I must admit to being overwhelmed in the last day or so by the reaction to my Real Life situation. It has been a real reminder to me why I started playing NS some four years ago, and why I am still playing today.
In particular the cabinet have been compassionate beyond belief in trying to find a formula where I can stay on as elected delegate, but Sydia and others take on the day to day operation of the delegate.
However, I have come to the conclusion that this would be grossly unfair on Tresville, Sydia, and the rest of the cabinet. I feel it would be much better for the region for me simply to resign as delegate, effective immediately.
Constitutionally, this means that Sydia becomes delegate. Further announcements will probably be forthcoming about selecting a new vice delegate.
There is a certain amount of relief in this announcement. I can now concentrate on my family situation without worrying about NS. There is also, however, a lot of guilt. When I stood for election, it was with the very best of intentions, and I wish I could have set in motion some of the things I wanted to do this term.
But I have learned never to say never in Nationstates. Perhaps once my dad's situation is clearer I will have more time to devote to this game that I love.
