Long arm of NPO’s laws felt in Supreme Union

Pacific Army police squads in the Supreme Union, enforcing Section 108 of the Civil Code.

PACIFIC GARRISON, SUPREME UNION: The region of Supreme Union earlier fell under the gaze of the New Pacific Order, in an incident described to be several steps in diplomatic ignorance by a select number of members of Supreme Union. While Pacific Army forces are in the midst of returning to Pacifican territory, earlier in the weekend the Pacific Army occupied the Delegate’s Seat of Supreme Union, in hopes that an apology would arise from the government over allegations of diplomatic misconduct and law breaking by one of the region’s recruiters.

The incident started when the Emirate of Cheese face dude, a nation recruiting for Supreme Union, violated Section 108 of the Civil Code of the New Pacific Order, by posting a recruitment advertisement longer than the maximum 15 lines. When asked to cease violating this law by Emperor Bovinus I, it is reported that Cheese face dude responded in both telegrams, but most significantly in the Regional Message Board, by telling the Emperor that he would not comply and the Emperor could shove his rules into a rather dark, personal place. Conversation between the Emperor and Windsor-Bainbridge, the Chairman of ACCEL, a organization Supreme Union is a member of, ended with Windsor-Bainbridge stating that the "ACCEL has a very strong stance on national sovereignty, and so it would be almost impossible for us to force them to stop this issue. It also, of course, doesn't help when the Supreme Union don't have a Director here at the moment." As such, with consultation of his officials in the NPO, Emperor Bovinus I ordered the Pacific Army to move into the Supreme Union to enforce the violated civil code section.

Described as a “standard attack operation” by Commander Gaspo of the Pacific Army, troops entered into Supreme Union with assistance from Gatesville and Lone Wolves United. Success for the Pacific came at update, with estimates of 15-17 soldiers for the allies endorsing fellow NPO soldier Advliq. No residents were ejected or banned; however, a third party soldier was ejected as a risk to stability and security to the region. For several hours, negotiations were going on between the NPO, as represented officially by Senator Darkesia, and the residents and government of Supreme Union. Although a few third party members were planning to “liberate” the region, nothing unfolded by when Senator Rensura issued the following apology.

The Democratic Republic of Rensura

Hello, I am reprensenting the Supreme Union. I would like to apolgize for one of our nations disrespect to your rule and emporer. I assure you, your rules will be followed.

Recognizing the apology, Emperor Bovinus I ordered the Pacific Army and her allies to return to home territory. It is noted that all soldiers have returned home safely, and a native UN Delegate, the Dictatorship of Pwnzorage is in control of the region.

Question.

Was it actually a sincere apology, since you essentially forced it out of them?

Seems to me they're more sorry you invaded them than anything else.

They negotiated in good faith once they overcame some organizational issues arising from a population crisis. They reisted a whole lot of outside pressure to escalate and they stood up on their own. I have to respect them for that.

Before my time in The Pacific.
Completely different regime.
Not even about the NPO or even the PRP.

Where's that parallel again?

Oh... I am a girl. Is that what you mean? :noangel:

Edit: Actually the recruitment ad wasn't the "kicker," It was the blatant disrespect of the Emperor that got to us. And for all of your information. This wasn't the first time we have done this. It's just the first time someone noticed.

I honestly wouldn't know, either. But in doing this the NPO loses all its moral authority to criticise defenders for similar questionable invasions.

And for the record, I've criticised and disrespected your current Emperor as well as previous ones multiple times, far worse than any disrespect that came out of SU. :P

EDIT: Or for that matter, how's about all the disrespect shown towards TNP and TWP by the Pacific in this rag article?

http://z13.invisionfree.com/TNP/index.php?showtopic=2250

If a region wrote a similar "tabloid" about the Pacific, you'd likely use the same tactics against that region. Invading in the name of "respect" is silly at best.

The NPO criticizes defenders for invading? That's a mouthful. To my knowledge, the current NPO has criticized defenders for their generally humourless, aggressive, and self-aggrandizing attitudes. But we have not, to my knowledge criticized defenders for invading as that would be, imo, an action impossible for true defenders.

