Unrest in Crilalia!

Tension is high in the Plembobrian Province of Crilalia as hundreds of pro-democracy protesters take to the streets in opposition to the His Majesty's recent banning of elections.

"Give me back the right to vote!" and "We want democracy!" could be heard amid the shouting.

We asked the a royal spokesperson what the King's opinion on the protests were. He replied,

"It is unlikely that His Majesty will address the issue at all. It's just a bunch of kids complaining. It'll die down soon enough."

But as unrest continues to worsen, it appears that the King and his government have become concerned. He is expected to release a statement on the issue within the next few days.

In the meantime Foreign Affairs Secretary Darren Crowly has requested international comment.

"We'd like the International Community to comment on the matter, and give suggestions on what route we should take if the crisis worsens."

Olvern wishes to note that it is concerned about the protests occurring in Crilalia Province. Olvern hopes for dialogue to occur between both parties such that the government and the people of the Kingdom of Plembobria may come to a peaceful solution to the situation in the best interest of all parties, without the protests escalating into violence.

Egalotir, a firm believer in democracy, and freedom of the rights of the people, officially condemns the actions of His Majesty's recent banning of elections. In the modern world, the people should have the voice, and that voice should carry strength. We hope that negotiations can be held between the protesters and the government, and that matters remain peaceful.

McMasterdonia believes that the legitimate government, led by the King of Plembobria should do whatever is necessary to protect their rule over that province. The province belongs to the nation of Plembobria by right and the King is the sole authority with the legitimate right to govern the province. Do whatever is necessary to restore order to the province. The best way to remove dissent is to track it to its source and then to make an example of the source.

Do not retreat. Do whatever is necessary. Do not be afraid to punish some of your people, in order to preserve the freedoms and security of the rest.

Malvad feels it is necessary to remind the King that any crimes committed by the government will be strongly condemned by the international community. Democracy and freedom are key to any successful nation. Proceed carefully and make your decisions wisely.

The United Federation of Alamo, a staunch supporter of democracy, would like to condemn HM's actions. Our nation has already been ruled by a dictator once in its history, and we would like to recommend that the government initiates dialogue with the protesters and comes to terms with them, for the benefit of the country.

Signed,

The government of the Principality of Legington will not announce an official stance. We know too little of your country's history, people or culture to make a decision. However, as a member of the Democratic Union and a country ready to involve itself in North Pacific affairs, if the outcome of this civil unrest is war the Tyrant and her government will have no choice but to intervene.

Royal Statement from His Majesty
People of Plembobria and Nations of the North Pacific,

I come before you today to address the issue of the recent protests in Crilalia. First I'd like to say that the Crilalians' right to free speech will not be infringed. They have the right to protest, providing it remains peaceful. They will not be jailed or punished in any way.

Regarding the issue of elections, they have not technically been banned. However there are no elective positions in Plembobria. All government offices are appointed by me, including the governors of all eleven provinces.

Democracy does not and cannot work. Government exists to protect the safety and freedom of the people. Democracies only result in chaos. Can a group of children raise themselves? No! How can individuals govern all themselves at large? Most people are not capable or competent enough. This form of government is absurd!

I implore the people of Crilalia to put their individual opinions aside; to go back to living in freedom and working to improve the lives and the lives of all Plembobrians.

Our country can only move forward if all the people are unified.

In the name of Plembobria,

Coup d'etat in progress!

Soldiers and tanks from Crilalaia have surrounded the palace and are now holding the government hostage. The capital city of Rethel was left vulnerable because much of the military based in Paradorp (the province between Crilalia and the capital city, click here for a map.) is presently deployed overseas for the NPA.

The leader of the Crilalian Resistance Army has refused to comment on what his intentions are for the country. However, he has compelled delegates from all ten provinces to come to the palace. It is likely that they are negotiating a new constitution with the King.

More information to come.

The Government of the Principality of Legington cautioned both parties about using any means of force. The audacity the CRA has showned is unacceptable as well as unnecessary. The CRA has no need of taking politicians as captives if they wish to create a more democratic nation.

The Legi government is requesting the CRA to pull any military personal out of the city of Rethel. The current Plembrobian government must also allow Legi diplomats to enter Plembrobia to monitor the situation and arrange an acceptable constitution with the CRA leader.

The Crilalian Resistance Army has published its new constitution which the King has signed (albeit reluctantly).

The CRA welcomes the Principality of Legington to assist in the holding of elections for the Senate and House of Commons.

Four political parties have selected candidates and have been placed on the ballot:

People's Revolutionary Democratic Party (organized by the CRA)
Conservative Alliance (organized by loyalists)
Libertarian Party
People's Socialist Front

The Malvadian government hopes that the transition to a new constitution goes smoothly and that elections are successful. However we would like to know if the king was forced to sign the new constitution or if it was done out of his own free will. We would also like to send in observers for the transition process.

Malvad:

The CRA welcomes observers from Malvad, provided they do not interfere.

The government in Alamo wishes to inform Plemboria of its support of the new constitution and democratic regime. We would, however, like to send observers to examine the transition province, should HM's government accept.

Sincerely,

The interim government has been dissolved. The House of Common is yet to elect a Prime Minister.

The Speaker of the House of Commons has requested that the chairman of the Democratic Union speak before a joint session of Parliament.

The Chairman would be delighted to speak to the newly elected parliament and will arrive in Plembobria shortly.
