Stark for Speaker

Hey Folks, I'm Tim.
I would be honored to have your vote for Speaker of the North Pacific Regional Assembly. Running for a Speaker position is something fairly new for me, but I believe I am qualified to serve in the position. I have both read and studied the Constitution, as well as various other TNP Documents, and have a good understanding of The North Pacific's Laws and Procedures. In my opinion, the better you can understand the Procedures; the better of a Speaker you can be. I hope that you will consider my platform and consider voting for me.

PLATFORM

Up-To-Date Records
Up-To-Date records, or lack there of, are a big problem. Just recently, we had a situation where it was realized that the Membership Rolls hadn't even been updated with a player's current TNP nation. I would work to constantly be checking and updating the TNP Membership Rolls for maximum accuracy. This isn't the only instance of this, either. At the moment, we have multiple lists of people who have either not logged on or CTEd. Many of these people are still masked as RA/Citizen. I would like to see order and efficiency return to the Updating of the Membership Rolls, and would aim to update them as often as possible and necessary.

A Smoothly Running RA
I would like to see the Regional Assembly to be as Organized as it is possible to have it be, while keeping it running in a swift and efficient manner. I give a Campaign Promise that I will work to meet every single Deadline that is set, Moderate as fairly and justly as possible, and make sure that RA Decorum is observed. One of the key foundations to a strong Government is a strong Legislature. The North Pacific Regional Assembly should represent all the best qualities of a Strong Legislature, and I aspire to have it do that.

Speaker Availability
My aspiration would be to be a Speaker that is very easily approachable about matters and RA procedures. I'm supporter of a fairly large amount of Government transparency, and I believe that the Speaker should be subject to the same amounts of transparency. My "office" would always have an open door and I would gladly welcome inquiries on anything regarding the Regional Assembly. Whether someone would need to get a Regulation checked, or help on how to word a Bill, I believe that it would be my responsibility as Speaker to assist that person to my best ability.

I would be happy to answer any and all questions that people might have for me, no matter how silly they might be. I will answer these questions as honestly as I possibly can, and will answer them to the best of my ability.

Thank You,
Tim Locksley-Stark
Candidate for Speaker

I originally had a tad more trollish Title for that, but didn't fix the whole thing. This is what happens when you post platforms when not sleeping enough :P

In one sentence how would you describe the job Speaker Flemingovia has done this term?
I believe that Speaker Flemingovia has done a good job regarding Moderating the Regional Assembly, but I believe that he was lacking when it came to updating Membership Rolls.

I hope this answers your question. :)

A few questions:

1. What's your view on the Speaker's political neutrality? Will you vote anything other than Abstain on legislation and other RA matters and, if so, under what circumstances?

2. What do you believe the primary role of the Speaker should be?

3. Is your use of your surname in your campaign platform an attempt to capitalize on the enhanced popularity and better looks of your younger brother of the same surname? :P

Why should I vote for you?

Do you have experience being a Speaker?

How well can you be trusted to be impartial and keep your personal opinions out of the government work that needs to be done?

A few answers:

1) My view is that the Speaker's Political Neutrality is very important, since the Speaker of the Regional Assembly is quite an influential figure within the Legislative Branch. I plan to Publicly Abstain on Votes that come up in the Regional Assembly. The only time I could see myself potentially voting on something with something other than an Abstain vote would be to break a Tie.

2) I believe the Primary Role of the Speaker is to be the Impartial Moderator of the Regional Assembly, who keeps things running quickly and smoothly. So basically like the RA's Secretary, that organizes stuff and files things on time, etc.

3) If that floats your boat. Actually, it's because Stark looked better on the Campaign poster. Although I must admit, Brother, you do have some mighty good looks ;)

Kingborough:
I would vote for you but I'm selfish and don't want the Co6 to lose our fabulous MoFA. Sorry :(
Thank You for the Compliment. It's a fair argument :P

When should the legal code be updated after a vote in which a majority of aye/nay voters voted to adopt the proposal to amend it?

Apologies for not replying earlier. I missed your post due to it not having been approved at the time.

