Since our last update, a special military update has been released showing the success of the FRA at minor update. This can be viewed in full here:

http://s7.zetaboards.com/FRA/single/?p=8361051&t=8324979

The FRA has cut back and concentrated most of its resources into combating raids at the 'Minor' update with some success. We have over 35 successful defences and four liberations since our last update on the 13th September. This is testament to the highly skilled and experienced nature of the Rangers; and hard work of our Chief of Defence Frattastan; when in recent months defender success has been few and far between. The FRA continues to work hard and closely with its fellow defender organisations in TITO and UDL, and with the slight change in variance effecting gameplay we hope to build upon these successful defences in order to further protect regions safety and security.

The Intelligence department has been hard at work. As usual the work is classified. If you would like to become involved in this kind of work please contact Guy on the FRA forums.

In other news, the Speaker of the Assembly, along with his Deputy People United Together of Atrigeas, have been busy at working dealing with a number of proposals and amendments to the Charter, as well as a plethora of 'Conferences' that have erupted in the Regional Assembly. One such conference has been discussing the future and direction of the FRA, posing serious questions about its current state and how the FRA should proceed in the coming weeks and months. All views are welcome and constructive criticism is encouraged.

After the retirement of our beloved Chin-Chillas there has been a hole in our Admin team on the FRA boards, and so Frattastan and for some unknown reason Wopruthien have been appointed as admins to the FRA forums. If you experienced any technical difficulties on the FRA forums, 'blame Wop' as he has most likely been playing around with the Admin CP again.

Finally the debate surround the naming of the 'Defender of the Year Award' formerly the 'Eurosoviets Award' seems to be reaching some kind of conclusion with a slight majority supporting the retention of its current name. However if you would like your say please follow the link below:

http://s7.zetaboards.com/FRA/topic/8618437/

Once again if there is any stories from our member regions you would like the FRA to cover in our updates please contact Wopruthien with the details.

Since our last update, the Founderless Regions Alliance has been hard at work defending countless regions, participating in 46 defences and liberations. The Rangers have been working hard winning plaudits from all over Nationstates including our opposition. Prioritising Defences rather than liberations, before any lasting damage can be done, the FRA successfully defended twenty-five regions from being invaded in October alone.

Sadly some raids were missed, and the Rangers have been able to successfully expand into doing four successful independent liberations. We continue to work hard and enjoy working with our fellow defenders, it is certainly encouraging that our Rangers are now able to run the occasional mission independently proving that the FRA is heading in the right direction.

The FRA was further encouraged by the return of the Liberty Alliance to it's member regions and with a potentially 2 regions close to submitting applications the FRA is finally dispelling the myth that our time is over.

You can also read a special Zombie Halloween update edition from the Fiendishly Repulsive Antagonists:

Finally the FRA is currently gripped by election fever with the democratic organisation nominating candidates for all positions across the Cabinet. With the conclusion of the FRA Conference the new Cabinet, and particularly the Head of the Organisation, the Arch Chancellor will have to work hard to implement some of the brilliant ideas presented by Regional Members.

If you want to nominate a candidate for any Cabinet position make sure to head to the Regional Assembly.

Greetings Nationstates Community.

It has been an exciting time in the Founderless Regions Alliance, with elections, Real-Life (What's that?!), Cabinet meet-ups, defences and Regional Assembly debates.

In the recent FRA elections, Wopruthien once again retained his seat as Arch Chancellor, becoming the joint most elected Arch Chancellor in FRA history, equalling Sedgistan's record of five terms in office. Frattastan of the San Francisco Bay Area and The Rejected Realms once again returned to Chief of Defence, for the Sixth straight term, but faced a tough opponent from Kogvuron also of San Francisco Bay Area and The United Federation, who was duly appointed as Deputy Chief of Defence along with Karputsk.

In the Regional Liaison Officer election, three candidates put their name forward for the position. The Incumbent Likako Nehio of New Sorvun, People United Together of Atrigeas and Karputsk also of New Sorvun. The three candidates fought in a lively and spirited debate, the liveliest election for a number of terms. Despite an extremely strong showing in the debates, with some tipping the man from Atrigeas to cause a shock upset, PUT announced his withdrawal from the elections only hours before polling was due to start. The FRA would like to send our best wishes to People United Together and wish him good luck in his future endeavours. With only two candidates remaining, between two region mates, Karputsk defeated the incumbent Likako Nehio taking 85% of the votes.

