Good morning, everyone, (or good afternoon/evening depending on where you are)

I've been a member of NationStates and The North Pacific since March 28.

Everyday I come on this forum and try and work out where to start and how I can contribute, by reading all the entries that are posted

So far, I am bemused

Can someone give me a helping hand so that I can start giving back to the region that has already given so much!?

Hey there! Welcome to TNP!

Well, the best way to start is to figure out what you're interested in. As far as NS in general goes, there's...roleplay, regional governance, invading/defending, UN issues, and rising as high as you can on the daily regional rankings.

Larger, more established regions (like ours :D) have off-site forums (this thing that we're looking at) that offer a bit more--a far more advanced level of regional governance (bureaucracy, foreign affairs, defending, intelligence, news & communications, legislative activities, etc.) and more out-of-character fun (random silly games, blogs, roleplay, etc.).

Really, my best advice is to poke around. Check out the Out of Character forums, meet the crazy people there, and then wander into the governmental forums. I'm afraid that some forums are hidden unless you're an RA member or part of a particular Ministry, but there's generally a good amount of activity somewhere. If you wish to dive into TNP politics and bureaucracy, there's the Regional Assembly, and from there, you're free to join the North Pacific Army, the Diplomatic Corps, the MiniCommers, and run for various offices as well.

So, poke around and feel free to ask any of us some questions. It's a big scary forum (:P), but it's manageable.
 
I'm pretty sure that I took the RA oath when I first joined the forum but I am yet to get any feedback on this

Ah, good. It might take the MoIIA a few days to get around to it--they're typically pretty busy people in real life. But don't worry. (And I'll kick them for you sometime. ;))
