Seven Deaths wins Presidential Elections in landslide victory
Seven Deaths at the inauguration party. He was rather drunk at this point.
Europeia elected its 37th President on August 13th, 2013. The result turned out to be a convincing victory for Seven Deaths and Drecq, SD's running mate, as they smashed Remsol Greyjoy and his running mate, Stersteraved, by a margin of 24 votes. The final polls left the SD/Drecq ticket with 30 votes, whilst Remsol and Matt only managed to scrape six votes, despite support from HEM.
Upon his election to the Presidency, Seven Deaths addressed comments which had arisen in the campaign stage, claiming that although he hadn't planned on running, it didn't mean he didn't want the job any less than his rival candidate. He also encouraged Europeians to join the Civil Service and get involved. Here is the statement in question:
With the region running smoothly thus far, Europeians can only look forward to what SD's first administration as President will bring to the Republic. It is likely that with the support he has, he'll be able to execute successful leadership. Before I go, I'd like to issue a challenge to everyone. Whether you are a new Citizen or an old one, honored or not, join the CSO. Get involved with a Ministry. Even if you're just brainstorming new ideas, you're helping and we'll take all the help you can offer. It's up to each one of us to make Europeia a better place. We can't just rely on others to do it for us.
Roleplay on the Rebound?
Europeia has never had much success with roleplays. It's unclear as to the reason, but you can generally assume that it's just not in our culture. Recently, a newcomer to Europeia has begun laying the groundwork for a Mock UN/Legislative Simulation Roleplay entitled Democracy in Action.
The way it works is a potential player signs up as a Minister of Parliament. The players then vote amongst themselves to decide upon a Prime Minister who will lead them in the trying times ahead. The PM will serve for a cycle which will consist of 2-4 "Scenarios" that players will need to discuss (Read: argue over) to determine the best possible outcome and then write legislation for it.
With seven players already signed up, this could very well be a rebound to Europeian Roleplays. The roleplay can be found here if you find yourself interested.