I was also unaware of our moral authority to do anything other than assist the Emperor in his efforts to protect the integrity and security of the region and RMB. I know we appear perfect, pure and morally upright, JAL, but none of us, save the Emperor, is infallible.

If you have recently posted on our RMB and TG'd disrespectful comments concerning our Emperor, I have either missed such rudeness or you were expelled for it. I do not believe that you have come to The Pacific's RMB while representing your region and posted such rude things while I have been active in The Pacific. I could of course be wrong.

Are you bored JAL? Wanting to start a feeder war for fun and entertainment? I'm afraid you will have to look to a different feeder to find enemies. We like TNP and there's nothing you can do to change that. :P

Now I have to get busy IRL. ciao

We like TNP and there's nothing you can do to change that. tongue.gif

Your "tabloid" to which I linked in my previous post indicates otherwise :P

To quote your Emperor on the Equilism forums:

"Defenders decry invasions, which is anti-soverieignty. Defenders support self-determination, whatever that form of government is. ADN is the organization that blurs the line between invading and defending; when I was Millitary Minister we never engaged in dubious defenses and you know that."

Your "tabloid" to which I linked in my previous post indicates otherwise

That was a long time ago and another regime. Heck it was even another forum.

"Defenders decry invasions, which is anti-soverieignty.
Defenders, true defenders, do indeed decry invasions. I will point out that the NPO is not a defender org. Nor is it an invader org. The NPOs only concern is it's own "health" and safety and we will do what the Emperor deems necessary to protect it.

Defenders support self-determination, whatever that form of government is.
If you are implying that the NPO went to SU to change their government, you are incorrect.

ADN is the organization that blurs the line between invading and defending; when I was Millitary Minister we never engaged in dubious defenses and you know that."

This last is a true. Not sure how it applies here, but yeah.

Now go watch the weather. I really have to get moving. *waves bye*

I meant this tabloid:

http://z13.invisionfree.com/TNP/index.php?showtopic=2250

which was written five days ago. You must apologize for such disrespect or be invaded :P (joke!!!)

Anyway, the gist that I'm getting from your argument is that the current NPO is similar to the old ADN (not "true defenders") in that it invades when convenient. So your current Emperor cannot criticise the ADN any longer. And that makes the stereotypical Nasicournian in me ever so happy ^__^

Now that we've both made our points, I'd like to point out that the weather in New York is quite boring. Upper 50's in the day, low 40's at night, every damned day :P

*cough* I, with totally no bias at all, also support these actions in every way.

*OMFG! LWU & RAIDING RULEZ! HAIL NPO! HAIL GATESVILLE!*

To my knowledge, the current NPO has criticized defenders for their generally humourless, aggressive, and self-aggrandizing attitudes.

WTF???

Defenders....aggressive???......you have gotta be kidding me....

Actually Darkesia that was not all that long ago my friend. And I rememebr CG's hypocritical invasion on TORC and I remember trying to liberate it. I still stand by what I said, DEFENDERS DEFEND NOT INVADE.

Anyways, I doubt this will have created any real change. As JAL said and I for once agree with him. They most likely apologized because they were forced to and wnated their region returned to them. And I find the move hypocritical considering Moaa I thought was a staunch defender.

As a matter of personal opinion, sometimes a good defense requires a good offense. Frankly, if somoneone comes in and hits your RMB with excessively long recruitment adds in violation of posted restrictions on such activities, and then they tell you to shove it 'where the sun don't shine', the offenders are just asking for a really sound thumping. I would have, in the position of the NPO, possibly shown more restraint, but then again, maybe not.

While largely ignoring minor irritations that pose no real threat to one's region's security is probably the most proper way to deal with minor irritations, there are certain occasions where retaliation is the only appropriate response if sufficient cause is given.

In this instance, a recruiter for a region (with the blessings of their region) told the leader of another sovereign region to go bugger. That's like beating a hornets' nest and asking for honey.

I wouldn't suggest that course of action for recruitment rule offenders in our region, but The Pacific is its own region and their actions in this matter concerned their sphere of influence (their own region, that is).

I might not publicly applaud their action, but I won't pass judgment on either.

On a personal level, I did find it quite amusing, though!

