Per the Constitution all members of the election and appointed government of The North Pacific must check into their account here on the forum within a 14 day period. Eluvatar has failed to do so.

This, coupled with the fact that he has neglected to post his Oath of Office within the mandated 7 day period, has resulted in consultation between the Delegate and myself, as Chief Justice, with the conclusion being that an immediate election of replacement must take place.

Grosseschnauzer has agreed to stand for the election. In the interests of orderly continuity of the governmental apparatus I believe it to be in the best interests of the region to proceed with the election at the earliest possible time. Therefore the nomination period for the special election will begin immediately and close Monday at noon EST, with the election starting immediately thereafter.

If there are concerns regarding the process or more time is believed to be warranted please contact me via Private Message and I will take all concerns into consideration.

It would be accurate to say that I've been drafted to run in view of the emergency. I've stated that I would accept a draft to be nominated.

The situation does point out the need for the RA to provide for similar circumstances in the future (i.e. Acting Speaker or Speaker Pro Tempore.)
 
I will close the nomination period in 1.5 hours. Provided no other candidates are nominated in this period of time I will open a thread in the Voting Forum for RA members to vote Aye or Nay on the candidate for Speaker.
