I recently saw this message from the Cybernations admin. Could it be for all their money making-war featuring-game it will meet an end before nationstates?
Since the Cyber Nations forums have been disabled to give everyone a break from things due to the misbehavior of numerous individuals getting out of control recently I wanted to come here and give everyone an update on the status of the game. Along with the misbehavior in the forums over the past week Cyber Nations was also the victim of numerous denial of service attacks in an attempt to bring the sever down by increasing bandwidth beyond capacity. I worked for much of the night on 3/30 and felt confident that I had successfully stopped the attacks against the game. This morning, however, I received a report that something more serious had happened, that the source code for the game had been stolen. I have a good idea when and how this happened based on the date stamp of the stolen files and I do believe that the game databases have not been tampered with but since I cannot be certain of this at this time I have shut down the game to ensure the security of the site.
All of this has occurred during a time that was suppose to be the most joyous and wonderful time for my family. My wife gave birth to a beautiful baby girl, Emily Michelle, on Thursday 3/29/2007. She is our firstborn daughter and we have been anxiously awaiting her arrival for quite some time. Unfortunately I have been unable to enjoy her arrival because of recent attacks against the game and other distractions surrounding it. I ask for everyone’s patience and kind thoughts as I work to deal with the threats against the game and enjoy the arrival of our daughter.
Sincerely,
Kevin (admin)
PS - I have received a wealth of warm wishes about all of this from many members of the community since putting this message up just a short time ago. My wife and I are going through a lot of emotions about everything that is happening in our lives right now (our new baby as well as the attacks against Cyber Nations) and your words of encouragement are very much appreciated. Thank you.
