Grading Information

Information on Grading

Grading is calculated in each course out of a 100 point scale, with 100 being the highest grade and 0 being the lowest. At the conclusion of each course, one must have a score of at least 60 to pass the course and earn the course's credits. Your grades from all courses at the end of a semester are averaged into one final semester grade (still out of the 100 point scale). Your GPA (grade point average) at any time is the total average of all your final semester grades converted into the 4.0 scale. We will follow the conversion of the 100 point scale to 4.0 GPA as used at Cascadia Community College.

At the time one receives their certification, they may be granted a title of honor if the achieve a certain level GPA. The honor of "summa cum laude" is granted to those who achieve a 3.7 or greater GPA. The honor of "magna cum laude" is granted to those who achieve a 3.0 or greater GPA. The honor of "cum laude" is granted to those who achieve a 2.5 or greater GPA.

One must have at least a 1.9 GPA to pursue a DoNS degree. Students are reminded that they may take extra courses to raise their GPA if necessary.

All courses taken, whether in a academic program or not, count towards a student's GPA. If the student would rather not have a particular course count towards their GPA, they may drop the course 48 hours before the semester and notify the Chancellor they wish not to have that grade in their GPA.

Also credits earned outside an academic program will count for the student if an academic program is taken in the future.
