Funk for Speaker

Hey TNP.

I would like to ask for your vote for me for Speaker of the North Pacific RA. I feel that I have the experience to be sufficiently qualified for this position. I feel that neutrality as a Speaker is very important. I feel that my track record, especially as an Associate Justice, shows that I can look at things objectively and keep personal beliefs and opinions separate when dealing with duties in the Regional Assembly. I will also carefully go over my possible selections for Deputy carefully and select the most neutral ones I can find. I will get my Speaker duties done quickly and efficiently, and ensure smooth process in the RA. The powers of the speaker have come up recently as a topic of debate. It is my belief that the Speaker should not overstep their bounds of the position. I feel that some authority must be taken over the Regional Assembly to ensure orderly and smooth functionality to the legislature, however nitpicking is not necessary in any stretch of the imagination. Basically, the Speaker should regulate things a little bit, but for the most part allow the Regional Assembly delegates do as they wish, as long as it is according to proper decorum.

This covers everything, I believe. Please lodge any questions at me here.

The RA has a long and storied history of taking a mile when given an inch. Why do you believe that it is in the best interests of the region to continue giving inches?

That's a good question, thank you for asking it.

The way I see it, if the RA attempts to take a mile as you suggest it might, I will just simply not allow it. I cannot think of a specific example where this could be applied to the RA at the moment, however I feel that the Speaker should just keep things running right, until they find that there is a need for action. Again, this is a bit difficult of a question for me to answer, but I'd say that as Speaker I would just let things run smooth and keep the RA happy unless there is something that is truly pressing and important that I would need to take action on. I hope this sufficiently answers your question.

Based on your statements, is it accurate to say that you believe the Speaker's role is to keep the RA happy, at least in part?

Okay, so let's say I say, "Wrong, utterly wrong. Nay!"

Or, "Absolutely. Aye!"

Would this be a permissible expression or do you want to impose a stricter order.

I feel that that sort of expression is quite acceptable. Long paragraphs and debate within the vote thread, I would not allow. However, something simple like that is appropriate.
