*Darktan places both front paws together, bowing his head very low and crouching

Squeak squee eek ik snns squeeeeeeeak ik ik eeek.

Yes, down here. *waves a tiny paw in greeting*

My name is Darktan, and I am the senior rat of the Educated Rodents. I have recently moved to this region and it has been suggested several times that I might join the forums. Now, I'm not sure how much there is on these forums to interest a rat, even an educated one, but I'm willing to give anything a go.

Oh, errrr, and, as a side note, myself and the rest of us rats would very much appreciate it if you would stop using any kind of rattraps, poisons and the like. In exchange for this courticy, we shall agree to not eat your food without asking, not widdle on anything that belongs to you, and not to go swimming in anything you humans might want to eat. Fair deal?

Ah, thanks for the welcome, both of you. There's no need to assign any special humans however, the Educated Rodents have developed techniques to disable most rattraps and we have also been researching methods to reverse the more nastier affects of the poisons that you humans use, the problem with this of course is that it takes a lot of time and can really slow down a rat's day if he's got to keep his eye out for traps and poisons and such. So it'd just be nicer if you humans didn't use it. No need to fear other rats of a decidedly uneducated nature, because we rats are quite territorial and we will keep them keekees [stupid rats] well away from here.

:( *Darktan places his left paw out in front dramatically following this with a rather mournful 'squeeeeeak'

Well, I guess I'll take the trap squad for now, but can we at least agree not to lay any new traps/poison?

Oh, and it's also worth mentioning that we Educated Rodents also know how to use fire, and we have even been working on some poisons of our own. I can even use what would pass for a sword in the rat-world.

*Darktan takes out a miniature sword from his tool kit which is about twice the length of his body.
So, about those traps?

No worries...we are more Anti Marsupials than we are anti rodent!! I think your safe...plus we can use u guys to spy on Gatesville for us!! lol

Welcome Darktan!

Thats an excellent idea Tresville. They'd never see it coming...I don't believe mice have ever been used as a war tactic before. Could be rather interesting. ;)

Welcome! Are you a mouse or a rat, then? If you are a mouse I shall call your Gerald.

*Darktan sits back on his hind legs and places his head to one side.

(nearest translation to this is 'ohmygod'.)

I am a rat. However, I am not a rat. I am more than a rat. I am a rat, who knows he's a rat.

I will however freely admit that my signature is a little confusing. It's a saying that we have in the Trap Squad. It demonstrates what happens to the careless mouse who does not stop and think, who is only driven by instinct to get whatever food has been put carelessly upon the floor. The stupid mouse who acts like a mouse gets the trap, and thus, gets killed. The smart mouse however thinks to himself, 'eh, look at the first mouse over there. I don't want to end up like him'. The second mouse is therefore driven to think, watch and listen. Signs that the ground has been tampered with, smells in the air and so on. There are always ways to tell if there's a trap or poison close by. Second mouse learns his lesson however, because he is patient and bides his time. He studies these traps and poisons, and therefore, he gets the cheese.

It's just a saying I made up to teach other rats to think. We don't like talking about other rats getting traps though, so we used 'mouse'.

Oh yes, and my name is Darktan. The entire group of us lived in a dump, and we gave ourselves names we saw on tins and packets and so on. There's Big Savings, Peaches, Dangerous Beans, you get the idea.

Anyway, thanks for all the welcomes, now I'd be very pleased if someone might point me in the right direction as to what I should do now that I'm here. At present I'm trying to decide how exactly changing the system of democracy will change the lives of rats.

Mice eh? good luck in finding good intelligent mice. This is another important thing about rats. We don't like being called mice.