The Speaker of the Assembly saw the incumbent Wibblefeet of 00000 A World Power comfortably beat his opponent Abstain/Present with a full 100% vote, a clear vote of confidence in Wibble's outstanding work for the Alliance. The Minister of Intelligence elections saw Scoochi2 of Antarctica return to the shadowy Intelligence halls and he will continue the work of recently retired Guy of The Rejected Realms. Guy will be sorely missed by all who knew him, but has promised to return now and again.

In other news, Nationstates celebrated its 10th Year Anniversary and to celebrate members of the new cabinet, notably Wopruthien, Karputsk and long time member Flowering Staplers, aka Luna Dancing of Liberty Alliance met up for FRA's 2nd real life Cabinet meeting. Frattastan was notable in his absence, claiming he was unable to find the 'Move Frattastan to London' button. Despite this, along with representatives from Global Federation of Nations, Osiris and Hinduism, the FRA was able to discuss a number of points and work on the best way to proceed during this upcoming term. As a result Karputsk has been attending all member regions and will be evaluating and hopefully organising a revamp of our inactive protectorate regions, with a number of candidates which will be helped out in the future.

In military news, the FRA has conducted thirty successful defensive missions against various raider groups as well as a number of liberations. On a more recent update on the 13th November, the FRA along with members of the UDL successfully defended Seven regions against the Black Riders infamous tag raids, only failing to defend one region. It left TBR stunned who quickly retreated from the battlefield with over half an update to go. The FRA continues to win plaudits and is a constant presence on the battlefield, dispelling rumours of our inactivity.

The Regional Assembly has been a hive of debate over the past term, with 2 new admins, the admission of the Liberty Alliance into the region, the downgrading of four regions to Protectorate, a Charter amendment regarding elections, a number of spirited election debates and the FRA Conference which is still open for any new ideas should members/regions feel to add anything as a number of ideas are currently being implemented.

The new Minister of Intelligence has begun a recruitment drive, appointing Wibblefeet as his deputy who will handle the day-to-day running of the intelligence department.

Kogvuron has also been appointed Vice Chancellor, and is tasked with promoting the Founderless Regions Alliance's presence abroad.

Finally in a bizarre twist of events, Unibot III decided to share in the recent success and revival of FRA.... by wearing our flag. Frattastan, after returning from the World Fair, was seen laughing madly prompting Uni to change his flag. Events remain unexplained, but we'd like to thank Unibot for showing his appreciation. Evidence can be found below:

Thank you for reading.

Thanks for the update. Congratulations on your re-election. Good to see that Fratt was re-elected, and that Kogvuron was able to make a strong showing even against such an opponent.

Greetings Nationstates World.

The Founderless Regions Alliance continues to build on its success from previous weeks again winning plaudits for it's military success.

One unnamed source commented, 'I happen to believe that it's a sign of merit that the FRA continues to go out and do what it was founded to do despite everything no matter how small the force, no matter how great the animosity the FRA are still out there defending.'

It has no doubt been a rough year for the FRA with the closure of the alliance a real possibility. However, through the dedication and hard work of various individuals the Alliance is once again on the rise. Troops from Gay, 00000 A World Power, San Francisco Bay Area, The Rejected Realms, the Liberty Alliance and the odd flag from a former member region Royal Federation of Nations have once again been seen on the battlefield.

The FRA has deployed in solo liberations of Priory as well multiple successful defences against The Black Riders, The Black Hawks and an assorted array of other raider regions.

In the last week Karputsk, our Regional Liaison Officer has taken the FRA back to its roots, announcing the Regional Development Project. This is a team of active FRA members who will be helping our regions back onto their feet. Giving them some support and development. If you would like to volunteer or submit an application for your region to receive this aid you can contact Karputsk.

On a more cheeky note, the FRA this week offered The New Inquisition a position within the alliance. As TNI had lost its founder the FRA Arch Chancellor took it upon himself to offer the region a chance to join the FRA elite. A full statement can be read here:

http://forum.nationstates.net/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=9477&start=350

We are still eagerly awaiting a response from TNI.

I'd like to personally welcome our newest member into the alliance, the Libertarians United, who successfully joined the FRA. We look forward to working with the new region in the future.

On a final note, Chief of Defence Frattastan has finally made it to General. In a tight vote in the Regional Assembly, Frattastan was elected to the 2nd highest position within the Rangers. He still has a long way to go before he makes it to General of the Alliance, and so we anticipate he'll be around at least for a few months until he can claim that elusive top spot.

Once again thank you for reading.

Greetings Friends and Allies.

It has been a long month since our last update and the FRA has been extremely busy in that time. The 7th Annual Defender Awards have begun with nominations pouring in, our Rangers have been active as ever growing in numbers as well as Cabinet Elections.

