I hereby announce my decision to stand for delegate. While I do not expect to win this contest, I shall still run to stimulate political discussion. Firstly, my plans for the region- I would be mainly focused on attempting to spring some new life into the region, and in particular get the many TNP nations in Nationstates to be more active in the region.
I also propose a system to be implemented on the RMB called "Spambusters". I have noticed that on many days, there is NOTHING but adspam on the RMB, some of it up to 10 hours old! I am astonished by this, and frankly, it is an embarrassment to our region. Rather than attempt to limit the spammers, as some have done in other regions, instead the plan would employ a small volunteer task force to try to stimulate conversation on the regional message board and push off any spam more than 4 hours old. That way, TNP would certainly be more inviting to its residents and encourage them to stay, and to take part in the forums as well. I personally will take part in this venture. (If such as program already exists, I have not seen it in action, and would do my best to spur it to more action and increase its membership)
In addition, I plan to run a recruitment drive to boost the ranks of the NPA. As far as I can tell, the NPA has been quite inactive on the Forums, and was certainly caught off guard by Matty's coup. I would appoint a military chief who would be active and vigilant in their defense of The North Pacific.
I also have a plan for TNP's education system. I would make the Head of the University a cabinet level position, or- if I do not have the power to do that- I would ask the RA to pass appropriate legislation. In addition, I would hope to actually get the University up and running, particularly the military school, but also the Nationstates history section. I have heard many a tale of the TNP University of Yesteryear, and I hope to restore those days.
As for my cabinet, I admit I am not familiar with everyone's strengths and weakness in TNP. As such, I invite all prospective Ministers to post in this thread, telling the people of TNP why they would make a good minister. I will be selecting a cabinet at least a week before elections, drawing from this pool of candidates. While I may not win the delegateship, the various prospective Ministers can at least make their strengths known to TNP- that way, whoever does wind up as Delegate can make an educated choice as to their cabinet.
Finally, I will be posting more stances and ideas as I think of them, so check back here for updates!
