Poll: Council elections

Yes well if McMasterdonia wants to appoint people, I have no issue with that.

On a personal note though, I prefer to be voted in, Pasargad has already excused me of only getting the position because I'm friends with the delegate which is untrue.

it was intended as a joke to show they have no actual power beyond delegate's advisory position .

I'd prefer elections because it feels like other than these, there aren't really that many elections... But I say this as an insignificant citizen, where voting is my only chance to make a difference. If I were in government, I'm sure I'd be saying something different.

First of all, NOT MANY ELECTIONS? I honestly can't remember a time when campaigning or nominating or voting hadn't gone on in a week.

Second of all, that's a shit statement, WC. The point of democracy is that no one's voice is insignificant and that everyone has one. If you have a point to make, if you prefer elections, you can damn well say so.

I think the decision of McM concerning the latest council election has shown that his understanding of democracy is a little different to yours, Iro.

It's a matter of what the Constitution and laws have to say. Essentially, the Council functions like a Privy Council and serves at the Delegate's pleasure, as is the means of appointing Council Members. I fail to see the controversy.