There is just under a week to go to place a nomination in The 7th Annual Defender Awards. Opening on the 10th January defenders across the Nationstates world flooded in to propose and nominate players, regions and organisations for a plethora of awards. In usual style the awards were not without controversy with FRA and her ally region Mordor nominated for Worst Invasion Award for their attempted defence of Fluffy Bunny Town, while fellow organisation UDL were nominated for their unintentional 'coup on Osiris'. This has led to a number of arguments but has since settled down in usual fashion and good spirits. The FRA is pleased to announce a record number of nominations already with more to come, particularly in the 'Defender Quote of the Year Award' (which surprisingly only has a modest five confirmed nominations). A full list of confirmed nominations can be viewed here:

http://s7.zetaboards.com/FRA/topic/8772596/1/#new

Our recent Cabinet elections saw for the first time ever in our history all five of our cabinet positions returning the incumbents to office. Wopruthien, narrowly defeating New Sorvun's Likako Nehio for the position of Arch Chancellor. Notably Wopruthien has now broken Sedgistan's record for terms as Arch Chancellor, but has still some way to go before breaking the time in office due to shortening of term times.

Frattastan of The Rejected Realms returned to the position of Frattastan *cough* Chief of Defence, while Scoochi2 of Antarctica remains as Minister of Intelligence, expanding on the work done last term, increasing our agents and renewing links with old sleeper agents. The long term member of 00000 A World Power, Wibblefeet, has been elected Speaker of the Assembly announcing Seneca of Global Right Alliance as his deputy, while Karputsk of New Sorvun begun a second term as Regional Liaison Officer.

His work last term largely involved aiding regions in the Alliance which saw a revival of 0000 A World Power and New Sorvun, while Sovereign Liberties of Global Right Alliance beginning recruiting for the region. The Regional Development Programme put in place by Karputsk is looking to build on this recent success and looking for volunteers.

In recent months there has seen a drastic decrease in regional military. If you your region is interested in setting up a regional defence military and unsure where to start please contact Karputsk, Drop Your Pants or Wopruthien who will offer advice and guidance to build up your regional military.

The Rangers have been busy since the new year taking part in ten successful defences as well as aiding other defenders in attempted liberations of some of the larger raider occupations in Planet X and South Pacific. We will continue to strive and build our military in order to fight these destructive and long term occupations.

The Charter has recently been amended to clarify one of the more confusing sentences in the Charter which gave Vice-Chancellors but not the Arch Chancellor the ability to open embassy's and begin diplomatic relations with non-member regions. It has also clarified the number of Vice-Chancellors the Arch Chancellor can appoint addressing fears from New Sorvun that X amount of Vice-Chancellors could be chosen.

As mentioned the FRA intelligence service has already had a number of successful operations since the new year, and it's a department that is always expanding. Kogvuron of the Libertarians United has begun work of the Deputy Intelligence Minister. If you are interested in offering your services in one of the most successful and longest running departments please contact Scoochi2 or Kogvuron.

Again just to remind everyone that the 7th Annual Defender Awards has just under a week for nominations, with the voting procedure due to be announced shortly.

If your region has any story it would like shared please contact Wopruthien.

Greetings

It has been a very long time since our last official update and since then it has been all-change in the FRA administration and a very hectic last month. The Defender Awards have successfully been completed, FRA cabinet elections have taken place, and the rangers cause some controversy.

The Defender Awards saw a record turnout of voters and saw a number of surprise results and successes for the FRA. With over Seventy votes cast in the awards there was a huge increase in participation with a record number of nominations. Despite this the awards did not go without controversy and already the organisers are looking at ways to improve the awards. A topic will be started shortly for anyone to post suggestions.

In the past week the FRA Ranger Awards have been held. The FRA would like to say a huge thank you to Astarial for her help in supplying the awards. Despite this year having an extremely strong line-up, the Ranger of the Year for 2012 was won by Flowering Staplers/Luna Dancing for her outstanding dedication and hard work throughout the year. Although her real life workload increased at the latter end of the year, her impact and success cannot be overstated. Luna Dancing is one of the most underrated Rangers and her success is thoroughly deserving. In the Spotter of the Year, despite Karputsk winning the Ananke Award for spotting, there was only one clear winner. Frattastan, the winner, had accumulated thirty-one invasions over the course of the calendar year this despite only recording a few of them in his mission file. A number of service awards were handed out to various players and for the first time the Six Year Service Award was granted. For a full list of winners please follow the link:

http://s7.zetaboards.com/FRA/topic/8797829/1/#new

In recent weeks the FRA has held Cabinet elections. In what became a close encounter Wopruthien only narrowly beating Kogvuron by a single vote in the Arch Chancellor elections. Some political commentators have criticised Wopruthien’s lack of complacency in the run up to the elections while others have argued Wopruthien should be considering a new role within the FRA. Wopruthien however is said to be keen to finish off the job he has started and is eager to see the FRA expand and grow.

