Chasmanthe for AG

I am running for Attorney General.

If elected I will file charges and prosecute cases in accordance with the court rules, the legal code, the constitution and the bill of rights.

When I came to TNP, Grosseschnauzer was AG. I think the consensus is that he did practically nothing. When action was demanded he gave excuses such as, lack of evidence, or impracticality, or poor likelihood of successful prosecution. To the public, these excuses were inexcusable.

On IRC 24/11/2013 this link came up:
[21:51] <@Eluvatar> http://z8.invisionfree.com/The_North_Pacific/index.php?showtopic=5098http://z8.invisionfree.com/The_North_Pacific/index.php?showtopic=5098

This demonstrates that the prosecution team of The North Pacific were unprepared in their case against Cathyy, and Nikovakia thrashed them quite comprehensively. The case was dismissed with prejudice, which means nobody can ever bring a case against her for those crimes.

I wasn't there, but it seems that Grosse would have got a lot of blame for this outcome, and maybe that explains a reluctance to prosecute cases that are not able to be prosecuted properly.

Could I do better? Could you? Let's be prepared to learn from past mistakes and improve. Maybe in four months you will be running for AG.

Abbey was prevented from an effective term in office due to RL. I do have RL issues but for the most part I am in NS as a break from RL, so I am fortunate like that.

If I recall, I voted for Blue Wolf II in the last election, due to his determination to bring things to trial.

Punk D promised a lot and I think he delivered much of what he set out to do. I admire his honesty that he admits he failed to meet all the expectations that he set. I believe I could be a productive AG by following his example. I would do a few things differently, I would dismiss prosecutors more quickly and would try and increase collaboration further, with some cases prosecuted by one person and some as a team effort.

I think Gaspo will make an extremely effective AG, but if for any reason you do not want him to serve as AG, remember that I am also running.

If there are any questions, I will happily answer them, or if anyone wants to use this thread to have a go at me, do it, because it's better than bottling it up and creating an atmosphere, and I would be glad to know what people think of me.

Any questions?

Thanks for putting your name in the ring Chas against a heavyweight like Gaspo.

What's not easy to see from the outside is the amount of time - hours really needed to present a credible case. I am concerned that your RL may be too busy. And honestly, that might not be a bad thing as there are far more interesting pursuits than studying NS cases. hehehe.

What would you say are the traits/experiences you bring to the table that will help you in this role?

The traits that will help me in this role are:
-bringing things up that people have no desire to be brought up
-being prepared to think the best of people or the worst
-remembering the law and past events
-logical and unusual reasoning
-respect for equality
-desire to uphold the prestige of TNP
-typing
-need for conflict
-making excuses
-inquisitorial approach

The experience I bring is none that I can think of at this time.

My RL job is 36 hours a week and lately have worked slightly more than that.

The time I currently spend on NS is less than that but not that much less. The difference is I'm not actually achieving anything in NS except in TEP where I am keeping the legislature running.

Therefore time is not really an issue I just need to use my time more effectively.

I note that you are always prudent in picking out things that others often do not say and I think you would do well as AG.

The best of luck.
