Additional Comments

I have a question. I understand, as a new member of the RA, I can't vote in this, or any election for 15 days. My question involves EoN's nomination for AG. He was admitted to the RA after I was. So I'm wondering if there is legislation governing when a member can run for elected office? I'm puzzled as to why a new member can't vote in an election, yet can be a candidate in one.

As far as I know, none. The only requirement would be membership within the Regional Assembly.

Ah ok. Thanx for that. Not saying anything about EoN's nomination, but I thought it was odd (to me anyway).

Given that I nominated him, there better be nothing odd about this >.>

Also, go check my PM. I talk about stuff.

Personally, I've no problem with his nomination. Tbh, I'm interested to see what happens. ;) Just a procedural observation.

Er, this isn't true at all. The only rule is that you can't vote in any vote which opened before you were a member. :)

You are allowed to vote in any voting thread that begins AFTER you are admitted. You are allowed to vote in any election that begins 15 days after you are admitted.

I was going by this. I guess I misread it. Thanx for moving the comments btw. Wasn't sure where to post.

I saw your comment and had asked one of the ECs to post about it (at that time it was still in the voting thread, where we're not supposed to comment). Not sure whether anyone did.

Where is the excerpt you quoted from?

Yeah, sorry about that. I'll learn.

I quoted from the RA membership applications thread. (Step 3)

Just to be clear as it looks like my previous post reads very differently than I intended it to... I meant that I asked an EC to clarify that you could in fact vote, and that I would have said so myself but didn't want to post in that thread.

Fair enough. I don't think an EC weighed in. But I will not vote unless I have clearance to.

You definitely do. The only 15 day limitation was on becoming a candidate, though I believe that is not part of current law either.

And really, the worst case scenario is that you vote when you can't, and your ballot isn't counted. Not the end of the world. :)

Please do vote falapatorius! The democratic system only works if people are heavily involved.

This is correct.

A 30-day limitation was added to a previous constitution but was not included in the current one as of August 2012.
