Felasia for Delegate

Felasia

TNPer
Greetings,

As you may have seen in the election topic, I have accepted the nomination to run in this January 2010 election for the position of World Assembly Delegate of The North Pacific. I am grateful for this opportunity given to me and would like to thank JAL for his trust in me.

Firstly though, I would like to introduce myself first. I'm a 19 year old university student living in Bangkok, Thailand. My career in NationStates started four years ago when I joined Equilism. Having little to no knowledge about how gameplay worked, I arrived in the most interesting time of the region with the separation between Imperial Equilism and the Government-in-Exile. The conflict intrigued me and I stuck around after the reunification to see what was so great about this game and immediately got addicted to it. During my four years in the region, I was their Chancellor of Defense, UN Delegate, Chancellor of Foreign Affairs, Lord Chancellor (Head of Government), Advocate General (Justice), Governor General, and am currently a Global Moderator on their forum.

My story with TNP is as interesting as it could be. I became interested in the region after having learned that Lewis & Clark (aka Westwind), then founder of Equilism, was elected as UN delegate of this region. After I had moved here for a couple of weeks, I was then contacted to help in the overthrow of the government of The North Pacific to “start the conflict” in NationStates again. It was a good concept then with all the plans that we had and I believed that TNP gained more then it lost from having two sides in one region, but in fact I realized afterward that it was only a short-term solution and we failed to build an active and vibrant community from the conflict. Activity soon died down after the conflict ended and I was left in the region trying to rebuild, but with the mark on my head as a “coup member” and a belief that TNP needed a reshape to survive the change in NS. I was very disappointed with the lack of action and soon left TNP.

I returned recently, having learned that JAL was running for this same position four months ago. It had given me hope that perhaps this was the time that TNP would adapt to the continuing decline in NS. I became an active member of TNP again and rose to become Minister of Military Affairs after major inactivity in the government. During my short time in the post, I have resurrected the North Pacific Military, tackled the problem of Adspam, and conducted TNP's first successful military operation in more than 4 months.

In my opinion, the North Pacific must focus on its internal affairs. Activity is crucial for the continued existence of democracy and freedom in this region. I firmly believe that a combination of government activity, recruitment effort, RMB activity, and fun/event/RP will lead to an opportunity to growth for the North Pacific. If elected delegate, my first policy will be to focus on our internal affairs by organizing a recruitment attempt aimed at the region's mostly inactive population. I intend to recruit both old members using E-Mail/PM and new members using mass-telegrams to The North Pacific’s population.

I intend to combine the political intrigue of the government, diplomacy, and military with the fun and more relaxing side of RP, events, and games. My government will consist of both older and newer nations in the region as I am looking to hear from everyone. It would be simply ridiculous to believe that I could run the North Pacific by myself and I will be delighted to receive any assistance and suggestion from everyone.

As for my Foreign Affairs policy, I hope to create better relations with other feeders. Each feeder may be different in detail, but I believe that the similarity that we share means that we are more alike than UCRs and that it’s crucial that we present a united front in this troubled time in NationStates. I will also continue the recreation of our neutral military force, but that will be of second priority to our attempt on Internal and Foreign Affairs.

In conclusion, I intend to be heavily involved in all areas of the government as much as the time will allow me. I hope to bring new players to the forum, lure old players back into the game, and recreate the activity we have seen after each war without resorting to conflict, but most importantly I intend to reshape The North Pacific into an active community again.

Thank you for your consideration and I will be happy to answer any questions that you may have.

Sincerely,

Felasia

P.S. My WA in the region is Denarian Knight with 81 Endos.

Thank you for the question and it's great to see that you are still around. :)

Getting peoples to become more interest in TNP affairs will needs a combination of serious political, military, and diplomacy business along with fun activities such as Role-Playing and events. I believe that both sides of the game interest different kind of players and that the decision to go either way cause more harm than good to the region.

But firstly, we must inform the player that these oppotunities exist as well through the regional message board and telegrams. My priority will be to organize a "welcome" team in the same way that UCR have their recruiter with a lot of telegrams and discussion on the RMB. I will also try to welcome them myself as Delegate when I am available.

The follow up after they join the forum will consist of a program like a "mentor system" that will allow new nation to ask for assistance from older nation. I will also hold several events on the forum that concentrated more on the "fun" side of getting to talk with other nations or participation in less serious game like nation creation competition or fantasy football alongside the more serious side of the game with advertisement of reformation of the North Pacific military and foreign affairs. I will also be proposing the review of the constitution in order to continue the discussion that was never finished in the Regional Assembly about the CLO.

Another thing that I intend to look into is of the forum, I hope to be allow to talk with Administrator teams and other members on the forum so that we can perhaps come up with a more friendly and accessible forum for new member.

You have been involved in the Crimson Order before, serving with Westwind as he blatantly ignored the Constitution and laws of TNP.

How can we trust you to always abide by the laws and Constitution of TNP and not fall down that path?

Would you make this region a defender region or a neutral one?

What are your goals for foreign affairs and defence?

What do you think can be done to boost RP in this region? :ADN:

This is a really tough question to answers, I could probably try and reassure you that I am now good, innocent, and all that things that up hold democracy and freedom, but the best answer for your question is that I see no reason to do that anymore. The event have already proved to me that the conflict only result in short-term activity even with all the planning we have, but right now what TNP needs is a long lasting activity resulting from the community.

And for your information, I never serve Westwind. He may be my friend and then my boss in Equilism, but he doesn't order me what to do. I make my own decision to help him start the conflict.

Would you make this region a defender region or a neutral one?

Either neutral or a combination of raider and defender like TWP had. It will be mainly up to the region population when I brought this up to them in the RA if I'm elected since I don't believe I can make this decision alone.

What are your goals for foreign affairs and defence?

As I have stated on my introduction, I intend to focus on improving the relation with other feeders. Although, relation with UCR will not be ignore. I also hope to be able to provide monthly update to other regions again. Defence will not become my priority as I will have to focus on the internal affairs of the region first, but I do hope I will be able to focus on our intelligence network and have a talk with high influence nation in TNP about forming a defense network to prevent the region from hostile takeover or rogue delegate.

What do you think can be done to boost RP in this region?

RP is not really my strong point and I hope to slowly restart this by creating a guideline for RPer in TNP, but I will have to do some talking with some of the RP players in the official forum, nations in TNP, and more knowledgeable RPer like Todd McCloud and Kanderin before making any more decision about this.

There will also be an appointed RP Gamemaster who will oversee that all RP is done accordingly to the agreement to prevent any out-of-character conflict and give out advice to new RPer.