I don't believe I will tap-dance around this issue at all:

The Pacific RMB was defaced in a way that violated their internal laws

The offending nation then became more offensive and added insult to the situation

The NPO then took steps keeping with their foreign policy

Once the situation was resolved they exited the region with no real damage done except to the pride of the offending region.

Sometimes you need to make an example to be taken seriously and at least the NPO had the proverbial "grapefruits" to do it. Moral authority aside, when you have a position of power you have to sometimes project that power so individuals are reminded why they shouldn't mess with the various "alpha-males of the game"

Of course we are kinder and gentler here, but heck even in RL Canada has taken forceful steps to protect their sovereignty.

I really think I need to find a Hawk emoticon.

With regards to Scotsmen, the real question is always and has always been: What's under there? :w00t:
Hey, you know how to tell what clan a Scotsman is from?

If you look under his kilt and find a quarter-pounder, he's a MacDonald!

And now for something completely different: A Scotsman on a horse!*

*Never, and I mean NEVER ride a horse wearing a kilt regimental. :ill:

*Cakatoa pushes thread back on tracks with his super powers.

Supreme Union is actually being invaded.

Properly.

TheBlitz has moved into the region and currently has 6 endos to the Delegate's 8, and TheBlitz is only being endorsed by new nations. Unfortunately for TheBlitz, SU's founder rose from the grave, and will probably eject TheBlitz when they wake up.

The following conversation took place on the SU RMB between a native and the puppet of Moo-Cows With Guns:

The Armed Republic of MCWG Battle Forces:
It appears that a nation called TheBlitz is attempting to invade you. He came from the game Cybernations, vowing to take over NS. He is ignorant about this game and about the dedication and intelligence of the players who play this game.

In any event, to cement that our trouble with your region is indeed over, we will be watching and should your new delegate need more endorsements we will provide them.
The Holy Empire of So-LiCol1:
Thank you for your assistance. I, for one, appreciate it. If my suspiscions are correct, these are none other than the 'Emirate of the Cheese Face' group that attacked you.
All the same (and our apologies still standing) all help is appreciated.

*Cakatoa still has M4D reporting skillz.

'Emirate of the Cheese Face'

A name to inspire terror, if ever I heard one...

Edit: TheBlitz's national motto:

Benevolent Blitz rules with his people at heart

That sounds familiar.

*Namyeknom wonders if anyone has seen Polt's UN nation recently...

(:P, sorry Polt's, couldn't resist)

Alright... I'm bringing this back up again.

When the NPO goes in to the SU for a few hours, booting no natives, maintaining diplomatic channels through out and resolving the conflict without escalation, the NPO is roundly condemned. Every defender org out there tried to escalate the conflict, issued threats and maintained a threatening presence when NPOers were there.

Now that the SU is being invaded by someone we should all be able to come together to oppose, everyone is turning their heads the other way.

Is the SU suddenly not important enough for the great morally superior defender world to take notice? Are we so stuck in our old paradigms that we cannot see when a region is in trouble from a group that is completely new and foreign to NS? Are we so confident that CN players are so stupid that they could not take an NS region? What ever your reasons are, get over it. Now, please.

We can all go back to being hypocitical idiots later. Right now, the equivalent of an alien invasion is happening right under your noses and the defenders of the NS world are snubbing the victims.

Stop it.

[/rant]

I'm already there endorsing the native delegate. Why aren't you?

Couldn't agree more......

The NPA are on this as well.....

Lt.Gen.Daimiaena....NPA...DMoD...

"Every defender org" implies the NPA. I wasn't aware that the NPA was trying to escalate the conflict?

EDIT: And I am looking at the native delegate's endorsements. I see defenders from this region, TWP, ADN, RLA, etc:

Endorsements Received: 20 (The Imperialistz, Nippon Shotou Teikoku, Estesia, Ushols, Salatoria, So-LiCol1, The G Rebellion, Adenoyd Hynkel, Darkesia, Advliq, New Marcica, Gottex Fund Management, Freedom and Pride, The Fist of Xhadam, Dashiell Hammetts Mom, Heftogen, Pungnant Purple People, Great Britain---, Colonial Continents, Ponderings)
