Blunderbuss 2007

On second thought...I'm Mortimer N. Kervostein and I'll be running for Minister of Communications. My platform?

News Reporting
Real news is dead. Nothing much ever happens and when it does we already know about it at least a day before the papers report it. So, I propose TABLOIDS! TABLOIDS! TABLOIDS! Fabricated scandal, plots, schemes, and news all in good satirical fun. This will include forming a Green Ink Brigade (Those nasty people who write letters to the editor).

Spam
No amount of telling spammers to stop will make them do so. In order for them to comply with must be vigilant. We must take note of those whom violate the rule and be quick on our feet to capture screen shots and documentation so that moderation may actually do its job.

Banjection should be rigorously applied to violators after the first strike. No notification should be sent to the violator's region because they did not have the decency to notify us of their rule breaking.

Yes, I am crazy. I am crass, rude, profane, capricious, and smug, but I am also a thinker and a reformist. I will do all I can to bring activity to the region by creating a leisurely atmosphere.

I'm going to be straight with you. No matter the plan, none of you will become involved. It's been tried in the past by nearly every MoC. People don't want to write. They like to read, laugh, and comment. I can't increase activity by trying to recruit writers. I can increase activity by expanding readership. So here's my platform. Blame Me. That's right. I'll do the writing and editing and posting. If readers don't respond, then blame me. If no activity is created, blame me. You can oust one ineffectual person, but you can't fire an inactive readership.

It's not grandiose, but it's a shot to the arm which is what this ministry needs most of all.

Your full acceptance of responsibility for your desired Ministry does you credit, sir. Intriguing.

I fully support your take on spam and enforcement of regulations. The 15 ad line limit is clearly posted again in our WFE, and one warning should be sufficient. While our RMB will never be spam free, we should be able to impose certain rules that will hopefully promote conversation by the members of our region by minimizing the effect spam has on our message board.

I find that your willingness to accept full responsibility for quality and appeal of the TNP wire service to be very commendable and it shows a great level of integrity.

Now a question. Should the TNP wire service be separate from the government and not under a government ministry?

I think it should be part of the MoC, but open to those (if any) who wish to write something on their own time. Government control would assure that at least one article a week is published and not let ibe an idle paper.
