Raising Standards - Prime Minister announces first Cabinet reshuffle​
After complaints from various members of parliament regarding the failure of certain ministers to meet targets, Prime Minister Linkin Maximus took a firm step towards government shakeup earlier this week by unveiling his first cabinet reshuffle. The ministerial changes, regarded as a good move by the palace, did however contain some rather surprising appointments. One of which being the initial appointment of Lord Alphanesia, a character widely known as a trouble maker to other regions, as Deputy Prime Minister. It's widely rumoured that the King and other regional officials were concerned by this appointment, palace officials have also rumoured that the King sought an immediate meeting with his Prime Minister to discuss the issue, which some say had significant influence in the Prime Minister then later replacing Lord Alphanesia in favour of a more moderate choice. However, others claim the removal of LA was based upon his personal choice to persue other branches of government, rather than being forced out of the job. The truth remains to be seen. Citizens of Hampshire now eagerly await to see if these new cabinet changes will have their desired effects in increasing general work output.

Cultural Ministry endeavours set to skyrocket​
New plans to help sustain regional interest in cultural activities have been unveiled this week, leaving many citizens eagerly awaiting their completion. Part of the new endeavours include plans for the creation of a regional map and role play section. Citizens have been asked to choose their piece of land, and to put together descriptions of their nations in order to get the role play section firmly underway. Another of the proposals includes plans for the creation of a Hampshire NSwiki entry, as well as the creation of an external regional website to provide up to the minute information for citizens and newcomers alike. The Cultural ministry is set to be extremely busy over the next few weeks, the King has widely applauded their initiative, stating that an increase in culture was the key to sustaining forum and regional activity. We look forward to seeing the finished results.

Are Parliamentary reforms on the horizon?​
In a recent cabinet meeting, plans were put forward for the proposed reformation of the current parliamentary system. This comes as parliament faces tough criticism over the handling of its recent House of Commons appointments. In a statement from the Home Secretry, the King has been called into question over his allowance of non elected members to participate in the Commons with regard to recent legislation. Whilst the King has repeatedly attempted to justify his actions by stating that "in order to successfully build a flourishing legislative system, we simply must have a full House of Commons, it is imperative", this seem to have not quelled rumours of court cases to decide the legality of these appointments in accordance with the constitution. Will ministers allow the matter to drop? or will the King be faced with an undesired court case? Further action remains to be seen.

Regional Celebration - Hampshire reaches 200!​
Earlier this week the King issued a statement of regional celebration as Hampshire gained her 200th nation. This momentus landmark comes after over 4 weeks of intense recruitment by the immigration department. This rise in numbers is set to continue it would seem, as the numbers rose to 204 a mere few hours after reaching the much anticipated 200 mark. As a mark of recognition to all the hard work of the recruitment team, and everyone involved in the achiement, the palace announced the 2nd July as a national holiday.

Parliamentary Elections - Norsefire expected to triumph​
With general elections due on the 9th July, parliament has been slowly closing up shop, ready for a new term to begin. Campaigning season has been underway, with banners and party speeches out in force, however with no real opposition, Norsefire party candidate Linkin Maximus, Hampshires current Prime Minister, is widely expected to hold his leadership and take office once again. This mainly being due to the Social Democratic Party, the main opposition, having failed to elect a new leader in time to effectively participate in campaigning.

King Goes on Holiday​

The King of Hampshire, Tiberius Capurcium recently went on holiday to the United States of America. During this time, buisness of the region was left up to Linkin Maximus the current Prime Minister of Hampshire. This proved to be a slow time for Hampshire, with citizens predicting less than 30 posts having been made during the King's 10 day absence. The population sunk below 200 nations and has only now begun to stabalise itself, thanks to the work of the King, Prime Minister and Recruitment Ministry.

News From Norfolk - The Hampshire Colony​

The Colony of Norfolk has recently finished its elections for The Presidency. The winner came out to be none other than Lord Alphanesia from the Norsefire party. After elections extreme activity seemed to end in Norfolk and was worsened when President Alphanesia resigned due to Real Life reasons. The members of Norfolk are determined to have it live though. And recruitment has boosted the population quite a bit. The region is now being lead by former Vice President, Secretary of Ska.

Elections in Hampshire! Read All About it!​

The elections in Hampshire stirred up the populace today. As the polls opened Fioteria took an early lead with 2 votes to 0 for the rest of the candidates. Lord Alphanesia has 2 votes compared to Fioteria's 3. While Egregium and General ????? both have one vote apiece. Linkin Maximus, current Prime Minister has decided to not run for a third term for Prime Minister. With Lord Alphanesia not yet at the polls this very well could end up as a tie! The results will be notated in the next issue. Who is elected could mean alot as each cabinet has distinct differences which means different contributions they may have to the region.

