Your favourite Pacific

Just because. And you can't vote for the North.

Mine's The West Pacific, they always seemed the most 'normal'. I just realised I know next to nothing about The South Pacific; The East has that wacky Empire business going on, and I view The Pacific like I view Germany; enemies long ago but all friends now.

For s'n'gs I'll add in Lazarus and the RR.

I've always viewed it as a bit of a Cold War structure.

The North and West pacific seem somewhat like the US, prosperous, nominally democratic and rather okay, if a bit corrupt and too fond of themselves (sorry, can only speak for the North and myself there). The East and the seem a bit more Soviet-like, with all their talk of Glorious Leaders and Revolutions etc.

Strangely, I have absolutely no idea what the South is like. I'd struggle to name a single delegate of the South. Infinite Loop?

tep, not the wacko "bow before me"invaders from twp etc, but the genuine communiy

Did you type that on a Blackberry or something, flem? ;)

I voted for the West. I'm not really familiar with the South or (pre-Empire) East. I've occasionally lurked, but didn't get around to registering on The Pacific or Lazarus forums, and my RR activity has been very low.

When I typed my last post my keyboard was kaput and I was using the mouse and the onscreen keyboard. Ever tried that? You are lucky it was legible at all.

Bzzt :P Nswiki entry on TSP

    * New Ali
    * Killer Monkeys
    * Killer Monkeys turned the delegacy over to Goddessness
    * The XYZ_Affair gains the delegacy and subsequently executes mass-ejections.
    * The Fathoms Below gained the delegacy. This nation was hacked by The XYZ_Affair, who ejected numerous people including the delegate herself.
    * Garylandia
    * Gatren then gained the delegacy, but was removed from office for a four month old accidental UN violation.
    * Alpha C inherited the delegacy, but he was removed from accidental multi-UN accounts while on his honeymoon. He had asked Desert Rose to watch his nation, but she had another UN nation on her computer, and both nations were thus ejected from the UN.
    * LadyRebels manages to gain enough endorsements to replace her friend, Alpha C, at the request of her sister, Desert Rose.
    * LadyRebels stepped down due to illness and THE MATT-DUCK gains the delegacy.
    * THE MATT-DUCK returns delegate seat to LadyRebels and steps down.
    * The Shaft (htz3) then took over in place of LadyRebels because she had stepped down a second time.
    * Caer_Rialis then succeeded The Shaft,
    * Goddessness then succeeded Caer Rialis.
    * In early April 2006, Goddessness left for personal reasons, and was replaced by Caer Rialis
    * Caer Rialis stepped down as Delegate on Monday 3rd July 2006 to be replaced by Fudgetopia, a long standing member of The South Pacific. Fudgetopia easily secured the required endorsement count following unanimous approval from the members of the Region...
    * Fudgetopia has remained in the Delegate's seat for over 430 days, providing consistent leadership and maintaining the freedom and democratic rights of its members...Several half hearted attempts to seize the delegacy were mounted, but the hard working intelligence and security contingent have assisted Fudgetopia...

we're still here....just one of those mini region in S. Africa or the S. Pacific that no one can name :P

Loop's ... um TEP, ya know?

The North obviously is first. The West Pacific Second, The Pacific 3rd (It's just very different and I like that aspect), The South Pacific (I was a regular there back in the Lady Rebels days) The RR (cause of Kandarin mostly), Lazarus (because of its history, I helped them during my Defender days and I am cool with a few of their people ...NH ) and The EP (last only because I could never really get active there....only person I really know from there is Loop).

See what I mean about TSP? I've overlooked it entirely. Now that you mention the list, "Caer Rialis" strikes a bell - but only because he was in power when I first took an interest in feeder affairs. Incidentally, it is pure chance that I went to TNP then; it was the only one in open conflict at the time, and the whole Pixiedance thing caught my attention.

Also, thanks for linking me to nswiki.net. For the past year or so, I've been checking the archive at goobergunch.net and waiting for it to open again. Heh.

Comedy "wa wa waaaaaa" trombone.

