Monte Ozarka for Minister of Communications

Hello there! I am Monte Ozarka. You may remember me from such classics as "Ohmigod-it's-the-ADN-BURN-HER", "...that's a dumbass bill", and "modus operandi? what?" I approach you today with the announcement that I am seeking your vote for the position of Minister of Communications.

Now, why should you vote for someone who has clearly demonstrated an overuse of capital letters in an attempt to sound "wit' it"? Allow me to present...

MO's platform and ideas and stuff
  • Spam busting: For large portions of the day, various articles of spam stay on the RMB for 8 hours or more...and is bumped off only by more spam. This makes me sad. Therefore, I will import the CommRanger idea from our neighbors to the west and organize the TNP Purveyors of Fun (formal name pending). Its volunteers will seek to boost activity on the RMB by encouraging discussion regarding various topics that include UN proposals, daily issues, governmental issues, real-life news, and a bevy of forum games. They will also serve as an information booth for TNP residents and a watchdog group for illicit spammers. Under my leadership, the MoC will try to forge closer ties with the Delegate in spam-busting activities.
  • Regional News: Sure, we all pretty much know what's going on, but it's nice to have a bit of a recap. Plus, a regional news service could also include roleplay news, advertisements, public service announcements, and whatever other drivel or humorous remarks our citizenry wish to make.
  • TNP Wire: It's been over a year since the last entry. An easily accessible blog is a resource that should be utilized. Therefore, if elected, I shall kick-start the blog again. News, updates, commentary, and general silliness will be permitted. I personally think it would be great to get other regions (especially the other feeders) involved, too. After all, it has been a while since NS had a decent news service. Wouldn't it be great if we could be at the forefront?
  • International News: I plan on working closer with the MoEA in collecting and understanding international affairs. A large part of the fun of NS is the differences and interactions between regions. I hope to bring the rest of the NS-verse closer to home for our citizenry.
Other more ambitious goals include a program for telegramming newbies to the region with a short NS tutorial and an intro about our region, as well as an exchange/vacation program with other regions. Find other regions, exchange members, visit their homes and ways of doing things, and simply become more aware of our international surroundings. These things are perhaps pipe dreams, but it would be nice to consider.

Oh, and here's why MO is great:

Personal "Qualifications"
  • Leadership Experience: Previously, I have been Minister of Defense (TNP), Foreign Minister (TWP), as well as various Deputy and Secretary positions and generalships in the ADN, TWP, and NP. I believe that I have served ably in most. Although these past positions are pretty much ancient history as far as NS goes, I believe that I possess the leadership required to recruit and encourage members.
  • Administration: I'm weird. I like paper-pushing. Bureaucracy does not scare me. I can administrate and organize with the best of them.
  • Openness to new ideas: I'll never turn a good idea down. Please send me any suggestions, comments, and complaints, and I'll be sure to give it good consideration. :)
Alright, it's 2am. I'm not sure what I just wrote, and I'm sure that I'll regret it in the morning. I swear, I'm not really this incoherent, narcissistic, or loopy typically.

In the meantime, are there any questions or comments I can field? Complaints will be promptly incineratedare also welcome.

Good speech, I have but one question.

Would this be in partnership with the Regional Task Force?

Spam busting: For large portions of the day, various articles of spam stay on the RMB for 8 hours or more...and is bumped off only by more spam. This makes me sad. Definitely. In the next term, if the Regional Task Force is still underway, I'd like to confer with its members and get their input on some of my ideas, as well as whatever ideas they may have. I hope that the RTF would serve as a launching point for some of these ideas.

Furthermore, I'd like to expand MoC participation, especially in spam-busting and RMB participation officially to non-forum users. I see many active RMB posters who help us everyday in fighting spam, and I think it would be good to recognize their efforts.

Regarding the regional task force: It is my intention to bring forward a motion in the Regional Assembly to continue the task force project through the next term.

I haven't spoken to Dali, bar yet on that, but my desire is tha the task force continue as long as need be to determine what new methods, procedures, or process might benefit TNP on a long term basis, and should be made a permanent part of the region.

Candidate, what is your response to the Vancouver Canucks beating the Dallas Stars tonight and thus advancing to the second round? Also, do you think I could make a good sports-commentator on IRC? :P

My response: :(

I blame it on the bad karma my physics midterm was circulating through me.

And also, your sports commentary sucks. :P Exclamations do not good commentary make. :P

If you had to choose just one idea from your campaign to succeed, which would it be?
The "TNP Purveyors of Fun". Although I value being able to keep the region up-to-date with our virtual world, it is more vital to our region and government to maintain an active and thriving RMB so that we may bring more newbies into the fold and help disperse the notion that feeder governments are but a handful of oligarchs ruling over the apathetic masses. Democracy requires participation, and it requires being excited to be part of the system. Otherwise, whatever intestine problems we have in NS will only fester, rather than heal.
