Gaspo for MoIIA and SC

Gaspo

TNPer
I've never been one for speeches, so I'll keep this short and to the point. My comments regarding the Security Council are towards the end of the post; for now, I will be discussing the Ministry of Immigration and Internal Affairs.

I am not one for giant campaign speeches. I am not one for grandstanding. All I will say is this; I have the experience, the technical skill, and the qualifications to serve as Minister of Immigration and Internal Affairs. Those of you who know me know that I am trustworthy to the last. I have served this fine region honorably in the past, and would like the opportunity to do so again. Throughout my career in Nationstates, I have specialized in precisely the types of tasks required of the Minister as pertains to Regional Assembly screening. I have amassed substantial resources for conducting background checks, and will be using all of these resources and tricks of the trade, in close conjunction with the Administrators, to ensure that Regional Assembly membership is granted or denied according to pre-existing policies, and that individual decisions are based on as much information as can possibly be collected in a timely fashion. The current RA oath must be upheld, and I will strive to do so, as well as to follow all laws regarding UN status, proxy reporting, and all other matters pertaining to Regional Assembly eligibility.

As for my positions on matters of importance regarding the Ministry, I'll be blunt.

I do not support recruiting outside of our own region; we have over 4500 nations here inside our own borders, and to suggest that we must look elsewhere for more people to join our community is simply ludicrous. Along these lines, I emphatically support Dalimbar's internal recruitment team, and will lend the full support of the Ministry of Immigration and Internal Affairs to that work.

With regard to punctual processing of RA applications, I can only say that I'm a huge fan of subscribing to threads, and have this bad habit of carrying everything I need to do anything I do in NS around with me at all times, on a flash drive. I don't think it'll be an issue ;)

The Minister of Immigration and Internal Affairs has access to the IP addresses of all members who apply to the Regional Assembly. I make no effort to hide this fact; IP addresses are highly confidential personal information which should not be publically released. With regard to that, I will freely admit that I have accummulated quite a collection of IP records over my career. I will also publically swear that, should I for any reason violate the privacy of a user by revealing their IP address in a situation where such a disclosure of information is not warranted, I will immediately resign from my post. I regard such information as highly personal, and as several members of this region can attest, have repeatedly stated that, should any of the information that I have now, or ever come into possession of, be compromised, I would leave the game at once. That promise holds true indefinately.

Returning once again to the issue of experience and technical knowledge You will find a sampling of my security-related credentials at the bottom of this post, in a format resembling a resume. These qualifications are important for both the position of MoIIA, and for the position of Security Councillor. I have served on the Security Council in the past, and wish to serve there again. The most important qualifications for a Councillor, I believe, are threefold: availability, experience, and trustworthiness. As I have already addressed the latter two, I will touch briefly on the first. Several members of this region have my cell phone number. That cell phone also checks a private email account, which a couple people here have access to. That phone does not leave my side. Ever. It's that simple. I have no qualms about releasing that number to the rest of the SC should I be elected. I don't think you can get any more available than that.

Well, that wasn't as short as I thought it would be, but I hope it wasn't too horrible to read. As promised, here's a fairly complete resume of my time in NS. I would be more than happy to answer any questions at this time.

Excellent to actually see a speech! :P

Along these lines, I emphatically support Dalimbar's internal recruitment team, and will lend the full support of the Ministry of Immigration and Internal Affairs to that work.

So apart from speedy masking, what exactly do you intend to do as MoIIA?
I intend to use my myriad talents and large amount of experience in the field to ensure that all applications are processed properly and efficiently. I intend to work closely with Dalimbar's recruitment team to ensure that we make the best use of the resources already within our fine region.

To sum it all up, as I said in my initial post, I intend to do my job.

Will you be bringing anything new to the table, Deputy Minister?
Often the allure of newness distracts us from reinforcing the fundamentals upon which our community is built. Long experience doing this type of work, and a fundamental understanding of the nuts and bolts of Internal Affairs is something that is not new, but rather, comes from a long period of practice and learning.

If I must bring something "new" to the table, I would direct your attention to the current Regional Assembly application thread. In particular, from this point through the end of the thread. As you see there, I bring a never-before-seen level of responsiveness and speed to the processing of Regional Assembly applications. In my time in TNP, stretching back nearly 18 months now, I have yet to witness anything approaching that level of responsiveness with regard to application processing. So in a way, that's something very new. My opponent promises vast improvement, but only guarantees weekly processing of applications. Unfortunately, the rest of the world moves in hours, not days and weeks.

1) For over two years
This has been my specialty.
This is what I do

From Nasi to now
NPO to TNP
This is what I do

2) You must be trippin'
Neither is the better one
Different is fun.

This is going around to all candidates, so make it good :P

What is your favorite colour, how does that colour make you feel, and what does this colour represent to you, with RL examples please?

Can't argue with that. I'd much prefer an efficient running of the current system than a revamp which will probably lead to nothing.

I'm still undecided on my vote, what can you say to convince me to vote for you: in 10 words or less.

@Dalimbar: My favorite color would probably be blue. Some dark, rich shade of blue. Blue is a color which evokes feelings of honor and pride. Not sure why, but yeah. As for RL examples, I suppose one might shed some light on why blue is an important color to me. Blue is a prominent element of the Eagle Scout medal, a medal which I wear with pride. 5 years of hard work earned me that award, and I am proud of my accomplishment in that regard.

@Vitrionia: I am as you see me, no more, no less.

@Haor: I'm okay with competition and heated debate in an election, so long as it stays in-character. When things get personal, I draw the line, and work very hard not to cross that line myself. As far as active mudslinging, I'm not a fan. However, I'm even less of a fan of candidates who only present what they think the voting public wants to see, rather than a complete picture of who they are, what they stand for, and all that that entails. I do not consider casting a negative light on another candidate's policies or behavior within the campaign to be unacceptable; however, if one candidate were to directly attack the other in an out-of-character sense, such a situation has gone beyond the tension of election season. At that point, the aggressor will have lost perspective, and forgotten that, at the end of the day, all of this is a game. It's supposed to be fun. It's not supposed to be all rainbows and unicorns, but it's not supposed to be hateful on an OOC personal level. I learned the hard way that the line between IC and OOC, in-game and real-life, is very thin, and deserves the utmost respect and consideration.

Gaspo;

It is my belief that the Speaker of the Regional Assembly and The MoIIA should work hand in hand in discussing and proposing ideas for how to deal with in-house security. I'm interested to hear your ideas on how we can address this matter.

Good luck in elections!

The Duchess

Several members of this region have my cell phone number.

Shut up. Can I drunk dial you? :P
Perhaps later, I don't know you well enough yet.

As to your inquiry regarding my thoughts on working closely with the Speaker on Internal Affairs, I agree to an extent that more needs to be done to ensure the security of the RA. However, if the MoIIA does his or her job well, there shouldn't ever be a reason for the Speaker to get involved in security, because nothing will get by. I don't pretend to be perfect, but with a bit of luck, there hopefully won't be much of a need for increased cooperation, because the bad apples won't get through the door.
