Consulate of Uroca

Thank you, Emperor Matthuis. We are very pleased to be granted this consulate.

As I said in my previous post, an embassy has been established for TNP on our forum and can be found HERE. I understand that an overhaul of the FR department is currently being conducted, so ther eis no rush - I just wanted to go ahead and get it set up!

At this time I am also going to post our most recent news update:

Thank yous and welcome from the *founder*, Imperfectia on the occasion of the opening of our new forum:
It is an amazing feeling to see the final stages of completion for a project that started as a simple idea about a month and a half ago. I never would have thought that this day would be a reality, especially this soon, two months ago. A mere month-and-a-half ago, I proposed the idea of the merger to our former regions, Aberdeen and Charis, with only a prayer that it would be welcomed by many. To my delight and surprise, there was overwhelming support from both regions, and many contributed their thoughts and ideas to the proposal. In many ways, the entire process has taken on a life of its own and I couldn’t be more pleased. I am awestruck that we are already voting on our interim government or that the final step of the merger would be taking place on Feb 1. However, to my great delight, the process for merging has gone smoothly and there are many to thank for this.

First I want to thank the merger team: Wzzt, Forgottenlord, Dancing Bananland/Free Cordova, Archid, Mittsville, Paradica/Kiwi, Somabalbah, and Aioran. The creative energy that sparked when these 8 individuals got together on the merger forum to represent their respective regions was incredible. This was the first time that many of these nations had met each other and the ease with which they were able to reach consensus and compromise shows great promise for the future of Uroca.

Secondly, I want to thank Wzzt for hosting this forum. Several of us were hesitant at first to move from Invision Free, however, I think I speak for the entire admin team when I say we made the right choice.

A special thanks goes out to the entire Admin team, Wzzt, Archid, Forgottenlord, and Mittsville who have worked tirelessly to set up the forums and make this space inviting to everyone - even when two of them were digging through FL's insane questions and a third was writing those questions. Between them, they copied or wrote around 2500 posts across 55 different accounts. Wow…

I also want to thank Forgottenlord for writing both of the merger documents that went up for vote by the two regions and was the one that proposed the entire process for the merger. He was the one I feared would be the most skeptical and instead has been the merger’s most prolific proponent. He achieved the greatest post count on the merger forum and is busy drafting the new Constitution so one must wonder if he ever sleeps.

Thank you to both Archid and Forgottenlord who got the forums set up for the elections while I was away having a good time, and NS was the last thing on my mind… Thanks for being so dedicated guys!

Finally, thanks to Dancing Bananland for putting together the two region’s different RP timelines and to Shadow Prophets for putting the two region’s maps together. I am looking forward to see what else these two can contribute to Uroca’s RP community

With luck, effort and a love for fun, I know our region can flourish as both of our former regions flourished, take on its own identity that is welcoming, enjoyable, and values the concepts of Peace, Democracy, Freedom, and Equality that our former regions had been founded upon.

To all of you, I bid you welcome, as we open our doors and enjoy the unveiling of the Urocan forums - and soon, the inauguration of Uroca itself. Welcome all as we set forward into this new era with new adventures and challenges ahead of us.

Government News

After a short time out, we welcomed back our founder, Imperfectia, to the forum. For the past few weeks he had been forced, through RL, to stop visiting the forum and taking part in the day to day running of the region. However, he has now returned.

In the Urocan government, progress on the new constitution has been slowed by its main contributor, Forgottenlord, cutting back on NS due to RL issues. In his absence, there has been talk of other members of the region finishing some of the constitution's appendices.

Ministry of Culture
In the ministry of culture, minister Wzzt has organised two "Avatar weeks", where users of the forum change their avatars in some way. The two events, "Upside-down avatar week", where all avatars were mirrored to be upside-down and "Avatar swap week", where members swapped avatars with each other, have been successful in increasing forum activity.

Foreign Affairs
In the foreign affairs ministry of Uroca we have exchanged embassies with the regions of England and The Confederacy of Free Regions, this brings our total of inter-regional embassies to 11, a great success for the Ministry.

Immigration
The immigration ministry, headed by PGrier, has been successful in stopping the number of nations, which had been falling. After the number of nations dropped to 80, PGrier and his team of deputies have been working hard and we now have over 90 nations in the region once more. We hope that we can get over 100 nations again soon.

UMID (Urocan Ministry of Information and Defence)
Brooksadice, our minister, has been appointing deputies to serve as "intelligence gatherers" for UMID. This new role will allow nations to seek out threats to our and other regions in NationStates.

Internal Affairs
In this ministry, there has been discussions regarding extending CharisRail into UrocaRail and creating a railway network covering the whole region. Sayt has also been talking about creating a new regional budget to finance such regional projects.
PGrier has also created the first regional census of Uroca which documents statistics of the region and records dying nations.

Community

Games
We have continued hosting "werewolf" forum games where one member (the werewolf) tries to kill everyone else one by one without drawing attention to himself, and everyone tries to vote the werewolf out of the game. The original game, hosted by Archid was won by two wolfs, Mittsville and Bentay. Werewolf 2 hosted by Fogottenlord was won by the werewolf Archid and Nix. Game 3, hosted by Wzzt with a space theme, was won by the villagers with only Paradica and PGrier surviving. Werewolf 4, hosted by The Koalate Empire was won by the werewolf Khaoz.

The Uroca Daily Quiz has seen new life lately with severla new catagories added, drawing more players in the past week than in the previous month! Anyone is invited to participate by joining us here.

Chat
The in the general chat forum, members of the region have been... chatting. Topics of interest are YouTube videos, where we can share the videos we have found, and army commander, a nation building game where we have started a Urocan alliance.

That concludes this report from Uroca. Thanks for reading, and we hope that you can come and join us at our forums here

Uroca Breaks 100-Nation Mark a Second Time!
Due to the superb efforts of Uroca's Minister of Immigration, PGrier, Uroca's population has once again reached 100 nations. PGrier, formerly the fourth Immigration Minister of Aberdeen (June-September, 2006) stepped up to the task of recruiting after Uroca's first Immigration Minister, Rioule, resigned. Under the recruiting leadership of PGrier, Uroca looks foreward to gaining many new members in the next couple of months.
