Hello all!

Following a wonderful one on one debate between Tim and Crushing Our Enemies, many are calling for a new debate between all the Candidates in this election for Speaker. I absolutely think this is a wonderful idea and I propose that we set out to hold this debate.

And now, an FAQ, to help explain who should be there and how it will work!

FAQ:
Q1. Who is invited to this debate as the Candidates?
A1: The following people are invited:
Tim
Iro
Govindia
Joshua
Crushing Our Enemies

Q2: Who will be moderating?
A2: I will be Moderating the debate and ask questions. There will be a second Moderator (Cormac) that will voice or devoice the Candidates and keep a level of decorum during the debate.

Q3: Where will it be held?
A3: Esper.net on the channel #tnpdebates

Q4: How will the debate be ran?
A4: People may send questions to the Moderators via query. The Moderators will choose which question to ask the candidates. Each candidate will be able to answer the question in their own fashion. Once every candidate answers the question, there will be a time limit of 90 seconds for the Candidates to debate each other freely on the question and provide a rebuttal to their opponents. Once two minutes passes, the Moderators will inform the Candidates their time is up and they will move onto the next question.

Q5: What if that open debate time period degenerates into personal accusations and slander?
A5: That's what the third Moderator is for. They will promptly devoice any Candidate who engages in such activity and will call for decorum. They could also end the open debate period for that question and have the other Moderators move on to the next question. Upon the end of the time period, any Candidate that has been devoiced will regain their voice.

Q6: Is there a three strikes system?
A6: Yes. That means if a Candidate is devoiced three times, they are promptly removed from the rest of the debate.

Q7: I feel I lost my voice unfair-
A7: Then leave. I don't want to hear it. I'm not up for any arguments and I certainly am not going to listen to people who try to argue with me. Is it harsh? Possibly, but argument shouldn't be required.

Q7: When will this debate be held?
A7: Whatever time best works for the Candidates is a time I am good for as well. I hope that this debate will take place before the polls open on January 11.

That's all there really is to it. I am available at any time to hold this debate. I am also looking for another Moderator to help me ask questions, if anyone is interested.

Sounds great, but wouldn't it be better to have it January? That way, the election won't be long gone and forgotten about ;)

Sounds good. If other candidates could post when they would be most likely available, that would be great.
 
Oh, and I should add that the hours of sleep I'm not willing to give up are 3 AM to 8 AM EST on any given day. Forgot about sleep :P
 
11 AM or PM? I may be able to do 11 PM, but would rather 10 PM EST or around that time, and that is good for me. I am happy to attend.
 
If we cannot compromise, 11 PM EST on Thursday will work for me. I look forward to it. *sharpens knives supercooly, winking at the camera*
 
10 PM would be earlier than Govindia is available. I think that's why Alvino chose 11.

Now, I suppose we're just waiting to see if Josh will be be able to make it.
 
Ach! A RL commitment has suddenly come up, and I may be late to the debate, or possibly miss it entirely. Nothing is certain at this stage. I'll try to keep everyone updated, but it's possible you might not hear from me. If I'm not there on time, don't wait up for me.

I'll still be holding the debate then, if the other Candidates are good for it.
