The Diplomatic Corps: An Introduction
As a newly accepted member of TNP's team of representatives, you will no doubt be curious as to where to start! There are many opportunities available to you within the Diplomatic Corps - these will be elaborated below, along with other basic information to give you a bit of an overview of what our department has to offer.
Ambassadorship
This will be of greatest interest to those who are inclined towards direct diplomacy. There are several ranks within this wing:
Ambassador-General
Senior Ambassador
Ambassador
Consul
Special Envoy
The job description of each is detailed in the Organizational Code. Most applicants will begin their career with us as an Ambassador - predominately assigned to regions of lesser prominence, in order to prove their capabilities before moving upwards. All TNP diplomats have many duties, on top of the standard update-posting.
Such duties include designing and updating a report - uniquely profiling the region you have been assigned to. This will need to be written up a week after having been posted to a region (at latest) - and updated at least once per month.
The reports will need to follow these guidelines...here's an example for your reference.
On top of posting updates (provided to you by the MoEA office), and compiling a report, Ambassadors are also very much encouraged to intermingle with the citizens and government of their assigned region. By getting involved in the social life of foreign regions, their power of influence within that community potentially benefits very greatly. This is both a great advantage to them personally, and to TNP's diplomatic interests in general.
Become Involved: The Steps.
1. You applied for membership within The Diplomatic Corps.
2. You were accepted, and received an introductory PM, linking you to this thread, and detailing your assignments.
3. You must officially accept your assignment by following the directions given in the PM.
4. You will then receive further instruction via PM in regards to how to begin becoming involved - including additional information on updates, reports, and diplomatic opportunities available to you in your particular region.
5. Make us proud.
Not a veteran 5 Star General?
Doesn't matter. The Diplomatic Corps is very welcoming of applicants that it sees as having political potential. If you are a relative newcomer, you honestly could not have chosen a better place to begin expanding your reputation.
As a newly accepted applicant - your first task is to prove your capabilities and loyalty to the government by performing diligently and competently on your first assignment. The Ministry is headed up by various experienced officials - including our Ambassador Generals - who will be keen to help you out with whatever you require. We're looking for up-and-comings who show a promising degree of dedication, intelligence, respect and level-headedness - and those that bear these qualities will find their progress into higher-level responsibility swift.
If you can pull off a successful career here at the Diplomatic Corps, a whole world of political opportunities here in TNP, and in many places abroad, will open itself up to you.
The Coffee Lounge.
Swamped and bogged down in a quagmire of diplomatic frustration, here is where our our ill-humored ambassadors gather to tell all about that (suspiciously exaggerated) knee-slappingly hilarious incident that occurred over in some far-away land from here.
The Diplomatic Agency
Yet to be fully established, this department will consist of appointed ambassadors and various other officials who are charged with the duty of proposing long-term diplomatic schemes.
Being expected to first forge a respected, trustworthy reputation for themselves, and encouraged to possess a more or less sound understanding of current feeder politics, only the more senior of staff will be eligible for the Agency.
