Kingborough for Speaker

Hello.

Let me introduce myself - I am Kingborough, candidate for the position of Speaker of the Regional Assembly this election. I am a dual roleplayer and gameplayer, and TNP citizen, RA member and North Pacific Army private. I am also founder of a successful roleplay region and have held government office in several regions.

Having kindly been nominated for the elections I have decided to run with the aim of helping shape the North Pacific's government and legislative policy to make our region better.

I would therefore like to declare my platform as I run this election.

I would as Speaker work to inspire and start debate over worthwhile laws, with an aim to provide encouragement for the Regional Assembly's members to make progress in making TNP government more transparent, and upholding current rights - something all people should have an interest in. I feel this is how the RA should operate - encouraging new and old membership to engage in the process.

I hope you will vote Kingborough for speaker, and if you have any questions please post them here and I will respond in a timely manner.

As your opponent in the Speaker elections, I would like to ask though, do you have any experience in being a Speaker sir?

Personally experience as some position doesn't matter to me. I had no Delegacy experience before voted in in Taijitu. Again, I had had no court experience before being voted Associate Justice here. I think you would do well, and best of luck, Kingborough.

What is your position regarding the bill of rights?

Do you intend to uphold all of them or some of them?

If legislation was proposed, for example, to allow nations to be ejected from the region by a vote of the assembly, or other such legislation akin to ostracism, that could be viewed as circumventing the requirement for criminal proceedings and deemed in violation of the bill of rights... if you were the speaker what would your position be?

Uhm why would he need experience? You learn on the job pretty quick I would think.

I would say it would be more problematic if he was argumentative and got into fights with people on the forum. A problem you seem to have.

I believe everyone else has answered this question for me, but I will also respond. I do not have any experience, but I have the determination, time and may I dare say intelligence and I have already spent time reading up on all laws concerning the position. I believe that should be enough for any person, as otherwise you would never have a Speaker as everyone would need to have experience in a position in order to be elected to that position in the first place - a contradiction that would spell disaster.

What is your position regarding the bill of rights?
I believe that the bill of rights is admirable thing for the North Pacific to have, and I support it fully.

Do you intend to uphold all of them or some of them?
If you are going to have a bill of rights, you must uphold all or not - not whatever suits you at the time.

As a RA member I would object to such legislation, as it would certainly either be in violation of the bill of rights or a loophole to get around, but as Speaker I would be neutral as I believe my position deserves neutrality, and I would handle it like any other bill deserves.

Also, thank you to everyone who has posted their support. I'm honoured and I hope I can live up to such expectations if elected.

I applaud newcomers who wish to take an active role in government. I think it keeps TNP vibrant.

Best of luck in your campaign!
