I would like to ask the Election Commission to please organize one or more debates between the Delegates during the period between Nominations and Voting.
Why not? Wouldn't that be the most feasible manner?Govindia:If any debates are to happen, they should be on these forums and NOT on IRC.
I strongly disagree.Govindia:If any debates are to happen, they should be on these forums and NOT on IRC.
IRC is not legally recognised as a form of communications by TNP, only the WFE, RMB, and forum are.Tim:I strongly disagree.Govindia:If any debates are to happen, they should be on these forums and NOT on IRC.
One of the points to a debate is to put a candidate on the spot. IRC can do that. It's much more fast-paced and you can't exactly stall off for too long on it.
Doing it on the forum can give a candidate hours at a time to think of a perfect answer to any question and gives a much less accurate analysis of the Candidate than a Live IRC Debate would.
So because IRC is not legally recognized, we shouldn't use it... Even if it is more efficient for the purpose of what we are doing?Govindia:IRC is not legally recognised as a form of communications by TNP, only the WFE, RMB, and forum are.Tim:I strongly disagree.Govindia:If any debates are to happen, they should be on these forums and NOT on IRC.

And not everyone has access to the IRC channel, denying people access to having questions answered and watching of the debates
Well I'd like the ELECOM to confirm this.Tim:So because IRC is not legally recognized, we shouldn't use it... Your suggesting to have it on the forum doesn't make sense, since we already have the Campaign/Exploratory Threads.
As well as this, I am highly doubtful that we would be doing the debates in #tnp. There would most likely be a separate channel made by the Election Committee, so they are able to mute and then voice those people who are asking questions. My thoughts are that the debate would work in the same basic form as to how a MaxChat works, where people get voiced so they can ask a question, and then remuted again.
You do realize that #tnp is not the only channel in existence, correct?Govindia:IRC is not legally recognised as a form of communications by TNP, only the WFE, RMB, and forum are.Tim:I strongly disagree.Govindia:If any debates are to happen, they should be on these forums and NOT on IRC.

He is being treated equally. I don't see any inequality about this.Grosseschnauzer:Govindia is entitled to be treated equally with respect to any debates involving the candidates for the office he is seeking.
It really shouldn't be necessary to spell that out.
It hasn't been confirmed what channel has been used.Tim:He is being treated equally. I don't see any inequality about this.Grosseschnauzer:Govindia is entitled to be treated equally with respect to any debates involving the candidates for the office he is seeking.

It seems that his concern was that the debates would be held in #tnp, from where he is banned. We would be using a different channel for the debate, so I do not see how it could be a problem.

Considering a debate itself has been requested and not confirmed by the Election Coms nor has IRC been confirmed as the method of conducting the debate, it makes sense that it has not.Govindia:It hasn't been confirmed what channel has been used.Tim:He is being treated equally.
