Matt For MoEA

This term I would like to take a step up from Deputy Minister of External Affairs to Minister for External Affairs. Foreign Affairs is where I am most experienced in NationStates, I really enjoy visiting other regions and seeing how they run and meeting new people so I would really like to be Minister for External Affairs.

As Deputy this term, I have helped Haor Chall by doing an audit of all consulates/embassies, checking up on updates being posted in our embassies/consulates in other regions, contributed to the regional updates and served as a member of the Diplomatic Corps.

I have great experience in Foreign Affairs and have been an ambassador for numerous regions I founded, as well as an Ambassador for The East Pacific and The Pacific. Finally for two terms, I was Minister for Foreign Affairs in Lazarus where I managed to create a fully functioning Ambassadorial role with every region done, create a new, professional looking update, produce fairly regular updates (Lazarus is a smaller region), create alliances with some new regions included The Rejected Realms, open new Consulates/Embassies with regions, close inactive Consulates/Embassies and serve as an Ambassador to about three different regions.

If elected I would seek to do the following things in The North Pacific:
  • Produce regular updates
  • Make sure every region receives these updates
  • Perform an audit of all our embassies/consulates
  • Try and recruit more ambassadors
  • Carry on any alliances negotiations
So all in all there would be few sweeping changes if I were to be elected, instead I would try and carry on the good work of Haor Chall and make a few changes that I believe will improve the department.

Of course, I welcome any questions that I'm sure you have.

Do you think TNP should enter military alliances with smaller user-created regions, or should we only ally ourselves with other feeders and the larger user-created regions?

Do you think that TNP has an obligation to spread (though not force) its conceptions and ideals of democracy to the greater NS public?

I much prefer making alliances with other powerful regions, since they have a lot more to offer us in terms of activity, influence, military strength and so on. Smaller user-created regions are less reliable and powerful, so although I still want to maintain relations with them, especially the most powerful of them, for example The New Meritocracy or Taijitu, I want to concentrate more on the Feeders. I intend to strengthen all our ties with them and since I have built up good relations with a number of these regions so I'm sure that will help me.

Interesting question, I don't believe we do, I know some people say we should be more forceful abroad and I agree to an extent. But this is a game and people should play how they want and people can choose what region they want to be a part of and I don't think we should try and influence how people want to play. If they want a democracy they are more than welcome here.

Considering the dramatic changes between realist and idealist policies the MinEA has seen since I've been in TNP, what sort of policy would you hope to follow?

Does TNP, as the premier feeder, have a larger part to play on the world scene than say Gatesville? If so, what would your policies be towards this aim.

Do you believe that feeder unity is an important goal? Would you strive to achieve that during your term?

Finally, do you consider yourself a feederite?

Thanks in advance.

Realist, I don't think our policy's need dramatic changing and neither does the structure of the Department. I would follow a policy of efficiency if terms of our Consulates/Embassies and our updates. I would also try and improve our relations with the other Feeders and to a lesser extent other user-created regions.

I believe so, with few exceptions, obviously Gatesville one the few, user-created regions come and go but Feeders have (nearly) always been powerful and I believe that when the game finally dies the Feeders will be amongst the last regions left.

My policies would be friendly with other regions, specifically Feeders but not excluding other regions but I would also be strong, I wouldn't allow The North Pacific to be pushed into anything by another region and I would take a stand against any region trying to use The North Pacific's resources and influence for its own gain.

Do you believe that feeder unity is an important goal? Would you strive to achieve that during your term?

I do believe Feeder unity is important, all Feeders should work together. In my term I would try and improve relations with the Feeders as much as I possibly could.

Finally, do you consider yourself a feederite?

Yes.

Matt for Security Council

Basically I have been active in the Security Council this term participating in discussions about regional security and I have voted in every vote the SC has made, helping quorum be acheived quickly and allowing the NPA to act swiftly.

If re-elected I would continue to do this.

Questions?

In answer to an earlier question.

This is going around to all candidates, so make it good :P

What is your favorite colour, how does that colour make you feel, and what does this colour represent to you, with RL examples please?

Purple, it represents importance, richness and depth to me and makes me feel handsome when I wear, for example a purple polo shirt. Also when I was a kid I had a 'special stone', which was a beautiful purple stone I found in a park one day, damn I miss that thing. ;)

Whats your opinion on the current NPO situation? How would you respond as MoEA?
I think a full investigation needs to be carried out until we get to the facts of the matter. Until then I would apologise to The Pacific for the delay and then when the investigation is finished, take it from there.