Election fiasco engulfs region!​
When the November 2007 general elections took place, the people of Hampshire praised the event as a "return to stability", the event was to set to usher in a new age of the calmness the region desired so badly. The elections went well, with all four candidates taking to the podium to make their manifestos heard, upon finishing, the newly elected Members of Parliament took their seats, and the victor, Sir Albus, took his place behind the Prime Minister's desk in Wilmington Place. The following few days saw a new cabinet announced, policy proposals launched, and a calm finally settle amongst government. However sadly this wasnt to last, on the 26th November, barely a week after the new government had taken their places, the Prime Minister stood before His Majesty the King at Hampton Court Palace to inform him of his impending resignation from office due to RL commitments.
The acceptance of Sir Albus' resignation saw the ascension of Lord Alphanesia, the recently appointed Deputy, and election runner-up take office in the Prime Minister's residence. Lord Alphanesia set about making an immediate impression on government by implementing his own styles of authoritarian policy throughout Cabinet and Parliament.

Prime Minister Alphanesia faces pressure from the Palace​

The beginning of Lord Alphanesia's term saw huge breakthroughs in the government agenda, the outlook seeming bright for the new Prime Minister. However, after many openly fought power struggles between the Palace and government, and the dismissal of 3 ministers due to cabinet in-fighting, things rapidly turned sour for the Alphanesian governance.
These events lead to a dramatic dismissal of Parliament by the King, and a call for general elections to be set on Friday 7th December. This has been met by fierce opposition, with out crys that the King's dismissal without Prime Ministerial approval is unconstitutional and therefore illegal.
Will the region gain their much desired democratic balance? This remains to be seen.

Empire Prosperity Booms​
The past two weeks have seen an absolute unprecedented boom in Hampshirean regional population and activity levels, with the nation count smashing past the previous personal best of 217. As numbers continue to rise, the regional forum has also seen a huge serge in popularity as scores of international visitors and diplomats flock to witness the various high profile events taking place. Such high increases in prosperity have been associated with recent shake-ups within the Home Office, resulting in new recruitment policies and endeavours lead by the Head of Immigration Lord Goldfarb. Rumours from Palace officials indicate that key figures within the Immigration Department are set to receive substantial rewards for their recent efforts.

House of Lords Re-Opened​
Due to a decline in regional numbers and resources, earlier this year saw the closure of the upper chamber in order to reduce parliament pressure. This move, whilst a last resort, was seen as a necessary measure in order to continue effective passage of key legislation. However, with an increase in regional prosperity and the retirement of key officials from government, a recent executive order from the Palace saw the much anticipated re-opening of the House of Lords, resulting in a full parliament for the first time in months.
With the recent passage of the Nobility Act, the King took this opportunity to knight new peers of the Realm. In a speech from the throne His Majesty stated....

Festive Cheer Hits Region!​
After the recent upheaval and turmoil faced by the people of Hampshire, King Tiberius took an opportunity to introduce some festive spirit to the region by installing a new forum skin and button selection. The new additions took the form of snowflake and Christmas red designs. Many people have welcomed the changes adding that "it gives the place a much warmer feel". His Majesty is reported as stating that he "hopes the people of Hampshire will be filled with festive cheer during events which, at times, may be difficult for us all". Hampshire thanks His Majesty for his consideration.

Hampshirean festivities begin​

Parliament debate key legislation​
Prior to its recent dismissal, the houses of parliament have seen the debate of various key legislation which, if passed, shall see dramatic changes within government and regional management. The most controversial of these has been the "Executive Stability Act" which if passed shall see the ability for the Prime Minister to make legally binding executive orders a thing of the past. Opponents argue that this act shall only seek to further empower the Monarchy, leaving the elected body even weaker, however supporters of the act argue that after several serious breaches of trust with regard to executive orders the office of the Prime Minister isnt suitable to hold such power and should instead be reverted back to parliament.
Other key acts currently under discussion within parliament include the "Realm Consulate Act" which hopes to dramatically improve Empire management by introducing embassy style consulates for each of Hampshire's colonies. Its rumoured that this act is heavily supported by the crown as empire stability becomes more important than ever to the Monarchy.

