I still haven't figured out how Elu calculated his new-fangled and so-called "instant runoff" system. He posted what he says were the numbers, but I haven't a clue as to how that supposedly works. We should not be using it if it can't be clearly explained, which it wasn't.
(Yes I know ir's a different voting thread, but on the other hand this thread is still open and Elu locked the other one.)
 
Basically, I think he took the top two candidates in terms of first tier votes (since everyone else only had one 1st-tier vote) they determined the winner by number of 2nd tier votes.

Or maybe he added their first and second tier votes together and used that to determine the winner.
 
Hmm...I assumed it was simply calculated by finding who garnered the most votes (irrespective of the order they were placed in), and who came second/third etc - in the amount of votes they received?
 
What I think he did was this.

He tallied up all the votes for the first position (everyone's 1) vote). He took the top two candidates from that "round." Then, everyone who had voted for someone other than those two candidates, but had voted 2) for one of the two candidates, he applied those votes.

Meaning, if someone voted -

1) Heft
2) Gross

Then their first vote counted, but not the second (or the others). If someone voted -

1) Santa8
2) Gross

Then, in the second round, their second vote counted. Least, that's how I got the numbers he got.