In the Chief of Defence position Frattastan chose to step-down with the intention of running for delegacy in one of our member regions. We wish one of the most respected defenders of the FRA all the best in his ‘semi’ leave of absence. This has left Karputsk to run for the position and was duly elected by ten votes to one, beating Kogvuron.

The Regional Liaison Officer saw Falconias return from retirement with the aim of continuing the excellent work of Karputsk. The Speaker of the Assembly saw Seneca join the Cabinet while the incumbent Wibblefeet moved from the Regional Assembly to take the role of Minister of Intelligence.

A few weeks ago now two of the FRA Rangers took it upon themselves to play a practical joke on Europeia during an invasion of Space. Despite using the two most obvious nations with a long history of involvement within Europeia the raider lead failed to notice or act on warnings about who they were, despite one of the Rangers moving in his Europeian Citizenship nation eleven hours before the next update. Though the FRA does not condone impersonation, we believe the reaction from Europeia to the practical joke, which saw a complete cut off of diplomatic relations as a gross overreaction. Karputsk has since apologised for his involvement in the practical joke, while Falconias, the former Europeian President has been warned and disciplined for flying a flag of a foreign region in which he has currently no involvement in. Despite this unfortunate practical joke done in arguably bad taste we do not feel it warrants a formal apology or the complete removal of diplomatic relations. The FRA is dedicated to defending any and all regions under invasion and in this case the FRA was successful in preventing further damage being caused to SPACE.

Falconias the newly elected Regional Liaison Officer has recently begun an ambitious recruitment drive for our member regions and is desperately seeking volunteers. Also included in his initiatives were Regional Flag days. As a result the Rangers will be and have been flying member regions flags to advertise their regions military. This has gone down a huge success and may become a permanent feature of the Rangers.

In other news the Founderless Regions Alliance has recently discovered there is a strong and growing feline influence on the Founderless Regions Alliance. It transpired that every member of the previous two cabinets owned cats. This feline influence eventually manifested on the 1st April 2013. Policies mandating cat-nip for all and balls of wool strewn across the Ratter’s sofa (Ranger’s barracks) had become compulsory. The Founderless Regions Alliance took the unprecedented decision to rebrand itself as the ‘Feline Resistance Alliance’ with the soul aim of “an alliance of regions dedicated to the causes of mousecatching and resisting human domination across the NS world.” Normal speak was outlawed and all posts were converted to Lolcatz, with one member stating: “Wre on teh rar ar, an waz makins a cumback.” However the Founderless Regions Alliance was soon restored after the effects of cat-nip had worn off. The regional assembly is looking at ways to prevent another event like this again.

If your region has any story it would like shared please contact Wopruthien.

For Immediate Release to Foreign Embassies

September 12th, 2013
Desk of the Arch-Chancellor

Hello friends, allies & enemies alike of the FRA and its member regions,

I am very excited to be able to make this address from the seat of the Arch-Chancellor once again. It was over 4 years ago that I last served as Arch-Chancellor, armed with a full rookie cabinet and an extremely fragile organization. I struggled through that term mightily. The only good thing that came from it was it forced some of the other old guard to come back from retirement and save the FRA. I was humiliated, and my dismal legacy as Arch-Chancellor was forever embossed in NationStates history as part of North Chittowa's Security Council commendation. I need no reminders of that embarrassing mistake - I have no intentions of repeating the same experience twice.

I am pleased to announce an outstanding cabinet with veteran experience. Frattastan will once again serve as our Chief of Defence, and Karputsk will specialize in Intelligence. Our non-military affairs will be taken care of by Regional Liaison Officer Azerzia and Speaker of the Assembly Ironicness. This entire crew has existing Cabinet experience and are terrific defenders. In addition, I am pleased to announce one of my runner-ups in a controversial election, Flowering Staplers, will serve as my Vice-Chancellor for this term. "Luna," as she is affectionately known, will be a nice check-and-balance to my hardline policies.

The Founderless Regions Alliance has been status quo for quite some time now. I remember a time when the FRA hosted the Defender Awards with pride, because it was the largest and most powerful defender organization in the game. Now the FRA hosts the Defender Awards as a tradition more than a symbol of organizational pride, a testament to the failures of my predecessors to make dynamic change. That isn't to say Frattastan, Karputsk or Wopruthien were bad leaders; quite the contrary, as they made the FRA stable, and even more importantly, sustainable. However, we have sat idly like rubber ducks on the lake on a calm day, and the UDL has surpassed us in size and strength. We can laugh all we want at their shortcomings, but the state of reality is the UDL is bigger and better than us. This should have never happened - we are the longest-running interregional defender organization in NationStates history and goddammit we should also be the best.

