King Alexander II Celebrates Birthday

alexanderiinoframe.png
His Majesty The King

King Alexander II celebrated his Birthday this week, and gave a speech last Sunday.

Excerpt from His Majesty's Speech:
Several tragedies has this region faced and overcome. On the fourth day of November, in the year of two-thousand and ten, the region was attacked by two of those it was meant to trust, and the forum was utterly destroyed--This, the region overcome. In 2011 the region faced numerous spamming attacks--this, the region overcome. Throughout 2012 the region was besieged by a duo of criminals who still try and gain access to our board today--This, the region overcame. This is a region of fighters. This is a region that will not bow down to oppression. This is a region that will exercise the law righteously, and bring down the hammer of justice swiftly on those who seek to harm it's people. I have no doubt that we, the people of this region, will not waver in our defence of this realm, and all those who seek to harm us, will be cast back into the shadows from which they came.

On the week of my birthday and today preceding, I will endeavour to remember all the strife this region has faced, and overcome, with brave hearts and intelligent minds.

His Majesty then announced the Birthday Honours List, with a number of citizens being recognised for going above and beyond the call of duty to aid United Kingdom and its citizens. He finished the speech with a poignant and inspirational message:

Now, I leave you today with a final message, stay strong and united. This region has never been driven into the ground and we have never given up hope on each other, and on the steadfast resilience of our community. When the time inevitably comes in the future when I myself must abdicate/leave the region, I will do so with the knowledge that this region will continue on beyond me for years to come.

A celebratory ball takes place today.

Cabinet Changes Galore

Cabinet-table-006.jpg
An example of how well attended Cabinet meetings are

It has been a term for cabinet changes, it seems. After Alex Beckett, Chancellor of the Exchequer, disappeared without an official Leave of Absence, he was replaced by recently-returned, previous Chancellor, Edwin Tiberius de Clare. UK went another two weeks before the resignation of George de Clare as Home Secretary, after a long period of decline in nation count. He was replaced by William Cavendish. It was then only another week before Chris Mikaelson, Foreign Secretary, resigned, following a period of little diplomatic activity. Deputy Prime Minister James Mikaelson, acting on behalf of the PM, who is on a Leave of Absence, appointed Edwin Tiberius de Clare to the position.

Still, even with these appointments, there is a noted absence of officials in Cabinet Meetings, with a great deal of the cabinet apparently not turning up. Activity problems like this will need to be addressed next election.

By- Election Comes Around

After, Alex Beckett, MP for Wales, disappeared, as mentioned above, Parliament voted in the affirmative to remove him. A by-election was announced soon after. There were two candidates: Cameron M. Richthofen-Saxony, an Independent, and Michael R. E. Stewart, of the Conservatives. After a short campaign and voting, it was announced that Michael R. E. Stewart had been elected, albeit by a thin margin of 7 votes to 6.

Changes in the Courts

New Senior Associate Justice, Charles Telsontair

Parliament finally took action recently to re-energise the courts, after Via Vulpes, the previous Senior Associate Justice, was deemed to not be coming back, following a long 3 month period of absence. Charles Telsontair, previous Junior Associate Justice, was elevated to the Senior role.

Recently, Parliament have begun discussions over who should replace Telsontair as Junior Associate Justice, and the PM and King are expected to announce their nomination shortly. Leading the expected candidates are Edwin Tiberius de Clare (previous AJ and long-time Lawyer), George de Clare (Attorney General), and James Mikaelson (Former PM).

Recent Court Trials

The court has been unusually active recently, with two court trials in one week. First up was HM Government v. Henri Grimaldi. Mr. Grimaldi was accused of intentionally lying on his citizenship application about positions he holds, thus committing the offence of Perjury, which in some cases can warrant a two week forum ban. Mr. Grimaldi was defended by Edwin Tiberius de Clare J.D, on the grounds that Mr. Grimaldi did not intend to deceive the government, and in fact just made a simple mistake. Mr. Grimaldi was eventually cleared of all charges in a judgement by Constance St. James and Charles Telsontair.

The second is HM Government v. Edward de Trafford. Mr. de Trafford has been accused of Treason and Slander, after copying the code of United Kingdom's theme and using it on his own forum. He also kept the names of this forum's Government on the Header, so it looked as though citizens from this region were in positions in his own. Mr. de Trafford is defended by Edwin Tiberius de Clare J.D, on the grounds that, although Mr. de Trafford committed the act in question, it did not amount to Treason or Slander. A judgement is expected soon.

Elections Upcoming

The Prime Ministerial Candidates - Henri Grimaldi, of the Liberal Democrats. William Cavendish, of the Conservative and Unionist Party. James Mikaelson, of the Labour Party

It's that time again. Elections are just around the corner. This month we have three candidates for Prime Minister. Henri Grimaldi, of the Liberal Democrats. William Cavendish, of the Conservative and Unionist Party. James Mikaelson, of the Labour Party. Mr. Grimaldi has previously been Minister of Culture and Minister of Defence, as well as an MP. Mr. Cavendish has previously been an MP and Lord, and has held various ministerial positions, including Home Secretary. Mr. Mikaelson is the longest serving (non-concurrent) Prime Minister in UK's history, and currently holds the position of Deputy Prime Minister. Marshall G. Holdstock, current Prime Minister, has announced he will not be standing for re-election.

For Parliament, so far:

MP for Northern England
- Victoria E. Stewart (Con)
- James Mikaelson (Lab)

MP for Southern England
- Edwin Tiberius de Clare (Con)

MP for Wales
- Michael R.E. Stewart (Con)
- Richard Alexander (Lab)

MP for Northern Ireland
- St. John Montclaire (BSP)
- George de Clare (Con)

MP for Scotland
- Henri Grimaldi (LD)
- Charles Sinclair (Con)
With just under two weeks until registrations close and election, what is already certain is that it should be interesting.
