against the potential threat. Snyders has issued precautionary steps across the nation. Any patient that shows similar symptoms are to be quarantined immediately and indefinitely. A team of doctors at Northern Nigh Citta Hospital have begun researching the disease, in hopes for a cure, before any other citizens became infected. Hospitals across the nation are beginning to prepare, using preliminary research from Northern Night Citta to begin testing for the symptoms.