1. You should vote for me if you think I'm the right Candidate for the job. Personally, I think I'm the best candidate for Speaker or I wouldn't be running. Yet the other Candidates are also all good. Pick who you think is best. I believe my experience, activity, and dedication allow me to the best Candidate. Either way, it's for you to judge.

2. I do have some experience being a Speaker and with Organizing/Running Stuff. I was Grand Central's Senate Speaker for a few months, and I have had to do a lot of Impromptu Speaker workas the Founder of a pre-Government Spiritus.

3. I believe I can be trusted on the matter. I think I have shown a fair amount of Neutrality as Minister of Foreign Affairs, and have acted to what I believed were the best interests of The North Pacific. I plan to bring this attitude with me, to the Speaker position, where I would only act in what would hopefully be the best interests of The North Pacific. Obviously I would be accused of bias, at some point in time, because it's simply impossible to please all the masses. Still, I believe that I can show Neutrality and Impartiality when acting as a Moderator and Speaker for the Regional Assembly.

You have specifically stated to me that you would do everything you can to see me removed from this region, this forum , and nearly everywhere on NS. How can you be trusted to be objective and impartial?

One week after the Proposal passes, to give time for Delegate to veto it. If the Delegate does not veto the Bill, then in it goes. If he does, then it goes back to the RA.

FYI

A Few Questions:
1. What qualities do you feel are the worst traits about you?
2. What do you feel are your best qualities?
3. Regarding the small crisis over the two person Speaker debate... if you could go back in time, would you have asked other Speaker candidates to participate before posting an announcement?

A Few Answers:

1. Great Question. I think my worst traits are that I do have an occasional procrastination problem, although I've managed to conquer it thanks to a few essays that I realized that I couldn't put off. I'm also a bit of a Perfectionist, so if something isn't the way I see it then I try to fix it. Although that could be a bad or a good, I think I put it on bad since I tend to overdo/overfocus on those things then.

2. I believe that my best qualities are my creativity and my dedication to tasks. When I start a task, I generally don't stop until it's finished. I'm also very well organized, and am very good at keeping track of stuff. I'm fairly patient, as well, which I believe is a good thing.

3 Looking back at it, yes. At the time, both COE and I believed that it would be more efficient to have a Debate with just the Two of us. Now, thinking about it, I would have extended invitations to the other three candidates. As a note, I am still accepting Debate Challenges and would be happy to have a 5-Way Debate happen.

My personal opinions of people do not play into how I do my job as a Government Official of The North Pacific. Do I, personally, not like you? I'd be lying if I said that wasn't true.

However, I would be serving as a member of The North Pacific Government. This would require being unbiased and serving/acting in the best interests of The North Pacific. I believe that I have done this successfully as Vice Delegate and as Minister of Foreign Affairs, and I believe that I can serve as Speaker in the same unbiased manner.

How would you reconcile your strongly voiced political stances with the ostensibly neutral role of Speaker?

Which is worse, a gram of antimatter on top of you or a gram of matter traveling at nearly the speed of light toward you?

I'm able to be neutral when I need to be. This job is going to require a lot of Neutrality, so I'm definitely going to make sure I look more neutral, but it can be done. Many of my political stances are not affected by the discussion that goes on in the RA. Plus, I find that there are plenty of better people on both sides to do the yelling. At this point in time, I would definitely prefer being a neutral moderator instead of one of the people arguing within the RA.

AntiMatter, for sure. Gram of matter could rip off an arm or something, at that speed. AntiMatter would just go nuclear.

What is the formula for kinetic energy?
Kinetic Energy = (1/2)mv2, where m is mass, v is velocity.

And what is the energy of matter-antimatter annihilation?

And what is the kinetic energy of the nigh superliminal gram of matter?

I assume you mean antimatter meeting matter? In which case the release of the energy is proportional to E=mc2

As for the second one, stahp with the physics  I'm in Chemistry, not Physics

Ignoring your horrendous physics calculations, how would you respond to those who claim that a Speaker should be able to spell the word "coming"?
