Merchant States Peace Talks
By Nadia Stalik, Lead Foreign Relations EditorPort Cristobal -- After nearly 18 years dispute with the Merchant States still claiming sovereignty over Corinair, Press Minister Karl Demitrey gave a statement today on behalf of Yuri Ukashov, Ambassador to the Merchant States. "Today is the beginning of peace!" he stated, following up with details that the governing council of the Merchant States has agreed to meet with Chancellor Solnste on finally recognizing Corinair as an independent nation apart from the city states.
According to Minister Demitrey, the Chancellor has sent a formal request to the Regional Council, asking it for a neutral location to host the talks. No word yet on a response, but Demitrey claimed both the Chancellor and the Ambassador remain positive this is a true step in the right direction for relations between both the Merchant States and Corinair. The Merchant States currently have a long standing embargo on all trade from Corinair and have long been suspected of preforming illegal pirating against Corinairi Vessels in an attempt to upsurp, what they have been quoted as calling, "The rebellious heathens."
We here feel that all citizens of Corinair will agree with us when we say that we hope for the best. Freedom is all we've ever wanted.
