General Elections

The general elections were lively this time around, with many new and old faces running for the House of Commons. Among the candidates were; James Anumia, a former Prime Minister of the British Isles who vanished half way into his term during the early days of the region and who has just returned this is month; Alvino Castillon-MythiKa, the new Minister of State for Culture who has been excelling in that department and who is fast becoming well known internationally now for his commitment to cultural reform in several regions; William Somerset, best known as Delegate of the North Pacific; Cameron Windsor-Hanover of the Labour Party; and incumbents Kingborough Edwick, St John Montclaire, Peter Phillips and Bryan von Richthofen as well as a new face for the SDLP - Christopher Bishop.

The final parliament was a narrowly elected SDLP majority, Peter Phillips of the SDLP only just beating Royal Constitutionalist Party leader James Anumia to give the SDLP the required majority of four out of seven seats to form a government.

The Liberal Party, represented by Kate and William Somerset, now hold two seats while the Union Party holds one seat which Kingborough Edwick-Kudrow holds. The politics of the region have been shaken up by this election, with the brand new Liberal Party taking two seats in their first ever election and the Union Party forming post-election from a merger of the Labour, Neo-ImperiNationalism, Democratic and Royal Constitutionalist parties.

Military Split Complete

A central feature of debate and controversy in British Isles recently has been our military stance - including an embarrassing event for the Founderless Regions Alliance and Mordor that ended in disaster for the Archchancellor of the FRA/Lord Sauron of Mordor after he (Wop) asked former UDL member Cormac Stark to infiltrate our region to avert any possible TNI influence. The result was embarrassment for the FRA after the logs were leaked and the HMs Government of the British Isles decided to drop treaty negotiations and a schedule state visit with Mordor.

However despite this controversy, under the leadership of Cephal Talleyrand the military has finally been reformed. The final solution to the argument over raider vs defender has been to split the military into two regiments, each practicing one half of R/D and whom have no contact with each other. This reform was completed this month and the defender regiment in particular has been performing well under the command of Joshua Il Sung, assisting the UDL to combat many amateur raiders attempting to attack regions.

Insanity At The Top

Since last update, the Prime Ministership has changed hands after John Smith went (figuratively) insane, creating multiple accounts and appointing the second one to the Supreme Court, before using it to spam. He was later removed from the Prime Ministership after the SDLP froze his membership and he then resigned citizenship.

Before his resignation Mr. Smith spoke to English Vietron of BITV, however his interview left many confused and offended after he insulted the Lord Chief Justice Windsor and claimed that the second account was not his and he didn't know the owner, yet at one point slipping up to say it was his roommate and he did know the owner.

Mr. Smith later created a new region "New British Isles" and attempted to declare war on British Isles but he was for the most part ignored, having no actual way to threaten the British Isles.

~ We hope you enjoyed this update from the British Isles. Enjoy your month and we'll see you again soon.

Regards,
Kingborough Edwick;
Secretary of Foreign Affairs of the British Isles.