Prime Minister Elections End​

With the end of the controversial Elections on Monday, the popular figure Lord Goldfarb was elected to the Office of Prime Minister, and invited to form a government by the Current Monarch, the beloved Tiberius Capurcium. The End results were as followed:

Elections Contested, Lord Alphanesia Leaves​

After contesting the elections claiming “Europeians Voted” and then going on a spamming rampage against the beloved King and Prime Minister, and going so far as to call for the impeachment of Goldfarb, Lord Alphanesia, the most controversial figure in Hampshire's history, finally renounced his citizenship. His mask was quickly changed to resident by the king after the post. The action originally split the region, however most of the controversy seems to have calmed down. Lord Alphanesia had re-applied for citizenship, however it has was denied by Tiberius for the sake of regional stability.

Norfolk Attacked​

In tragic news this week, the forums and government of the good colony of Norfolk were viciously attacked and destroyed by the traitor Johnson, who has since been tried. The King and the Royal Family have extended their deepest condolences. Norfolk is rebuilding since the incident, and Royals are now going to be more careful with the Leaders of Colonies to prevent a similar situation from Happening.

The Government is about to take off for its Christmas vacation, to be served the 19th through Jan 2nd. During this time, Hampshire will celebrate its first Birthday, on the 27th of December. The Cultural Ministry is already planning for the Festivities.

Hampshire has increased it's population Dramatically. The population is currently over 360 nations, and Palace Advisors working with the Prime Minister estimate that the Region will get over 500 nations by the end of next Sunday.

Palace fears for King's Health​

In a recent statement by Hampton Court Palace, it was announced that the aging King, now in his late 70's, had suffered a serious stroke and had been rushed to hospital during the early hours of friday morning. As the citizens of Hampshire were left fearing for the worst, the Hampshirean government, lead by Prime Minister Goldfarb, summoned an emergency meeting of the King's Privy Council to discuss the, what seems to be, immienent hand over of Sovereign power to Regent Fioteria. After what seemed to be a very long 48 hours, it was announced by medical staff at the Royal Norfolkian hospital that the King seemed to be on the road to recovery and had recently regained conciousness, however would never be able to lead the active life he once did. It is widely rumoured that the King has held private talks with his Regent and the Crown Prince to discuss the handing over of executive power away from the King to those who now seem more capable of the job, leaving the King as a mere ceremonial figure. However the factual basis behind such rumours remains to be seen.

Business District Booms! Currency on the Horizon?​
In preparation for the impending currency introduction, the business district of Hampshire has recently seen an almost 200% surge in activity, with new businesses ranging from shops to theatres to showrooms being opened. Consumers appear to be delighted with the new choice in activities to indulge in, with some businesses reporting unprecendent rises in sales.

Many have concluded that the rise in business openings has been due to the much anticipated currency introduction, which Palace officials have rumoured to be taking place near the end of the month. The introduction of currency shall mean that business owners automatically have an advantage over those unemployed. Can we see the beginnings of a consumer state? Of big business and corporatism? To many, it would certainly appear so. However, it is still unclear to many just how the new currency shall operate, and more importantly, how feasible such a system will be to maintain and function, though rumour has it that the reason for the continued delay in its official release has been due to rigious planning and meetings by Palace and Government officials to discuss exactly how currency operation will commence, heres hoping the planning will be enough to avoid disaster!

Hampshire becomes largest Monarcy in NS!​
With a population now well on its way to reaching an astronomical 500 nations, a statement from the Palace press office was delighted to announce that Hampshire has now taken its place as NationStates largest constitutional monarchy, almost doubling its closest rivals. Hampshire also currently holds the position as NationStates 4th largest player-created region, a title which many citizens are immensely proud to call ours. The Palace expressed their sincere and everlasting thanks to the the complete dedication shown by the Prime Minister and his recruitment team, with several awards expected to be announced at this months Honours ceremony.

One problem however, which has so far remained just out of reach by the region, has been the gaining of the elusive "very high" regional power status. It has been calculated by the Home Office that an endorsement rate of 60% and above is required in order to achieve the status, however Hampshire's current UN Delegate Fioteria, having just over 100 endorsements, currently only carries a 55% endorsement rating, something which the Recruitment team are most keen to improve upon.

House of Lords Expansion​
Earlier this week witnessed for the first time in Hampshire's history, the membership to the House of Lords increase from 5 seats to 7, as new peers were announced. In a speech from the Palace, the King announced that the reason behind the increase in seat numbers was to reflect the dramatic increase in population.

However, some were quick to argue that an increase in the "non-elected" branch of government would surely place even further strain on those in the House of Commons whos House, arguably, should be larger if not the same in size, due to the fact that they were the true spirit of democracy. This issue was quickly dealt with as preparations were made by the Regent to elect 2 new members to the House of Commons, thus also bringing its total to 7 members. With at least 3 new bills being presented and discussed before Parliament, many have proclaimed the new House numbers a success, lets hope it continues!

