Well, time for some cabinet input ladies and gentlemen. SD has applied to the RA, listing SD II as their nation in TNP and their original in Taijitu as Delegate.

The problem comes up under an IP search. They're on AOL. The same AOL as Americanicus I, Colonel, and Merincio. Merinicio is already in the RA. As this is AOL, the last few digits jump around, but everything else is staying the same.

So.... what would you like me to do about it?

They exist as forum accounts. Sovereign Dixie also, I think, has forum accounts under other IP addresses:

Probable accounts:

Hekloslogravia
kahunanekojin
Mahlonland
New Ballston
The Empire of Cuathemoc
The Lexicographer's Study
tinka*
Vinceborg

Definite accounts:

Brackut
Plutoria Janis (Suspended RA Member)
President_Dan
Sovereign Dixie
Colonel (former RA member)
Americanus I
Merincio (RA member)

Last i heard, a person can only be in the RA once, right?

RA members that are suspended are still RA members; Their right to vote and post have been suspended until the accoun posts the revived oath, so that presents a problem. Second, the multiple pre-existing accounts present a problem, since the oath itself states that they will have only onevote, and that if they are found to have more than one, all of the accounts will be removed from the RA.

And isn't there a forum rule againstmultiple accounts for the same user?

IF SD gets past those hurdles, then I think the preferred solution is to require them to change the username on an exosting account, and to agree to close all other accounts they have first. No one needs 15 accounts here.

I'll allow a person to control multiple accounts, as long as it is clear that they are not using the accounts to abuse our systems. For example, Ivan has at least three accounts on this forum, but has always used them to better portray his different roles in the game. He has only registered in the RA with one of them. I could say the same about Fedele.

In this case, things are a little different. Searching for the entire IP address, I get a whopping four matches in the member database. I usually get one, if any at all.

I would second Schnauzer's suggestion. If SD refuses, or claims not to own any other accounts, we use the scan as evidence of a suspected proxy and deny the application.

PM sent: at this point, the application is denied on the grounds of already having membership.

I can already tell you the response.... AOL proxies are widespread, contain large numbers of people at once, and jump around constantly. Assuming they're both from the same area, it's quite likely they'd have the same IP address. As many as are members of the forum is unlikely, but it is *possible* to have the 1 other RA member.

SD:
*sigh* I don't know who that person is, but the reason my IP comes up like that is because im on AOL. It usually waits a few days, and then gives me a new IP addy, one of 3. It continually seems to cycle through those three IP addys. I had the same problem about a year ago when I joined the lex, they all were freakin' out. Anyways, I'm explaining this because I'm sure you all must have had encountered the same problem with another member before.
And here we go.