Sustainable was the first step; enabled is the second.

Our first action under my leadership is the founding of a new region, In Defence of NationStates. This region will follow the same line of thinking as NATO; a body of nations signed on as signatories. I will be putting my blood and real-life money to make this region grow quickly. One of the FRA's faults is it has relied on its member regions to bring in new blood, and if "outsiders" sign up to join the FRA, we discourage them by sending them back to member regions before they can get involved at the organizational level. There's too much elitism and red-tape in this process, and it is hereby eliminated. With the creation of IDNS, we will be recruiting new people directly into the defending world. Liberations and high-security operations will still be done from the FRA sphere however; we need to retain control over our internal security in order to plan liberations and expect them to be successful.

I am also pleased to announce a summit, creatively titled the FRA-UIAF Summit, to begin September 14th and last indefinitely. The FRA will be represented by myself, Karputsk and Frattastan; and the UIAF represented by North East Somerset, Christopher Bishop, and Charles Cerebella. North East Somerset and myself expect that by the end of this summit, the war on the FRA will end and the FRA-UIAF will agree on rules of engagement to improve raider-defender quality of gameplay. Not only this, but the FRA and UIAF do share a common goal: defence of game-created regions and the upholding of legitimately selected delegates in these regions. With an agreement in place between our two organizations, coups and griefing of game-created regions will effectively become a thing of the past. Should our two parties agree on a treaty and the FRA and UIAF's respective memberships sign off, we will be approaching game-created regions to notify them of our commitment to upholding their freedoms without sticking our nose in their affairs.

Where my plan takes the FRA, I do not know. I do know, however, that I have the tools and expertise to make successful change a real possibility, and I am finally surrounded by a team I can be proud of to push this organization over the top.

Long live the FRA.

Falconias
Arch-Chancellor

That Ironicness guy is sure to make a dent in his third term. From a TNP point of view, that is.

lol. As I have said elsewhere, I really look forward to seeing what Falc does with the FRA. His inaugural address has caused quite a bit of discussion on the NS forums.

Founderless Regions Alliance Update - 1st December 2013

Hello,

My name is Flowering Staplers and I have been elected as the new Arch Chancellor of the FRA. I've been defending now for four (ish) years on and off with the FRA and serve within the UDL as Militia. I was awarded Ranger of the Year in 2012 and was runner up in FRAvision of that year. I run a successful NationStates Blog called NS Moments which gives me a place to spot all those little weird things about NationStates.

Elections have just come to an end with a new cabinet in place. It was close between the two Speaker candidates however Ironicness pulled away from Seneca to win the role. He has announced his deputy, Christian Democrats. There were no confirmed nominations for the role of Regional Liason Officer and so nominations will reopen soon. If you feel you can talk to regions you've never been to before, have motivation that can last two months, and enjoy talking about food you could be a perfect candidate! Tim and Guy tested their brain powers for the role of Intelligence Minister, with Guy pulling ahead with a 7-1 vote. Karputsk is back as the Chief of Defence, I'm sure the term will be equally as successful as the last. The role of Vice-Chancellor has been selected. Guy has agreed to take on the role as well as his Intelligence duties.

I would like to thank Falconias and his cabinet for the work they did last term and I hope to build on that this term.

Within my term I do not want to see the FRA past page 10 in Gameplay (I thought sedge had archived it within a secret area until I found it...). So frequent updates, with the same FRA that you know and (even secretly) love. But it's not just me that makes the FRA machine work. I want to see the recruitment office do more than sit there. With no elected official, and the term continuing from the last RLO. I will sit in those shoes and keep the office ticking over until someone permanent can step in. I love that the Rangers have themed flag and nation days. I want to keep that going. Right now we're not doing great against tag raids and so energy needs to be put back into the Rangers (I hope you feel up to it Karp!) to prevent us from having to detag.

Discussion is beginning on the Defender Awards of 2014, this can be found here! (clicky!) The awards have been hugely successful in the past and hopefully will break another Awards record for this year. If you do not want to join the forum then please let us know by the Gameplay forum any improvements you want to make or things you love.

In other news, the FRA has been on several defences against the many many tag raids that have been thrown our way and several liberations. The Regional Assembly has been lagging in activity recently however it will hopefully pick up with a new cabinet in place. The RA are currently discussing how to make the position of Regional Liason Officer look appealing and nominations have just reopened for that position.

Thank you for reading.
