Rosemary Whent walked quickly down the hallway and into the observatory on the eastern side of the Manor House that had been her home since her birth. She had convened a meeting of the Lords and Ladies of various cities that she had hoped would be supportive of her cause to bring McMasterdonia back from the brink of an abyss that would lead only to tyranny, economic collapse and risk the lives of millions of McMasterdonian's.
A long oak table stood in the middle of the room, in the centre was a long crimson centre piece that bore the words of the McMasterdonian national anthem
Rosemary had found it difficult at first when she contemplated breaking her oath to the Queen. Centuries of tradition, the risk of imprisonment and death for her family and the possible oppression of the people of Capricornia were all at risk when she decided to flee the capital in the middle of the night to organise a gathering of the most influential state and local leaders to consider rebellion against the ruling monarch.
"Ladies and Gentlemen, I am glad that you agreed to heed my call. It is a matter or urgency and absolute secrecy, which is why I have asked you to gather here at this time of night" she said,
"I think we all know why we are here your grace. You're considering rebellion against our Queen, rebellion against the state itself. We are risking our own imprisonment by being here with you" bellowed Baron Richard of Ceduna
"Another example of her majesties tyranny... I had high hopes for her reign, her father was a wise and just leader. It is disappointing that it has come to this. For all we know, there is already a warrant out for our arrest. The Queen will know that we are here, the intelligence service is everywhere." said Lady Isabella of Castello "We know why we are here, we are all disturbed at the Queen's treachery and her blatant disregard for the rule of law and the traditions that have kept this nation afloat for the last three centuries...."
"Mrs Hansoon is still under arrest. Her children have been put in my care in the interim. All we can do now is wait..."
Meanwhile in Intelligentsia.....
The Queen sat at the center of the Emerald room, the meeting place of the Council of State. The Emerald room was the second oldest room in the palace dating back to the third era and the reign of King Theodore the mad, well before the formation of the Federal Kingdom of McMasterdonia. Rumors had been circulating the capital that the Duchess of Capricornia had met with many of the Lords and Ladies of the various cities of McMasterdonia and was preparing a coup d'etat against the government. The Council of State had been in session for several hours, various Lords and Earls had been yelling on and on for hours, while her young son Prince Robert sat by her side learning the subtle art that is politics in the Kingdom"
"Your Majesty! You must not give these people an inch, for they will only take a mile. If the Duchess of Capricornia is preparing to lay siege to the capital, we must act now and attempt to draw her supporters out from the shadows" yelled the Count of Augusta
"Your Lordship, we have nothing to fear from the Duchess of Capricornia. She is little more than a populist who has learned how to follow the prejudices of the Senators and exploit the fears of our people. They will soon see through her facade and return to supporting the one true leader of the Kingdom. The last time a rebellion was led against the rightful monarch, the usurpers and anarchists drowned at sea. The people have not forgotten that."
"Even worse than that Your Majesty.. there are calls for your abdication. The Senate is expected to vote to remove you from the-.."
"Such a vote would be an illegality and can not be allowed"
"Your Majesty, if such a vote were to pass and you did not resign, it would only aid to the oppositions claim of tyranny and a power struggle between the palace and the elected government... you must be very careful your majesty. These are dark times indeed"
A long oak table stood in the middle of the room, in the centre was a long crimson centre piece that bore the words of the McMasterdonian national anthem
God of justice, You have saved us
from damnation till this day;
Hear our voices from this day,
And from now be our salvation.
Our beautiful homeland,
Dear country glorious and fearful,
Our fathers' old glory,
May you be blessed forever!
Forward, the flags of glory,
To the fight blood of heroes.
For well being of the Fatherland,
Let the rifles speak.
God save, God protect,
Our Regent and our people!
Regent Matilda, God protect,
Praying to You is all our kind!
from damnation till this day;
Hear our voices from this day,
And from now be our salvation.
Our beautiful homeland,
Dear country glorious and fearful,
Our fathers' old glory,
May you be blessed forever!
Forward, the flags of glory,
To the fight blood of heroes.

A Statement to the Senate:OHMS
Honourable Senators,
It has come to my attention that you intend to violate the constitution of the Kingdom of McMasterdonia in a vote that is scheduled for this afternoon at five o'clock. Further, this vote to remove the legitimate monarch and your head of state from the throne is in violation of your oath as Senators.
For that reason, I am left with no option but to prorogue parliament for an indefinite period. It is clear to me that the evil and immorality of separatism and division has found it's way into the Senate itself. For that reason, the Senate in it's current form can no longer be trusted to truly represent the McMasterdonian people.
Senate elections will occur on the first of March 2014. All members of the Liberty Alliance and the McMasterdonian Peoples Party are banned from running in this election as enemies of the state.
Yours,
Queen Matilda R,
Queen of McMasterdonia
Countess Palatine of Intelligentsia and Duchess of Cape El,