Prime Minister Elections​
This past month Hampshire held an election for Prime Minister. Sunny-Side-Up, Sketchy Alphanesia and Ramanat decided to run. After weeks of campaigning the polls finally opened and citizens flocked to get their input on how Hampshire is run. Ramanat dropped out of the race shortly after the polls opened. The polls were open about two days. At the end of the day it was a tie. Both candidates had 13 votes each. To break the tie the King would have to choose the winner. After a period of thought King Fioteria announced that Sunny-Side-Up was the winner. Sunny thanked the citizens and went right to work by putting together a cabinet to help him lead. The people of Hampshire wish the new Prime Minister luck and are confident of Sunny's abilities.

House of Commons​

The next big election will determine the members of the House of Commons. King Fioteria asked for anyone that would like to run to step forward. Of everyone asked, nine people stepped forward. The polls opened February 9th and closed February 12th. The winners are:

Population Boom​

Due to some unceasing recruiting by our former Prime Minister Goldfarb of Gloucestershire we have taking sole possession of 9th place overall in Nation States. We are 4th place out of user created regions. On February 11th the official number of nations in Hampshire reached 600 and that number continues to grow. The citizens of Hampshire wish to thank Goldfarb for his hard work making Hampshire a better place.

New King of Hampshire​
​

Hampshire lost a great king but gained a king with potential. King Tiberius stepped down as king because of his failing health. Replacing King Tiberius is King Fioteria who has served Hampshire as the U.N. Delegate, Prime Minister, Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign Minister, Chancellor of the Realm and Deputy Defence Minister. The people of Hampshire are excited to see what King Fioteria is going to bring to Hampshire.

After recent rumors of a 'Real Life Virus' infecting various Embassies hosted within Hampshire, Rose Alphanesia, the Deputy Foreign Minister bravely dared the various Embassies where no activity was noted. After finding several bodies in a few Embassies the Deputy Minister ordered all Embassies showing no sign of life to be destroyed as swiftly as possible. Vaccines for the deadly virus have been handed out to all Citizens and the various uninfected Embassies.

Economy Council Meets to discuss the Economy​

As one of his first actions in office Prime Minister Sunny side up of the House of Seraph appointed his new Economy Council. Rapidly getting to work the Economy Council has already submitted a Economy Bill to Parliament to jump start Hampshire's currently non-existent Economy.

Prime Minister Elections​
Once again Prime Minister elections were held. King Fioteria called emergency elections due to the fighting taking place on the forums. Three citizens stepped forward to run from Prime Minister. G300, Dark Storm and Ramanat made an agreement beforehand to keep campaigning clean. Ramanat dropped out of the race about a week before polls opened. The candidates themselves ran clean campaigns. The final vote tally was 18 to 3 in favor of G3000. He shortly made his acceptance speech. He announced his cabinet and almost everyone accepted their offered positions. The one exception being Livenda. He asked to be Foreign Minister but turned it down due to other responsibilities in Hampshire. The people of Hampshire wish G300 and his cabinet luck in the coming term.


Parliament Elections​

Along with the Prime Minister elections Parliamentary elections were also held. Citizens who were running included Ibramistan, Livenda, Archon of Erir, Lotta-Fagina, Rose Alphanesia, Montgomery Quicksilver, Seanzyland, Splifttown, Ouradistan and Blaenau. When the polls closed the winners were announced. Rose, Montgomery Quicksilver, Lotta-Fagina, Splifttown, Archon, Livenda and Blaenau.

Archon of Erir announced he had caught a case of the “real life virus” and said he would be gone for an indefinite amount of time to overcome this obstacle. By elections were announced to fill Archon's vacant seat. Four citizens announced they would be running. Gustavus Adolphus Rex, Adriaa, Ouradistan and Deus Deusia X started campaigning. At the time of writing this GAR is ahead in the polls followed by Deus Deusia X then by Ouradistan and finally Adriaa.


Hampshire Law Library Opens​
​

There was a new construction project in the capitol city of Hampshire. People wandered and stared as the gigantic building was erected. When it was finally finished the Lord Chancellor announced that the mysterious building is the new Hampshire Law Library. This massive building houses all the rulings that have been passed down in Hampshire courts and common law that comes from these rulings. The people of Hampshire would like to thank Anumia for taking time to create this new part of Hampshire.