430 days as delegate?! Are they insane? Kudos on the lack of nutjobs achievement, maybe TNP will have the same one day.

Well, I can dream.

The North Pacific is my favorite Pacific region! Period!

I voted for the South Pacific - they seem like nice folks but I'm not planning to move there!

You have no idea. :P

As you may have guessed, I like the Rejected Realms, my home and native land, the most. The atmosphere is great, the people are nice, the politics are sane, and we get front-row seating on everyone else blowing each other up.

Aside from that, I like TEP, my other home and native land. The RP stuff is great (we're working on getting that going again) and the people are excellent, even if the politics are a lot more confusing and dramaful now. TNP and TWP are also always worth my while to visit, although I must admit I haven't paid much attention to TP and TSP for a long while now.

That does sound like fun, especially the front row seating bit!

Maybe I will pop in for a visit the next time we have a delegate go rogue.

Had to vote TSP in this one. It was my entry into feeder politics, and I'll always consider it my home. Close second comes TRR, mainly because I put a lot of work into that region and am very happy to have set up a government there with the help of other natives. Next probably comes TEP, since I actually found out I like to RP, then TNP, TWP, Laz, and I've never been involved in TP, so I guess that one's last.

The REAL East Pacific. Not this silly Empire nonsense. That was my original home.

TSP, meh.

The West Pacific, nothing more than a oligarchic autocracy from what I've seen. Not a true democracy <_< :ADN:

i speakk the truth.

If they claim to be a democracy, they should stop being a oligarchic autocracy run by a bunch of immature fools with ties to the empire

If the West Pacific is an Oligarchy, then it is one with a very broad base of West Pacificans. While TNP may like to be more open to new members (though still paranoid about them) I respect the West Pacific's policy.

I agree that Govindia very likely dislikes the West's system because the West Pacific decided to permanently ban him from their region.

The Guardians are a codified version of what most feeders have these days.

They are the people that have been in the region for a long time, have medium to high levels of Influence and can not be ejected and banned en masse by a sitting Delegate.

We have the same thing here with Great Bights Mum, Former English Colony, Kitabo and a few others. These nations have medium levels of endorsements and enough Influence to prevent a "rogue" Delegate from completely disregarding the Constitution or whatever form of government is supported by the active masses.

This revision of feeder politics has led me personally to re-evaluate my opinion on the sole right of the Delegate to determine the form of government for a region.

While in the past the Delegate had ultimate power and thus ultimate decision capability, that is no longer the case. The Delegate must work in some form of concensus with the "guardians" otherwise they can swap and overtake the Delegacy.

That doesn't answer the lingering questions about the Guardians role in the LoA scandal.

While I agree that the Guardians role is similar to that in TNP, I'd like to note that other than Elu's recent attempt to institute a similar system here, TNP has not codified our high endorsement members.

Besides, I tend to think that our unofficial guardians (lower-case g) like Great Bights Mum are of a much higher caliber (and character) than those in other regions; IE, its not the level of influence you have, its how you use it. ;)

What a nice thing to say, Khark. Thanks! :tb2:

In TNP, something akin to the Guardians has existed since the day FEC told me that once you reach a certain level, "You basically give your nation to the region." I know there has been talk of formalizing it, which would be the next logical step. I do worry though, that managing a group of high influence nations would be a bit like herding cats.

(Back on topic) I find each of the Pacifics has its own unique character and culture, and they all bring something to NS. If I had to pick a favorite, it would be the Pacific. I feel they have had more influence on TNP than has any other region.

Immature fools? If thats not the pot calling the kettle black I don't know what is.

The whole LOA affair was settled. Your not a regular in TWP so I don't expect you to know about it Khark. What does it matter anyway...that is not your region and not The Empire.

And I believe "WE" spoke about installing a similar system as a few regions have adopted. Which will be coming in a few weeks.

Yes, the proposal was mentioned to me and I refused to vote for it or otherwise support it.

Also, I never mentioned anything about The West Pacific being the Empire, so I'm not sure why you'd bring that up.
