So, first things first, alliances with other regions. What regions do we want to look at? I've discussed this with Grosse, I'm particularly looking for his and Nem's opinions although others can put forward what they think as well.

TWP is something which obviously needs to be finalised, that is the first priority this term. After that, it becomes less obvious which direction we should look in, thus the need for this thread. Firstly, perhaps before we start naming names, it might be good to consider what exactly it is we're looking for and want to gain from any alliances or treaties we enter.

I think we need to pay some attention to those regions who share our democratic values, and those regions that we've given or received assistaance from in the past. We should also look at those regions that we might benefit from a stronger relationship for our institutions, such as the University.

I think we also need to look at using our institutions, such as the University, to foster those relationships with other regions, e.g. faculty exchange, foreign students, etc.

TWP fit both Federalist/Republican criteria, having a shared heritage (being a Pacific) and shared political values. Plus they supported us in Lexicon so we know they're good for it. What about a closer security relationship? Both of our armies are trying to revamp into a more active force. WPIA needs something to do; have them work with NPIA and start tagging WotN guys.

TWP, as said, is already (very slowly) in progress. The other feeders/game regions... only The Pacific is particularly active, the others are all very insular and/or inactive. The Pacific is hardly a region who we share a lot in common with, and I don't personally believe we should be looking for any closer relations with them then we already have.

I like the idea of using the university to help with this as well.

But the thing we need to discuss is what we want from closer relations. We've established, I think, the regions we primarily focused on our ones that share our democratic values. But what sort of relations is it we want (military/political/cultural/etc)?

Well that's good to hear, although I guess it depends in what direction internationally they're heading as TEP has always been quite close to The Pacific.

Uni links would be great, when/if it gets going. I do like the idea of looking into more "cultural"/social relations than the old purely military/political.