Population Decrease​

February brought Hampshire their highest population in it's history. March has brought quite the opposite. The population in Hampshire dropped to under 450 nations. Hampshire lost over 150 nations in less than month. The “real live virus” is the main culprit for the population drop. Doctors say that the virus has been contained and everyone should be safe from it for now. This virus originated when “reality” interfered with the Nation States world. Other large nations were also hit with the virus. Although they didn't suffer as much as Hampshire has.


Economy Council Discusses Possible Currency​
​

The economy council convened to discuss the upcoming economy for Hampshire. The main issues that are being discussed are what the currency will be, what will back the currency, how to manage inflation, who would run the Hampshire Reserve and whether it would be up to the King or Prime Minister to appoint the head of the reserve.

Shiny Objects​
The economy department issued the first paychecks in Hampshire history earlier this month. Citizens rushed to open bank accounts so they could get paid. Admins were flooded with requests and did the best they could. After all was said and done everyone that wanted to participate in the economy got paid. The next step is to start spending the money. With a number of business started when the money was handed out there shouldn't be a shortage of places to spend it.

Weddings Galore​

Love has reached epidemic proportions in Hampshire. King Fioteria married Princess Consort Griffin. Griffin is the Kaiserin of The New Inquisition. Soon after, Sydriel Delasy and Pink Lotus were married. Not to be left behind, DaPaKa announced his engagement to Aessiris. Although they are engaged they say they aren't getting married anytime soon. Solimaria and Lydia have announced their engagement.


Alliances Discussed​

A controversial subject came up recently. Hampshire for the longest time has been a loner region having no real alliances. King Fioteria has expressed interest in developing alliances to help strengthen Hampshire. Some citizens have voiced concerns of how much of regional sovereignty we would have to give up. Though a few bills have been sent to parliament none have as yet passed. Foreign Minister Putter Mayhem has submitted two bills with one bill requiring military assistance and the other with voluntary military assistance. King Fioteria has submitted an alliance with The New Inquisition. This bill is currently in vote in the House of Lords.

First Female Prime Minister​
Hampshire made history this month by electing it's first female Prime Minister. Rose Alphanesia won in a landslide. She ran against Lord Omega Dark Storm, Solimaria and Ramanat. She quickly got to work and named her cabinet.

New Parliament​

Along with the new Prime Minister Hampshire elected a new House of Commons. A total of 15 people ran but only 7 could win.

Norsefire Returns​

In a shocking turn of events the Norsefire party is rejuvenated by Linkin Maximus and Solimaria. Reactions from the citizens were all over the board. There were attacks on it because of the movie “V for Vendetta”. Others were worried because the criminal Lord Alphanesia was part of Norsefire and ran under it for Prime Minister and other government positions. After heated discussion every concern was resolved and the citizens went home to put away their pitch forks and torches.


Wexford Declares Independence​
​

Ramanat the Duke of Wexford made an announcement that shocked all of Hampshire. After weeks of trying to make colonies a priority in Hampshire he declared Wexford's independence from Hampshire. He felt that Hampshire should be focusing on colonies in spite of the population drop in Hampshire. There is currently a court case being brought against Ramanat for treason. Ramanat's position in the House of Lords and his princedom were revoked and given to Solimaria.


Goldfarb and UnitedAnarchist Wed​

Crown Prince Goldfarb and UnitedAnarchist got married in Nova Imperium. This was the second wedding held in Nova Imperium of Hampshire citizens in 2 months.

Recently Rose Alphanesia sent in her resignation as Prime Minister due to real life concerns. Hampshire wishes her the best with recovering from the CTE virus and pray that her bright and shining face returns to us soon. In an emergency election, Gustavus Adolphus Rex stole the show with his intimidating Indiana Jones personnification and almighty T-Rex, roaring at people in hopes of swaying votes. Either that, or he had some really good ideas for office. We can probably say both.

Books, movies, music, poetry, you name it! We've got it all! Recently culture and media has taken over the scene on our forums. Its been so robust, that even parliament took its time off in the library, movie theaters, and concerts. The merrymaking continues but some have gone back to work, as recruitment has become a priority once again, but the festivities are far from over as authors and musicians continue to entertain. It certainly is a good time to be Hampshirean, we're a feel good bunch of folks!

His Majesty recently has reached a pair of achievements that not many members of Nationstates get to enjoy. In the month of June, Fioteria celebrated his first anniversary of being WA Delegate. Also, in July, he passed the great Tiberius Capurcium, also known as SenatorTC in most regions, for longest reign of a monarch in Hampshire and will soon reach 6 months with his reign as King. Hampshire wishes him a long and prosperous reign.
